Just in case anyone is wondering: Joe's mouthpieces are really outstanding. The Missing Link 2 I play blows everything else I have tried out of the water, and makes me play more soprano. It's also quite dark, but very powerful.

@@josephgiardullo7403 I'd like to know how to solve the thumb pain. I'm changing from straight instrument to curved hoping to fix the problem. Let me know If you have any advice. Thanks in advance. Marco

Make a soft pad for the thumb rest or use a neck strap. If your horn does not have a strap hook, you can have one added quite easily.

I also recommend opening the throat more.

I play a curved Yani, #7 metal mp, over Van Doren 3's. The result is a tone in between the straight soprano, and an alto. The curve matters, or at least that's what my wife says...

Curved necks are different acoustically, no question about it. The angle of the bend has an impact on the way the sound waves travel, as well. More angle or less angles makes a difference.

Just curious, Joe: What's the tip opening on that Missing Link you're playing in this video, and what's the reed brand and strength? Thanks for the helpful advice.
