@@Jaedub86 Oh I saw it. Big difference is Gail was a multi event athlete and won many other Golds in the 100 at the Olympics. This was Lolo's one and only chance. That's why this one is sadder to me
Such a sad story for Lolo Jones. Sally Pearson then McMullen went on to be a beast in this event for a while. 100mH has been the most unpredictable race in Track and Field.
There's a saying that "pressure busts pipes". And for sure, there's a lot of pressure on these athletes to come up big and be perfect in big moments like these... but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Sad to see this happen to Lolo. But she's a class act and she handled the situation with grace. God bless her. 🙏
@@chinezeolisah1308 naa, she was just devastated. In her subsequent interviews, she always praised Dawn and Sally and said they were the best that day.
The media goes with the compelling story. It's not that deep. It's not a meritocracy. Their aim is to not be boring. What's wrong with that? Plus she was classy in her interview.
Amongst athletics connoisseurs Lolo was greatly loved (from a distance) in the U.K., and by me fondly remembered still to this day. She lost with courage, strength, and immense grace notwithstanding being rent asunder emotionally. Sport often trashes the best and of course in 2012 it physically smashed Sally. The extremes are the nature of sport but such is of absolutely no consolation when manifesting its brutal side.
cant think of a worse event for an olympic final where theres no time recover after a mistake. the pressure to clear the hurdles at an event that happens every 4 years is tough.
Lolo jones despite her horrid start was on for an incredible time had she not hit the hurdle. If she had had Pearson's start and finished clean woud have been a world record for sure
@@powerfulcornelius3285 Yes.One important part of this kind of race is to go clean over the hurdles and not stumble upon them. She didnt do it so she didnt win. There is a winner but everybody talks about LoLo Jones. pathetic. The winner deserved to win since she managed the hurdles
@@elisabetpurve2908 Everyone talks about Lolo because despite her mistake she is clearly the fastest, if Usain Bolt tripped before the finish line people would still respect him and enjoy watching him compete
I think Lolo was in 12.24-26 if she didn’t hit any hurdles during this race. Maybe even a wr threat I mean look at the surge and how far she would of been ahead of harper@ 12.34
For people to know: It turned out Lolos back/hip was somehow broken. She didn´t have full control over her leg (the one that hit the hurdle). As a pro, she wouldn´t make such a rookie mistake. Her body was operated after this race.
Great job, Dawn Harper! Too bad the U.S. media only wanted to focus on Lolo the diva. (Wonder why?) Anyway, this race began an era of U.S. excellence in this event that's still ongoing, thanks to Dawn Harper.
Dawn is more beautiful than Lolo Jones. She has a beautiful smile and personality. She's not hot according to eurocentric beauty standards. She's married with a beautiful daughter and another on the way. She doesn't need to pimp herself out for attention. Dawn harper Nelson is the true champion and class act
What a rude comment. First of all, who cares how she looks? She's there to compete, not to model. Secondly, she's happily married so clearly her husband likes how she looks. Thirdly, to reduce a woman down to her looks is such a sexist thing to do. If have nothing nice to say just keep it to yourself.
Dawn you have a serious capacity to fool yourself bc you didn't shock the world, you got lucky Lolo tripped up. Lolo shocked the world by messing up & you won by default! Those are the facts.
It's called hurdles you chump. Dawn Harper cleared all her hurdles while Lolo jones failed to the same and that is why she lost. Ain't no luck. Put some respect on Dawn Harper name Chump.
This was the most devastating race I ever saw. The one time you need perfection it doesn't work out. I felt so bad for her
So you must have not watched the 1992 Olympic 100m hurdles final race where Gail Devers hit hurdle 10 and stumbled from first place to 5th place.

Happened to Gail Devers in 1992
twice
Sally Pearson went on to get gold in 2012 and dominated women's hurdles for abit then injuries unfortunately mounted up later in her career.
Love your contents (K.C) Kevin Columbia
Lolo you have to admit had such a great attitude - really classy in defeat
What class? She sat there hugging the limelight and having a pity party, drawing attention away from the winners.

I didn't know who she was. Just found her book in the local library... so engaged in the first chapter and I don't even read!
"its hurdles, if u cant finish the race , u cant be the champion"
Shout out to Dawn. Big W
They never even interviewed their own winner first lol. Americans man

Man Priscilla Lopes Schliep c getting bronze in such a close race is insane
Do you have the semi finals where Lolo ran 12.43?
What stunningly beautiful women xxxxxx
.4s separated 1st through 8th, I wonder if this is the narrowest gap, all Sub-13😏
She handled that with grace
pearson's rocketing start just disoriented poor lolo(
Looking up at the clock will do that to ya. Oh well, Dawn gets the glory!
What a really really nice lady she took her heart break like a true lady
Lolo is a diva par excellence, but this was a tough break.
Harper was coming so I will always wonder if Lolo could've held her off
Lolo so beautiful
It was heartbreaking to watch
Je pense que c'est par rapport à des choses comme ça qu'elle a une si longue carrière. Elle gagnait.
Dawn is goated
100m hurdles, where anything can happen.
Lolo Jones ran 12.43 in the semi and the winning time in the final was 12.54.
You have to manage the hurdles ,that is the point.if you dont, you wont win. doesnt matter what winning time .
Who was grunting the whole race?
Her sunglasses distracted her visibility.
Sally mclellan, looks like sally pearson 2012 olympic champs..

Loki Jones is a horrible human. This makes me happy.
But why would they put Jones crying on the screen? I just dont see the point
deliberate and unnecessary cruelty.
Because she was a media magnet and any footage was good footage.

Definitely her sunglasses put her off
I don’t care she lost this race. She is the best
The pressure of the Olympics is simply too much for some competitors.
So, in my books she´s the winner... Sorry for Harper. :D
so sad she's robbed, if she weren't to hit that she wins
How TF is failing to complete the task ‘getting robbed’ it’s hurdles, clearing the hurdles is the whole bloody point 🙄
LoLo Jones should of won this race.
Why? This isn’t gymnastics and based on judges. It’s a race. She lost.
