Really appreciate your perspective. Lots of lackluster reviews about this camera based on specs alone with the big headlines being especially negative (old sensor, no ibis). Seems like the reviews are starting to trend more positively now that more people are getting their hands on it. Thanks for sharing!
I’d say that this camera is a great prosumer or a beginner camera wanting to up their skills. Just got this and moved into mirrorless from Nikon D600. Blown away by the low light performance even with the kit lens. Auto focus is amazing. Truly value for money
I think this is a great and much-needed update. At this price point, I'd recommend The Z50 II over the Z5 (which I believe will get the next update). I'd also recommend getting both kit lenses, given their image quality and included VR. I also always prefer the Z8/9 style tilt screen, but this fully articulating makes sense here. No sour grapes, but honestly the Z6III better get a dedicated Bird detection mode very soon. I'd also like Cycle AF added, but that's a different discussion.Great overview of the Z50 II, thanks Frames!
How is the video dynamic range and detail compared to similiar specced sony & Fujifilm cameras ? The previous Z50 4k video looked mushy compared to the Sony Zve10 mark I. Sony video files have historically had better resolution atleast through my eyes
Hi, Great video.. I need your help to resolve the issue of slight misfocusing on all af modes except pin point and single point mode. Is this an issue with few z50iis or could I have done any wrong setting in camera(i did rest the camera setting but the ossue persits). Thanks
I have been on the fence because of the lack of tilt screen and also the fear that it would be redundant with my Z6III. I don't shoot video so this would be my back up for event photography (I could leave the Zf at home) and my main camera for travel. When I travel I shoot street and wildlife, so it seems the size would be ideal. My only long lens is the Tamron 150-500 at the moment but I think I could make it work. Does it make sense though? Thank you Frames TM!
Couldn’t you put the product detect menu item at, or near, the top of the My Menu which can then be set to a custom button? That would at least help to access it more quickly.
This is first video of yours that I hav seen. You hav a great voice. You hav covered most of the areas for the Nikon z50 ii review. I hav seen many videos and yours is the best. Can you please cover precapture feature? I plan to move to mirrorless and shoot wildlife and birds. I already own 200-500mm and plan to use it with z50 ii. Can you please elaborate on the lack of IBIS with more sample shots of birds taken with this camera?
Hi! Is a 16-50 with Nikon Z50 II reliable for vlogging or UA-cam videos? I had problem with some previous cameras with sitting person in one place and camera sometimes check a focus (which was weird) and I don't want have it in new camera.
the Z50ii manual says it has waveform display on page 863, and I’ve seen that on lists of specs. I was going to say that yes Z50ii does have waveform, but I can’t seem to find anywhere in the camera to actually turn it on. Maybe the manual is wrong?
Sir thank you so much but what about the in built image stablization? I know this camera doesn't have it but how it is gonna affect the overall image/video quality?
For some reason, the Nikon guys here don't even have this camera on their radar! No advertisement, no announcement, no pre-orders, and even though it's been almost 10 days since it released globally, no traces of it can be found anywhere here! Very weird! I'm planning on getting one for my niece who's just getting into videography, and I'm sure I'll get one for myself once they eventually become available. This is the second time Nikon UAE is being late with a product release, the previous one being the Plena, which took them almost 16 months to stock post the official global release! I hope it's not an indication of how long this will take to be in stock!
When this camera picked out and tracked the black eye of a black crow during blue hour using an f6.3 Tamron zoom lens, I was utterly amazed. Did the same in your video on the cormorant, this camera sees more than a human can. This camera is incredibly capable for the money it's amazing value. And still there are folk who moan that it isn't a "D500 replacement" 😂
@@FramesTM yes and its a truly great lens, but my experience photographing a crow was with a Tamron, the 50-400 which works really well with the Z50ii 👍
@@forestassets4969You have pre-buffer, 15fps and 30fps modes in silent shutter, 10bit video, all kinds of subject recognition, birds included, Sony Has only face detection. Nikon has Has great FF glass for all types of wildlife photo, Sony-not so much. Most of all - A6400 is 5yo.
Gee m8. You really should test the camera more before uploading your review. ;-) It definitely do have waveforms. G15 "Brightness information display" in the Custom Setting Menu, will let you choose between histogram, waveform (small) and waveform (large).
How so. It's the same slow Sensor with a faster processor. It's not a proper D500 replacement for those that want to state otherwise. Blank forbid if Canon and Sony ever do make a proper stacked Cropped Sensor Camera.
A vloggers camera can never be wild life camera... Nikon's Z50II is aimed at vloggers and is falling in the category of Z30/Z50/Zfc.... Only change they have made is giving it features that make it entry level model for Bird photography and improved videography codecs.... It can never be called as replacement of D500.... Nikon user's still awaiting the release of Z90 with 33MP/45 MP APSc sensor dual card slots CFExpress SD ENEL 15c battery IBIS and 6K video capabilities....
If you look at the specs alone, it s**** all over the d500 it just has an entry level body as d500 was built, more like a higher end nikon this shows you how far mirrorless technology is ahead of dslrs
bro, wants everything in the price of peanuts 😂🤣, the camera is perfect value for the price, if you want more this camera is not for you, and just because it is not your cup of tea, doesn't mean it's failing in any way.
@@FramesTM D500 was built for action sport's Birding wildlife photography. It's build quality was what made it iconic. Very few people in this genre will want video features. Rather they would appreciate bigger robust weather sealed body, dual card slots (CFExpress SD), Bigger battery ENEL 15c, IBIS, Provision for battery grip and ofcourse higher MP APSc sensor maybe 33MP /40MP... If Z50II had these parameters then it would have become iconic like D500.
Product Review is bottom right in the i-menu so really easy to toggle on and off.

The DR in video looked quite good. Definitely up there with the competition
Can you do a comparison with Canon R7 please. I am using a Z50 and looking to upgrade.

Picked one up for a Friend the Day it was released. He really likes it, and I was impressed by it's Features and Performance, and I use a Z9

No this makes sense. Tbh, I was a bit apprehensive about it initially. But now that used it so much, it is surprisingly good. For birding it’s amazing
Is the performance improvements over the ZFC super significant? Thank you, great video.
Very significant improvement
Thank you! What is the better lens option? 16-50 + 50-250 or 18-140?

I hoep Nikon will make a Z70 or 90 soon with IBIS
I have a feeling they will release one to match the R7

Get the Nikon Z 23mm f1.7

please do a side by side video and image quality comparison of Z30 and Z50 Mark ii
Nothing to compare. Z30 is 10bit

any update on Nikon ZFC mark ii ?
Not yet. Next years likely
A comparison with fuji xs-20 would be great
Good idea
