If I could have only 1 collection of a lifetime it is the (Jazz) Crusaders. My 1st 8 track tape was Tough Talk. Anyway Rhapsody & Royal Jam are a MUST haves....Thanks for posting
So many great players have blessed The Crusaders, "jazz" or otherwise ! They have blessed us with great, real music . Along with Azymuth and Sacbe I will always have an unlimited source for inspiration !
The title track from an album that should've been RE-RELEASED ON CD a long damn time ago. For years I thought this was a Grover Washington, Jr. song because I never associated Wilton Felder with soprano sax. I was surprised when I found out it was the Crusaders, but it wasn't too big a surprise. GREAT to see footage of the guys, though.
@cheleni1 Sorry, dude, gotta agree... those strings are quite cheesy and too high in the mix. As soon as they subside, the song starts to cook nicely. They don't seem too have any jazzy harmony to them ether...
There’s a better version of this song from the same venue. Leon Ndugu Chancler is pushing too hard on the drums in this video. The other version he’s right on time. ua-cam.com/video/4Ui6tGICu-c/v-deo.html
these talented professionals left this world with something to be appreciated by all
When artists like this earn an orchestra to accompany them, you know they've done the work.
RIP Joe Sample. Thank you for your music and you will be missed although your musical genius will never fade away.
Joe Sample was a great composer. A true original on the Fender Rhodes.

小生も五反田にいたのだが・・・ 日本オケにブルースは・・・ というかオケとはチャレンジか?(ロイヤルフィルともやってたか) バーンスタインがやった「ラプソディ イン ブルー」見てちょっと違うなと感じた
