Great example as to why it's awesome to have the hi-hat pedal close enough to the left kick pedal to bridge between them! I need to see this band LIVE, damnit! I've loved them for years and have yet to catch them.
Sean Reinert did this technique years ago. So glad to John employing it. Amazingly talented drummer.

I always like hearing Longstreth play songs from Echoes. James King did a killer job w that album, but for whatever reason, Origin sounds strange to me without Longstreth behind the kit. Dude is perfect for that band. 🤘

@@exploringwithasmr yea, the first time I saw them live was right when King came on board. I've since seen them a lot w Longstreth tho so it's cool. Plus I got to see Exhumed w Longstreth while he was out of Origin.
And King James had been playing drums for less than 2 years when he joined Origin
he also played very well in Unmercifully Beaten album.

I can't stand kicks to click that much. It needs more low-end. IMO
There are layers to that sound selection actually. I cannot imagine a raw acoustic kick sound in this mix, can you?

Yeah, I actually could. Anything is possible with the right sound tech. I'm sure it's just John's preference. I love the way Lar's kicks sounded on Justice and he was basically the first to bring that sound, but it still has some meat/low end to it. More of a squish than a click. 😆
