Well, I actually LOVE the digital display.

I picked up one two weeks ago and drives amazing but it takes some getting used to with the Dual clutch transmission, you have to learn how to modulate the gas pedal when taking off, but after you learn it, I like it better than a normal transmission because the shifting is smother and faster, you can also play with the settings Eco, Normal, Sport or offroad.
It reacts so much faster on the sport setting, I think on this model you can launch it in sport mode and disabling the traction control on the screen, the 0-60 you can do it in 7.4 seconds, on 93 octane gas

Pretty honest review. I think this is the trim level to get- I have one. Having said that, don't break the bank and go over 30K....the value is not there. The digital speedometer looks like something I had in my 2014 civic :) I will say the infotainment system is beautiful and great for commuting.

Great review! Plan on getting this exact model but with 4Motion added. But that horn… 😂

I have the SEL Taos after having had 2 Tiguans and I enjoy it a lit. It is now just me and my 2 dogs, and it is a perfect size. The SEL does not have the lower end digital cockpit and is much like the Tiguan I have had all along. So far I am really having fun with it.

I think that is the perfect Taos. I know it’s the top of the line but it has everything you could want without really any compromises.
      Congrats, Art! Thanks for watching

Update! I tried the launch control of the 7 speed DCT on the Taos it works like charm, can't belive they advertise this vehicles as a 8.4 second 0-60 when in reality it can do 6.9 secons using regulat 87 gas when using launch control

I am a VW Guy. VW needs to GET RID OF the FAKE exhaust cutouts in the bumper. Makes no sense. Either make the bumper smooth or actually exit the exit exhaust through the bumper cutouts. We all know they are fake. Duh! Which brings me to another point. The Taos has the 4Motion which back in my day(I'm 54) was called the Synchro on the Vanagon and Quantum and even on the Golf(in other countries but not the USA(scratching my head). The 4Motion name is boring. The 4Motion(Synchro) Taos has the 7 speed DSG(dual clutch) transmission which means that VW MUST make a Taos R. And I am not just talking about an "R Line" cosmetic R Taos. I am talking about a full fledged Taos R(or GT version) with a 240hp GTI engine. We deserve to have this in the USA. Heck in Europe the VW provides the Tiguan R line with ACTUAL performance goodies. Why not the USA? Okay okay, enough complaining. I agree that there is plenty of competition for the VW Taos and this is why VW needs to make it stand out. Most sales will be those who are VW nuts already. But if VW does make a Taos R(GT) or an "Off Road" version with some flaring and large/wider suspension the Taos will do VERY nicely in the USA. Where did the fog lights go?

Instead of model this I prefer my European Tiguan (which has the short wheelbase which is not available in US). Nice review👍

This is my first time looking at your review and I love it. Really love your honesty and totally agree with everything you said about hard plastic. I do like VW, however, for a German-made car it should be way more luxurious inside and their cars are not. Would expect that from a Korean-made Hyundai, not a German-made car. Again, Love your review definitely a new subscriber.

Well, ya gotta remember you're getting supposed "German engineering/Audi inspired" and all the safety features like front crash mitigation and rear bump mitigation and blind spot warning, LED lights all around, roof rails... all standard even on the base S trim for around $25K. If you need basic transportation with a 4 year warranty, it's not a bad vehicle.

@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville the most basic one, S. No options. Just needed a daily driver. Platinum gray metallic. I honestly was looking for a Mazda 3 but considering this is an all-new car, almost the same price, and even quoted cheaper insurance, I said "why not?" If budget was bigger I would have wanted a blue one
