Grey’s Anatomy is one of those shows that has been on forever, and has a huge and loyal fanbase. But there are some dark and disturbing secrets and scandals going on behind the scenes, and we’ll let you in on all of them. Find out the truth about why Brooke Smith’s character was written off the show, and why it upset Smith so much. Isaiah Washington used a horrible phrase to describe co-star T.R. Knight, and in doing so caused Knight to be unwillingly dragged out of the closet. Katherine Heigl was apparently such a nightmare to work with, that Shonda Rhimes refers to difficult people as “Heigls.” Another person who was allegedly a diva, was Patrick Dempsey, who was finally fired after a suspension. Omg I hated her. So glad she left.
She was so rude at the beginning (when she worked at Mercy West) She seemed like an antagonist and was only that. The writers didn't really think about her personality, they just made her rude and annoying. When she started working at Seattle Grey's she stopped being the antagonist to everyone (except Christina) and there wasn't much to tell about her except being gay.

All of these incidents have one connecting factor: Shonda Rhimes.
They also have this in common: they had serious issues they obviously couldn't deal with and/or they were shitty people to begin with.
If you think that T.R. Knight objecting to reduced screen time for his character after he was forced to come out as gay, and Brooke Smith being fired for portraying a lesbian character, are them having "serious issues they obviously couldn't deal with and/or they were shitty people to begin with," well, then, that says a lot about you, doesn't it?

Robyn Glover don't get me wrong. i definitely miss the original cast as well. there are so few of them left; however, there is a silver lining. luckily, the older characters left, while newer character came in season after season, at a fairly slow pace. nothing was rushed. we had time to love the new characters, before the old ones left. unfortunately, with the departure of jessica capshaw and sarah drew, i kinda feel like we're running low on really great, older characters. i haven't exactly fallen in love with the newer cast members yet, but most of them aren't main characters anyway. but yeah... we'll see what happens next season, i suppose. fingers crossed! 🤞

I miss the original cast too. The show wasn't the same when they killed George so I quit watching. But I would hate to have kept watching and lost all my other favorite characters one by one also. I hear there are very few left.

Honestly, Katherine Heigl wasn't wrong... her storyline was so crappy everything happening with Danny and stuff. it was ridiculous. When is it wrong to share your opinion on stuff that involves you. Washington was homophobic, made an apology and all was forgiven.. but Katherine said that she didn't like the material and the way she portrayed that material, and got the biggest diva brand. Double standards much!!!!
Shonda only defended Washington because she felt she had as he was also African American. If he had been Caucasian he would have been thrown under the bus. So she took it out on T.R. Knight instead and even brought Burke back for one episode.
i find that very hard to believe that it had anything to do with their race....but i guess for her, it was easier working with a homophobe rather than a opinionated diva....i still think it was such a slap in the face of the fans that katherine was let go because she spoke up about not liking the writing or whatever.. i kinda think that if it were one of the male actors, she would have gone easy on them.. but heigl already had bad reputation... idk.. i still like katherine... she doesn't seem like a horrible person to work with.. i mean she's done so much shit... why hire her if she's so hard to work with?! i can't get over not having her... she's the main reason why I've stuck with greys anatomy... little part of me still hopes that she will be brought back.. idk :(

Yeah but this was not killing characters off for a plot-line, it was killing characters off for drama off-set. It's also safe to assume they have a pretty big budget considering Greys has been on for 13 seasons and counting and has high viewership. So I have to disagree with you.

Well being that she is the shows creator and that all of those actors were nobodies before joining GA I think she is the only one who has the right to be a diva.

Tbh i still think Katherine Heigl had the right sentiment. She was easily the best actress among the cast but she was rarely given time to shine. But yep, she handled her frustration incorrectly.

Katherine Heigl is still really close friends with T.R Knight (George), Justin Chambers (Alex) and Kate Walsh (Addison), so to say that she was the most hated castmate is pushing it too far. Yes, she had problems with Shonda Rhimes, but as it turns out so do lot of the past castmembers. Shonda is the queen bee and if you dare to disagree with her about anything, she will give you the cold shoulder. But as long as you kiss her a** everything is okey.

Has anybody thought how interesting the show would be if Heigl returned? Doctors got an e-mail saying that a new neonatal surgeon has joined Grey Sloan Memorial. Noone knows it's Stevens, because she's got a new surname as she got married. And then just after Alex & Jo wedding, this new surgeon appears to be Izzie! I loved Alex and Izzie together but I don't want them to be together again. The plot twist with Alex hesitating and then understanding that Jo's love of his life would be great!

It actually does take away your entire point. No one said the boss doesn't have the last word - it's obvious. I'm saying that there are bosses that are really not that good and who don't respect their employees' opinions, which is very important since they can be ver valuable, not only on tv shows but in every other business. I can't judge since I obviously don't know the woman, but I rarely see so many actors being fired basically just for revenge on one show, so I think it's fair to wonder if she isn't the center of the problem.

I just wanted to say that Katherine Heigl is such a sweet lady. My uncle works in the TV business IN LA. He worked on the set of her show Doubt for months. My uncle has met her. He said she is absolutely fabulous and the actual problem was her MOTHER. Her mother is a helicopter parent. She caused problems on set and other things. So I don't believe that it is right for her to get all the criticism.

depends how you frame/define it. It's fine for someone to do that and think/say "turns out I'm lesbian", I'm not gonna be like "oh but you had guys too so you must be bi". This stuff is fluid and mostly the labels are there to help people define themselves, not to define people, if that makes sense? Labels aren't supposed to act as a system to neatly sort people. If you had a person's full romantic/sexual history, you could still not reliably sort them into a label, because labels are about how people view themselves, not about categorising their actions.
Ok, say, a person who, as you said, has slept with dudes but now only sleeps with women might frame that as.. "huh, I now realise I had relationships with men because I wanted to fit in/jesus said so/whatever cultural pressure, but now I've let loose and embraced my lesbian-ness" or she might say "I'm a bi woman who's on a woman-phase at the moment".. and the actions of those two women could be the exact same viewed from the outside.

People being upset about Kate's spin off would be ridiculous, she is obviously a pleasure to work with since she was only suppose to be on for a few episodes. She brings such a good aura and chemistry to the shows she is on.
How do you ignore the current drama with Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew? Also, have you guys watched the show past season 5? Erica Hahn exits and Arizona Robbins steps in and becomes Callie's new FEMALE love interest for about 7 seasons. Erica Hahn was a bad character and Brooke Smith had zero chemistry with Sara Ramirez. Had nothing to do with the gay relationship.
Gabs2010 I will miss Jessica Capshaw aka Arizona, she is a fantastic character even w/o Callie. I really didn't care for the sl how Callie/Arizona near the end. I will miss Arizona & I will miss Sarah Drew aka April as well. I wish both the actresses the BEST! I hope to see them both in the near future on another show b/c both are really great actresses. I can't believe they were both let go, damn shame.

Where does it say they were fired? Because I read somewhere that the simply chosen not to renew their contracts. Especially Sarah Drew, she is already cast to another show. Guys sometimes it isn't drama but simply wanting to change jobs. Which this show is to her. A JOB.

Face it, Shonda Is the biggest diva on G.A. (w/ greedy Ellen a Close 2nd..kissing up constantly to the former Shonda, she became just like her!)
If ABC Execs had gotten their heads out of their asses, they would've given her Creator credits & Quickly moved her out of the Showrunner position. She Clearly wasn't the balanced personality required in this tough job & she sooo decimated what started out as a very good show (for network TV) within just a few short seasons.
Though Sandra Oh was an exceptional actor with a unique & well developed character, played to a T, this show TOTALLY changed & headed deeply downhill after both Heigle & Knight were 'released'. Katherine is an exceptional actor who was waaay more talented than Anyone else casted (Sandra excluded) & she deserved Any time needed for her movies... They were Damn Lucky to have her at all!
Finally, & again w/the Execs, HOW did they miss the fact that 1) Shonda was spread waaay to thin, continually developing new shows (No Wonder she couldn't keep Grey's stable & on target!), & 2) Every show she created headed Straight for the crapper by season 3... HELLO? Scandal Completely changed its tone, becoming more gratuitously violent & downright Stupid after S 3, when it had started so song & interesting. Same w/ How to Get Away w/Murder..So intriguing & well acted at 1st, then it also turned stupid.
The common denominator at the Heart of All these shows, & their downfalls lies Shonda. The Only explanation for allowing this string of disasters is that the Execs were willing to pimp out any crap just to keep the Whole TGI Friday BS going. And, sorry to all 'addicted' fans, the saddest thing about all of this is that the viewership is what fueled (& continued to) the whole drama in these dramas! Wake Up folks & get some discernment here.. Ie, get a Life not emotionally addicted to frickin TV shows! There are Many other healthier ways to unwind from the day or step out of the insane pace of Life for a bit.

I agree. George was the only character that I didn't dislike on some level. I like all the characters, but there are things I strongly dislike about all of them. As we're all flawed, I get this. But George was the only character I found that I had no issues with.
And now we can add to this firing Sarah and Jessica. Writing off two of the most beloved fan favorite characters, April and Arizona.. for Maggie. A character that no one likes.
Everything considered, they could not have handled this any worse, or more disrespectfully.

I think saying Shonda finds “writing about lesbian relationships too difficult” is very incorrect. The show has won several GLAAD awards and awards for LGBT representation. Calzona is proof that she can write about lesbian relationships. There are lots of stories of how Brooke/Erica had poor chemistry with cast mates off-screen and on-screen. I mean, we can see the awkwardness on-screen 😆 People also like to say the gay thing is why Sadie got written off of the show. No, I think they were just waiting for the right on-screen chemistry, which is what we got with JCap/Arizona. I mean, she was only supposed to be on the show for a few episodes, but that turned into several seasons. (Side Note: I am going to miss Arizona and April. I find the excuse that they don’t know what to write for them absolute BS. I can bet that every person in this comments section that loves Arizona and/or April could come up with at least one storyline for the characters.)
I’m guessing the whole Alex/Cristina “who can break the most bad news in the shortest amount of time” became the time in Season 1 where Alex/Cristina bet on who can deliver the most good news in the shortest amount of time (while trying to avoid the hugging/crying in the process). I think if they were really horrified by the idea, then they wouldn’t have done any version of the story (and I would hardly call this “end[ing] up on the cutting room floor” as they did go through with it in a way). Furthermore, the idea of them betting on who can deliver the news the fastest isn’t as horrible as the video tries to make it seem. Doctors/police officers/etc. often make jokes or can seem insensitive towards things like death because that’s a coping mechanism that keeps them sane. My dad was a cop and worked on fatal accidents for years. He had to make jokes about what he saw to stay sane. That doesn’t mean he is heartless or uncaring.
Also, I think it is weird that this video just came out, but all of the “secrets” are years old 😆

When Heigl said something about toxic workset people immediately go after her then when Ellen said it people applause for her bravery. Heigl may be a Diva, but she's honest that's for sure. She's not afraid to spit facts and voice out her opinion so yeah. Lots of people can hate her but it will not remove the fact that she's one of the best actress that Grey's had.

Every time I watch this series, I'm less and less smitten with Derek. I notice each time I go through the series all the times he felt himself and his career more important than Meredith's. There were times when he took her ideas, ran with them, and then took credit. Then didn't understand why she was upset.That one gets me every time. The way he always second guessed everyone else like he should always get the final decision. He just had such a sense of entitlement to him. I don't understand why so many are still so "McDreamy" about him. My husband, who just absorbs the show from hearing it in the background always says "His hair isn't that special. Doesn't fix the fact that he's a dick. Pretty only gets you so far" :)
How exactly Meredith is great? She cheated, manipulated and shady person. You're speaking as if she is a sanit. So, just doing good in career and career advancement is sufficient? Meredith is one of the shallow characters and annoying ones.

I watched this show recently and was surprised how this became a hit. It is a show full of shitty drama and sleeping around rather than showing interesting medicine like the good doctor. This show is a travesty for good and honest doctors because here it simply shows them to sleep with everyone in the hospital and residents to conduct and overrule rules. It's just my opinion, so don't get yours on a tight leash.

1) Ellen's situation after Patrick's departure is overdramatized here, and I have read her interview about it, it was really bad with all that pressure when she was on a holiday in Italy but she didn't exagerate this much.
2) It genuinely seems that Brooke Smith was let go, because of lack of chemistry because they pretty soon hired Jessica Capshaw after her departure, so doesn't seem that ABC had problem with gay characters.
3) Ellen having issues with Kate over Private Practice because she wanted that, seems weird because she already had the titular role.
4) And finally, Sarah Drew getting grossed out due to cow blood, chicken fat, etc. doesn't seem a dark secret, it is a quite common reaction to that kind of stuff.

yeah, this video obviously embellishes to a maximum extent. the only real drama was with isiah washington/t.r. knight and katherine heigl. i hadn't heard anything about jesse williams having an affair, but that has little to do with grey's anatomy. it's not like minka kelly is a grey's cast member or something.
anyway, the rest of it is kinda silly. you gotta take it all with a grain of salt, ya know?
I noticed its easier for people to blame Ellen for Sarah's and Jessicas departure then thinking about the simple fact that they are sick of doing this show. Almost all of them have expressed at one time or another wanting to explore other projects. Another thing is April's and Arizona's story had stalled and they were flailing around trying to drum up a story. So they decided to go another way and let the actresses go. They did the same in Once Upon A Time. It didnt work but they tried. Also Sarah was going to headline another show but it got dropped. So she obviously wasn't planning on staying. All this drama over nothing.

the wording of this is so important. If you pay attention, you can really see how easy it is to think of something one way just because of the wording. The amount of times something "allegedly" happened and they continued talking as if it definitely happened is crazy. You can't say "so and so allegedly said this, therefore she felt this way, and this way and that" You don't know how she felt because you don't even know if it happened.

I loved the original cast. They're like a night time soap opera.
you have to keep most of the original characters so that the audience who watched it from beginning continue to feel invested in it and can explain why the characters are the way they are .
I don't feel invested in the current seasons because so many of the original characters that made the show what it was are gone!
Shonda has to STOP firing people!! She has to figure out ways to fix her character flaws or stop hiring shitty actors who are problematic on the set.
I started rewatching the series from the beginning I'm up to season 4 and the character development was so good!! Even the introduction of her younger sister Lexie Grey was a great start to Simply building on the original cast we were just getting over the loss of Preston Burke and then it's like Shonda lost her mind over the next few seasons and I lost interest!
you can't help but love the show in the 1st 4-5 seasons...
my sister's watching the current seasons and I can't feel invested in the current seasons because so many of the original characters are gone! People need to know about McDreamy, dr. Montgomery-Shepherd, McSteamy, Cristina Yang, Preston Burke... these characters are critical to loving the show.

I feel like Grey's isn't going anywhere anymore... like... as a writer I can't see a way to neatly wrap up the series making everything mean something. And I feel like any decent story should have a natural end point so that disappoints me. I'm only caught up to what's on netflix, but... yea. Like, how can you end the show? Kill Mer? The only natural end I can see is with Mer dying now. They should have wrapped it up ages ago.
It’s hard to keep a show running for so long. I really loved Dr Addison, it was different at private practice, her charm at greys was off the charts.

So much of this is false, do your research. Katherine Heigl, actually adopted a child and was given "parental leave" for it, but later decided she wanted to focus on her family, she was intended to return for the last 5 episode of season 6 but didn't show up for filming as they let her out of her contract. TR Knight, made the choice to leave the show, for creative decisions, but it was ultimately his choice to leave, which also isn't mentioned is that Heigl who was his best friend found it difficult to stay on the set given how he was treated. Dempsey was not having an affair which Shonda, and Ellen and Patrick have all publicly stated which you could have found had you taken two seconds to do ANY research on the BS in this video. Patrick had actually wanted to leave the show for many seasons given how long it has gone on and the only way to do it was to kill Derek as in the show he never would have left Mer and the kids. As for Ellen show ONE SHRED of her saying anything about this, you twisted what she said about Mer not needing a man around, Looked like Williams cause he was in a relationship!?
