Hello! It's been a while since I released a video with a playlist, but today is the day! Here's some of my favorite *fish themed* songs: open.spotify.com/playlist/0b3ZYuyvizQFCqsutwBg9u?si=VSB4J3g2Qji1qQE1a_VcaA
The real question is, what is the message he is trying to convey with the image? Do celebrities really want to desperately convey the idea that they are adrogynous. Why do celebrities insist on creating lies, chaos, confusion to their viewers/fans? What is the purpose of their existence? These celebrities are 100% serving lies and enjoy feeding these lies to their fan base.
I feel like I was almost tricked out of it I didn't click on this at first because I don't care about Harry styles but totally would've clicked a video called "music's obsession with the fisheye lense"
@Marianne Lol, he has nothing of insight to say, he sounds empty headed most of the time he talks, and he talks in cliches and what sounds like peddling what others say.
Will Ashe exactly. Hype Williams may have spread the use for hip hop, but Spike Jonze was famous for utilizing the style in skating for the alternative world. So it’s unfortunate they did not mention his influence as well.
I almost didn't watch this because of the title. I thought it was going to be like the video where they over-analyzed that Taylor Swift song. Harry Styles fans far outnumber those interested in the history of the fish eye lens though.
They probably play a bigger role in selling albums, but that is diminishing as more people consume music digitally. Nowadays you could probably look at album artwork as helping to establish the artists brand, I guess, although that was probably always the case as well.
So amazing to see the rich history of the fisheye lens, which even today help us capture the world in 360 and 180 degrees for that signature action camera perspective, virtual reality video (some examples on my channel), 3D mapping and reconstruction, remote sensing and lest we forget - the wide angle selfie 🤳 :-)
Don't mind me but at around 7:01 - 7:03 it's hardly noticeable but you can catch a cool reference to Billy Corgan changing the title of the Smashing Pumpkins' album to "Gish" because "Phish" was already taken, haha. Also, this was such an interesting video!! Harry Styles is so precious as an artist and as a person❤
Nice video! A few years ago I’ve bought a Minolta MD Rokkor 24-50-x not a fisheye-lens but 24 is a pretty good wide angle. First it was just a experiment to see what it would be like to shoot in such a low focal length but this lens became my working horse. It totally changed my style of photography. Today’s understand why these lenses go for over 250€ an they’re totally worth it!
Maybe another factor is the circular format of the fish-eye photo fitting neatly on the square sleeve of traditional vinyl and which is also suggestive of the disc inside.
Love this! I’ve been alive for some time so I have seen my share or fisheye music album art, but never really knew the history behind it. Thanks for this video!
Incredible! Interesting to explore also how the fisheye has been used in fashion imagery, particularly by Tim Walker who shot the Harry Styles album cover. He uses wide angle lenses to create surreal and dreamlike photos. Check out his work for sure if you liked this video
I probably won’t care about a single song on the album, but that cover is in the running for best album artwork of the year in my book. It has me fascinated.
I can never imagine vox running out of ideas...who could have thought to make a video on this ...but here is vox...and that's why I love it... coming up with the most amazing videos ever💝
The fisheye lens was used most in skateboarding. Specifically the Vx1000 camera and the MK1 fisheye. The fisheye lens is most prominently used for close shots as well as to make obstacles look bigger.
Seeing people post their fish eye photos on Facebook, I grew I loathe the fish eye lens. This video though highlights great examples of how to actually use it correctly. I no longer loathe the fish eye lens.

Rachel Munoz why are you assuming that an androgynous image is a lie?
Love the fisheye. Been using it since I was a teen for skateboarding photography! Great video btw!
Vox this don’t gotta none to do with Harry styles
999
You just waited for someone to release an album with a picture taken by a fisheye camera didn’t you?
It’s a smart tactic considering a title talking about “fisheye cameras” would be much less appealing than this.
NV oh yes definitely. The small album cover deep dive was quite nice
I've heard a story about this guy
No
Santeri64
From a Jedi?
In his single adore you, he has a fish friend, so the way that looking at his album cover makes you feel like the fish is very clever
ohhh right
dude I was just thinking that
We are the fish looking at him. He adores us
Julia Wilson omg
Interesting...
Vox: The real story behind this Harry Styles album cover
2 seconds later
Vox: Physics
Thank god. I have no Idea who Harry Styles is and was just hoping for an interesting Vox video.
ahahahaha lol
This was great
Lol, I'm disappointed
and history
I feel like I was tricked into learning scientific history
David Estrada ‘tis their goal
god forbid
If science was taught this way, maybe more of us would contribute better to our society.
agreed
I feel like I was almost tricked out of it I didn't click on this at first because I don't care about Harry styles but totally would've clicked a video called "music's obsession with the fisheye lense"
thought: the fish eye photo is an ode to the fish from Adore You
Julia Wilson that’s exactly what I was thinking lol
the fans are the fish.
@@josephcastano4598 the fans are fish looking up to the stars?
i think so too
No he is the fish. A small fish in a big pond turned big fish in a small pond. That’s the analogy. He’s too big to stay in one spot forever.
I just watched something that *Harry* himself don't know
true ahahhaha
@Marianne actually it was a joke..... But ok.... Have a nice day
@Marianne He probably doesn’t, he’s not very smart. If he learned it it’s cause someone told him
Hahahhah that's what I was thinking
@Marianne Lol, he has nothing of insight to say, he sounds empty headed most of the time he talks, and he talks in cliches and what sounds like peddling what others say.
The story behind Harry's cover -- or a history of the fisheye lens?
Fishbait.
SHARK BAIT OO HAH HAH
😂😂
Came here for Harry, stayed for physics.
same
Womp womp I bought a fish eye lens to make a rap video with a couple of friends
4 vanishing points
I wasn't expecting this but i'm pleasantly surprised
Outstanding history lesson. Well researched and illustrated.
It’s hard to think about fish eye without mentioning skate videos.
This is what I thought, the fisheye lens and skate vids go hand in hand
Will Ashe exactly. Hype Williams may have spread the use for hip hop, but Spike Jonze was famous for utilizing the style in skating for the alternative world. So it’s unfortunate they did not mention his influence as well.
This video escalated from a fun gossip video to a history lesson
vox writes about the most interesting topics in such creative ways
The better title would be:
"The history of the fish eye lens and why it's used for album covers"
Every channel needs them clicks!
not clickbaity enough
Not attractive enough! They did it just right
Not a lot of people would click on that though.
I almost didn't watch this because of the title. I thought it was going to be like the video where they over-analyzed that Taylor Swift song. Harry Styles fans far outnumber those interested in the history of the fish eye lens though.
Vox: you know that one new Harry Styles album? It’s a fish eye lens.
*proceeds to make a 8 minute video explaining what a fish eye lens is*
A+ work. Groundbreaking lens.
When I tell you I freaked that Vox made a video about Harry Styles
Ikrrr!!!
They didn’t...they made one about fisheye lens 🤣
They just took the chonce to make a video about the history of fisheye lens
They didn't...
his fans gon be real disappointed this isnt an 8 min vid about him
LOVER LINK definitely disappointed
REALLY dissapointed 😔
At least y'all learned something
Nope
i’m not disappointed, this information is new and good
Vox paying attention to detail won my appreciation
Harry Styles featuring a fish in Adore You mv and I didn't even notice that the album cover was on a fish-eye perspective. Very impressive!
producer: let's add fish eye effect to the album cover
garry: yeah, looks cool
vox: PHYSICS TIME
Garry or Harry?
*Harry
Who's garry?😂
i love garry styles
He likes old music
i came for harry and ended up with a free history lesson 😳✌️
OMG WOW I NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD COVER THIS BUT THEY DID AND IM SO HAPPY!!
"So what all are you going to explain in the video?"
Vox : "yes"
I never thought I'd see harry styles on vox. I'm glad it happened (somehow)
And then there’s the whole universe of skaters using this
Chevy Cadiente Fr
I’m saving up to get a vx1000
It's not A turkey dope dude the classic camera
Fish eye lenses have also been a big thing in skateboarding too. I LOVE this video, being a big fan of music and photography.
I love this video, amazing work guys
What effect to album covers actually have a listening experience? Can an album cover make or break the experience ?
They probably play a bigger role in selling albums, but that is diminishing as more people consume music digitally. Nowadays you could probably look at album artwork as helping to establish the artists brand, I guess, although that was probably always the case as well.

I felt like I was witnessing a parallel world come to life when I saw vox and Harry styles together, this is just brilliant
Missed a huge topic about the use of Fisheye lens in the skateboarding scene
IMurdocI Exactly this
Being a Harry fan gives me more education than school, excellent service
Love his music & style :)
Teacher: stop listening to that album and start do your work
Harry's fans: it's physic mam
I didn't knew I needed this video. Vox surprises me sometimes.
I always like the way how they include the inventors.
Manger: How many psychedelic references do you want?
Harry: Yes, please
Tpwk
Nice video!
A few years ago I’ve bought a Minolta MD Rokkor 24-50-x not a fisheye-lens but 24 is a pretty good wide angle.

Vox, Estelle, this one got me. I appreciate the fisheye lens a little more now. Well done all around!
I'm not gonna lie, I expected it to be a pop culture take on Harry Styles, not one of your best and most researched videos. Kudos.
Idk but it works perfectly with the round profile picture frame that all social media have
It’s so beautiful thanks💕💕💕 such a good vibe
Vox for UA-cam channel of the year. Man, am I glad I found you guys this year.
Another great walk on the music photography wild side
this was insanely interesting thank you!
Don't forget that the fisheye lens has also been a huge part of the action sports industry.
This video has a charm in it. There goes no week that i dont rewatch this video.
Every week once.
I was really hoping this would be a bout psychedelic music from the 60s and 70s
I loooove fisheye photography. Thank you!
That’s why I love this channel 💛
Title: The real story behind this Harry Styles album cover
Actual title:
*History of the fish eye lens*
Came for Harry Styles. Stayed for the history lesson. Thanks Vox.
I love the way you presented it.
This video was great! I own one of these lenses and it was cool to see the history about it. Amazing work!
Great clip as usual! Love your music series!
This was such a great video! Well done!!
Incredible! Interesting to explore also how the fisheye has been used in fashion imagery, particularly by Tim Walker who shot the Harry Styles album cover. He uses wide angle lenses to create surreal and dreamlike photos. Check out his work for sure if you liked this video
The fisheye lens’s loyalty has always been to the skate community ✊
Marvellous, fascinating presentation. Thanks
This is some next level promotion of an upcoming music album.
It already came out but yes
This made my day :) it combines 2 of my favorite things, harry styles and vox videos!!
I loved the Smashing Pumpkins, Gish album. ✌
loving this series!
Really interesting episode since when I think of fisheye lens I typically think of skating videos instead of album covers
very interesting doco on the history of the fisheye, I love them
Did not expect all of this but I'm not complaining! Super interesting :)
I kept hoping you'd talk about Skateboarding videos. That's where I first learned about fish-eye lenses.
YALL REALLY GO INTO DEPTH WITH EVERYTHUNG I LIVE FOR IT
YOU GUYS MAKE THE BEST VIDEOS!
from harry styles to physics
this escalated quickly.
I probably won’t care about a single song on the album, but that cover is in the running for best album artwork of the year in my book. It has me fascinated.
Thank you!
i literally just wanted to see how many videos or albums had used fisheye lens but i kinda love this more than i except
I can never imagine vox running out of ideas...who could have thought to make a video on this ...but here is vox...and that's why I love it... coming up with the most amazing videos ever💝
I like the way Harry Styles fans analyzed the whole picture like a project
You are such o good reporter and producer!
my favourite channel and a great artist wow
Really nice vid, thank you :)
The fisheye lens was used most in skateboarding. Specifically the Vx1000 camera and the MK1 fisheye. The fisheye lens is most prominently used for close shots as well as to make obstacles look bigger.

Rowena Williams every source of knowledge makes you less dumber than you currently are...
You don’t need Harry and what did he teach you?
you people got the best editing teAM
not what I expected and I am HERE FOR IT
Seeing people post their fish eye photos on Facebook, I grew I loathe the fish eye lens.
This video though highlights great examples of how to actually use it correctly. I no longer loathe the fish eye lens.
Great reminder of how much I love Gish :D
2020 Phones might be having these
You can buy a fisheye phone lens for a fiver on amazon.
