Don't forget some trees are cheap to place, but you can get a new card for it. So in 1 turn you can place a card and get a new card. Evenso with mushrooms if you get them in the beginning of the game. I don't play for the hase and vox anymore, not for birds anymore, mostly cards under the tree and wolfs and dears and a lot of trees (15+)
Well there’s my favorite the bat 🦇 strategy. Unfortunately you need at least 3 different species of bats in your forest to score points. However there are 4 species of bats and 3 of each so it’s possible to get them all especially if your opponents are not going the bat route. Once you have 3 different species each and every bat you have is 5 points. Of course there’s more to it, it might take time to pull off, because you’ll also want to find a gnat, the gnat will allow you to play bats for free. Now if you only have a couple of bats it’s best to use your gnat ahead of time, there’s a good chance you might get another gnat. Also getting doormouse on the same tree as a bat is good too, but the bats and gnat should be the first priority. Of course if you can get a couple of tree frogs too even better. Because they score if you have gnats. So while you’re at it getting some common toads and the tree fern will ultimately give you a huge score! That’s why I call it my amphibian, gnats and bats and door mice strategy!
I love it. My very first strategy was the doormouse / bat because it was so obvious when I picked up my first doormouse. I did follow up with the bats but then I got distracted by all the other options that kept popping up 😄
@@RuletheGame2023 yeah if you go the bat strategy you have to focus on the bats before the dormouse, you have to get 3 species of bats first, then you can play the dormouse. And more bats too if you want. I also made 8 videos of 8 different strategies in forest shuffle for my UA-cam channel. I’ve uploaded most of them already.
In our games, the bats (and door mice) were the cards that were often left in the middle, as more people went for the bigger animals like deer, wolf, lynx and boar. What happens usually is that a ton of trees get used as payment for cards, with only minimal animal cards being left open in the middle. I know it is kind of obvious, but It is usually best, especially in 3 or 4 player games to simply focus on the types of animals that are being left open by other players, instead of of choosing any that other players are competing with. Try to focus on the important ones first, that have only a few of them. In this example it isn't the bats that are scarce, it's the gnats. As long as you get at least 3 different bats, any bat will do.
The most important fun thing about the game is that is relatively deep for a very short duration of play. I hope it is going to be available in Australia soon.
I have gone for having all kinds of trees in my forest before, but I don't do that anymore since I think that it is too much effort for not enough points. I have won by having the largest number of trees many times though. Sometimes so that I can get points from the number of trees but lately also because all of my scoring cards were on the same side of the trees and therefore, I needed all the trees to put down the scoring cards. I have even started using saplings regularly since they have no cost but they still count as a tree and you can use them for your scoring strategies.

That has been my strategy in the last few games, too ;-)
I even planted saplings because they are for free.
To benefit most of the mushrooms, you should play them early game, like turn 2 or 3

I will keep your observations in mind when I get this game.

@@Animal_board_gamer , cool, I will have to check them out.

The Hare/ fox combo should be played with a third card, the silver fir. Place all your hares on the silver fir and it rampes your score very naisly!
Great tips! I just learned about this game but I'm really excited about all of the possibilities! Thanks for the video :)
Thanks for the kind comment.
Other combo, i have seen ramp up quickly, chess nut / woodbee. 5 cheesnuts with 3 woodbees (lucky draw!) boosts your score massevily.
Interesting. I will have to check these combinations out, too.
Thanks so much for this video! really helped me out during family game night :)
You are welcome. Which strategy worked for you?
Looking forward to Forest Shuffle when it hits the stores. For now it's unavailable Down Under.
I hope that you will get your hands on it soon. I love this game. It is so simple in its mechanism but there are so many strategies you can play.

I agree. It is very deep for a short game. The mechanism is also fairly simple but you still have to make so many decisions all the time.
Do you recommend to plant trees as many as possible or to fullfill certain number of trees?

Brasil loves This game so much!
I am glad. Thanks for the feedback. And check out some of the other games on the channel. 😀
In a two player game, i normally hit over 400 points
Yeah, in the meantime, we also regularly end up in the 300-400s, depending when the third winter shows up. But 400 is really good!
Then you are either scoring incorrectly, or playing someone who has no clue what they are doing.
400 seems like too high to hit consistently. 300 in a 2 player game is pretty normal, however
