when i was younger (23) i got arrested. one day i decided i didnt want to be put in a cage anymore. i didnt want to live in fear of jail and courts anymore. so i started reading law books. i applied myself. i went on amazon and bought real text books they give law students. i spent 5 years reading, watching law school lectures etc. i applied myself because i didnt want to live in fear of police and judges anymore. now im a successful pro se defense lawyer. i have had speeding tickets dismissed, ive helped other people who have fallen victim to the tyrannical courts beat their charges.......long story short; you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. no fear, be resilient !!!!!!

Controlling your ego is the most difficult. No one, even a stoic, can withstand public humiliation for an offense he didn't commit, as it's the case sometimes having an abusive-destructove boss. A situation like this arouses anger because it goes against the truth or reality continuity. That's why Nietzsche wasn't so enthusiastic about stoicism.

@@unassailable6138 Nietzsche was also a Chloral hydrate addict, had severe depression and illness and never was able to hold a lasting relationship. Personally, not sure, if I want to hold that guy up as an idol

@@abhijeetbhardwaj2973 If you take addiction into account half of all World literature and art would probably vanish. Van Gogh, Freud, Baudelaire, Hemingway, Stephen King were all addicts and yet, brilliant. The list goes on forever. It's not about the messenger, it's the message that is important.

I watch alot of your videos and I really appreciate them. You're a great man for sharing this wisdom in a way that appeals to modern society. You've inspired me, and I get the idea that, that is your ultimate goal, to inspire others, leaving something good behind in this cruel world, and you do that. Again, thank you.

it's something i need to realize more. we live in an age where almost the entire history of human generated information is practically freely accessible to anyone. and whatever is happening now has happened before. whatever comes up in your life has come up in another and there is someone who has overcame the same problems as you. one of them may have written about it. now with that abundance of information it becomes easier to ask "why learn by trial and error?" and then it becomes easier on a larger scale to see why leaning by trial and error can be a crime

You're right about an endurance sport practice and practicing philosophy as a lifelong practice. I started running a year ago, during covid, and even though I previously had great insights hiking each week, having a 3-6 day a week jogging practice brings me into conversation with the limits of my 46 year old body, as I move through my local community and ecosystems in a way that has helped me work on my second book while teaching full time and having normal family and life stresses. I think most people could pick up something. Run local 5ks or half marathons. Swim laps at the Y. Or pick up roller skating. Seriously. A philosopher benefits from endurance.

I’m dealing with a pretty major work situation that is going to come to a confrontation.. I almost really lost my temper yesterday about the situation, I almost blurted out some words that I now recognize as being words that are used as shaming tactics. But because of the things I’m learning through stoicism, I decided to let myself cool off for a day or so. During my cool off time I came up with a way to confront this situation that will de-escalate this problem and deal with it in a unemotional, rational way. I’m so glad I didn’t lose my temper at the moment and make an ass out of myself. I was close and it was so hard to back away but I did it.

“Le Petit Prince” is my favorite work. Very cool he mentioned it. If you do read it, read each page slowly. If you get past the first couple of pages and think “well this is a cute children’s book,“ go back and read it again, but more slowly. In fact, pause a while after reading the dedication to Leon Wurth before Chapter 1. When you turn final page for one last punch to the gut, and you are reduced to a puddle, you have a read it well. Stoics can still feel deeply.

Prayerful introspection is very beneficial. The materialistic mind can be so full of envy, greed, lust, anger and hatred and cover a person’s spiritual qualities. If I am honest in my introspection, I might begin to realize that I cannot by myself defeat the feelings of lust, my enviousness, or my laziness. I cannot defeat my anger and my hatred that is polluting this sacred place where an expansion of the Supreme Lord sits.

Then maybe I'll join to WWE one day. I saw lot of great superstars developed strong character after the ring. It was the best way to ease pain and makes it become stronger. Look what the Rock, Sasha Banks and even Asuka did during outside the ring. Sasha is dealing with her depression and her autistic brother. Asuka enjoyed her solitude days and think about good stuffs. The Rock gains confidence over and over and remembering how he handled his sadness after the lost of his father.
I even admired Marcus Aurelius even more after I learned that he was a wrestler back in his days.
