- Perfect smooth conditions at Laniakea, 6-8ft Hawaiian and nice open barrels if you timed it right on that one wave of the set. The Onshore winds came on as early as 9am and got worse by 10am, we learned our lesson yesterday, don't get up there late or you'll be stuck with the onshore winds.

I surfed today and have been surfing since 1964! I watched your beautiful video of Lani's with my 98 yr old mother-in-love while I made her lunch! She smiled all the way through it! Sharing the stoke! She has never surfed or been to a surfing beach. But she smiled big time watching this and she doesn't have much to smile about these days. Mahalo!

Oh, I remember Lani's on my 7.7 Downing Hawaii single fin. Many overhead days I have surfed country. I always showed respect to the local boys and girls, they made room for me because of it. Peace brother.
I ride a 7’7” single fin too! It almost feels like cheating!
Great vid coverage for sure. I Surfed perfect Laniakea up to 10 to 12 foot/double overhead in 70's and 80's with Folks like my dad, my uncle Fred, Flippy Hoffman, Peter Cole, Eddie, Cort Gion, and many others. A crowd was 15 people. Some of those days were better than this day and some were just pure treacherous. Some of the longest agonizing hold downs ever and yet some of the most epic long rides the North Shore has to offer. I believe Cort actually broke his back out there. It is definitely a spot that commands a lot of courage, respect and skill when it is big and pumping.
Think, no matter where you surf....Hawaii, RSA, Australia, Tahiti, Brazil, etc., etc...Always Respect the ocean coz Mother Nature can be Cruel, Heartless, Vengeful, Powerful Bitch who's always looking to add to her body count! Respect is Earned, not Given
I grew up around José Angel, Reno Abellira, Peter Cole, Butch Van Artsdalen, etc., etc....Legends All!

Bitchen Morning Front Light & Color! Really good drone pilot skills! Stoked for your work. It's so typical for Hawaiian winter surf to have this sort of lumpy & sectioning swell conditions. I'll always treasure my memory of scoring Lani's on a Thanksgiving Day with strange (for da islands) sheet glass & ruler-edged swell. It was 15'+ & just peeling section free the entire way under ultra rare windless grey overcast skies. Reminded me of Bali or Hollister Ranch it was that smooth. Surfing with Filipe Pomar and only 10 guys out. It got way bigger & we paddled over and rode massive rights off of the normally mysto left over at Himalayas. Mahalo!

I'm sitting in a library here in Oslo, Norway, while it rains heavy outside and the sky is dark with clouds, so I'm now watching this video for a 2nd time, as it takes me away to a land of sun and waves and chill vibes. I think I'll be coming back to this one much more in the future

You remind me of jackson lebdack but extended drone footage of yours is the BEST. Jsckson is great but its never longer extended drone work footage.... I have no idea of how much time goes into editing and sorting out video but I enjoy your work.

We can’t reveal that until after Winter Season for obvious reasons, the drone scene in Hawaii is competitive as Fk! I can tell you that the reason it looks the way it does is because we color grade and set the right exposure. Good luck 🤙🏾
By any chance was that ur drone shooting oct 9 Sunday ? If so can u upload pls!! Was epic in the late afternoon hours. before it got dark glassed it off perfectly
No we ere shooting DH and spend the day editing it but Oahu Surf Films told us on the phone that is was super nice on Sunday, I guess we missed out 😔

The beach is not really ideal for audiences, maybe on the left side of the lifeguard tower but it's still not very easy to see unless you're watching from the highway

I went to Pua'ena yesturday..caught a couple good ones..then i drove by laniakea.. looked really good! I'm goofy footed but was thinking about paddling out..I surfed with u at Publix a few times❤❤
