I'm following your video to try to pour text into multiple letters but it isn't filling them. When I create the path, it makes a path around all the letters but when I go to fill, all the other letters drop off. How do you do a title and make it flow from one letter to another?
I have to admit: Photoshop may not be the best program if you are hoping to be able to flow copy from one letter into another. To flow copy, you need a "more box" or small red + sign when you get to the bottom of the first letter so you can flow it into the next letter, each one acting as a text box like I show in this InDesign video: ua-cam.com/video/4U7QPPKODfE/v-deo.html. If you didn't need the copy to be able to be read continuous and just needed letters to fill the letters, you could make it a pattern and fill the compound path with a pattern like I show in this Illustrator tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/KHl2oxCB5pg/v-deo.html. You could do that in Photoshop or make it a layer mask, but these would result in portions of the copy being cut off by the letterforms. To fill copy with a continuous line of copy, you would need the ability to flow copy as I showed in my InDesign tutorial called "How to flow copy or thread text in InDesign". I think Photoshop offers up a small shape with an X or + in it and when clicked and put into the next letter's shape would continue, but I personally have never done this because I don't use Photoshop for text layout. It's primarily a photo manipulation program where InDesign is for copy layout.
Thank you Graphics Grrrl for this tutorial. After creating a work path with the letters, CTB I selected the top crossbar of the T and extended the ends left and right. How do I convert that back to a selection (marching ants) so I can fill it with color?
No problem! Go to the PATHS panel and click the options menu in its upper right corner (sometimes called the hamburger menu because it has three lines). From there, select make selection. Choose the smallest tolerance and keep “new selection” checked. You can save multiple paths and make selections from them anytime!
Yay...I did it! I had to add a layer to do a fill but I got it, thank you www.spearchuck.com/images/CTB.jpg You can tell when I dragged the ends of the T using direct selection (A) tool I picked up a few extra points
This really helped me, however when I did the letter "A', the text filled the little hole in the middle of the "A". It worked for the rest of the work path, though. any suggestions?
You're right! The letter A uses a compound path to form the negative space inside the letter and this method may require that there be no mask nor compound path. I was going to suggest a layer mask, but you were hoping to keep continuous text inside the shape. If you had repeated words where you'd be fine with seeing only a portion of the copy, then that could work! Check out my video on layer masks here: ua-cam.com/video/GjwKDimfpJg/v-deo.html
You may need to convert the type to a compound path in order to have text flow continuously into all the letters. First try to do one letter to see if you can get that work.
Hi there! I ran into the issue you may be experiencing which is the text filled the circle of the O, but it didn't leave the center hollow as you probably want it, so in this video you can see that they do a workaround in PS so it treats it as one compound shape to be filled: ua-cam.com/video/WEiPyhSl0KU/v-deo.html

I am unable to add text in word 'SEO' and there is no option coming for 'create work path' as well.
