Priceless line! Good point well made.

A great interview. It's nice to see Josh and Rhys together, I don't think i've seen an interview with just them before. One of the great things about The Horrors is the different combinations that they make, they're such interesting people, and they bring out different aspects in each other, depending on who they're with.

I honestly don't really download any music unless I'm really sure my chances of finding it in a shop near me are slim, or if certain songs aren't released on an album for whatever reason. Downloading music is free, a whole album, but I really appreciate certain stuff so much that I prefer buying it to just taking it . . . I plan on going into the music career myself, I'm sixteen.

its fine downloading songs or an album if your paying for them i think... personally i do prefer to get hard copies of the music, so you have it to play and you can put it on mp3's or ipods if you want, but you still have the back up and the proudness of owning that cd/record lol

Same here, There are no record shops anywhere near me. There's a HMV but thats bollocks, naturally. I admit the closest I've gotten to any form of music magic was just impulse buying a cd from hmv. That kind of depresses me. I'm 17 so I've never had the experiance of spending hours leafing through lps with like-minded music fans discussing new underground music and discovering new bands. The internet has sort of destroyed that because major labels are absorbing the 'indie culture'.

" 'It makes me feel like I'm listening to _______, rather than, 'they sound like___'." Well put. Doubt it will catch on.

I can see the benifits, but it still leaves an open window for free downloading. It is detrimental stuff. I agree that x-factor is bad aswell, it highlights music as a dispensible commodity rather then an art form which I'm highly against.
And the impulse buy was 'strange house'. I heard count in fives being played, I asked what it was then bought the album. It was the first album I ever bought and it was a great feeling to get into a band like that. I wish I could do it more often.

Well playing music is a job for these people. It's the same as not paying a builder of a doctor for their work. Granted, builders and doctors are more important jobs but still, they have to make a living and just because their profession is an art doesn't mean it shouldn't be payed for.

if you buy a record in a shop and think it's shit, you take it back and get your money back. I don't see a real difference in that and downloading something, thinking it's shit, so deleting it off. Really just a matter of if you're lazy or not.
But really, there's tons of songs that are free anywhere on the internet, like on UA-cam, by the time you know it you've pretty much listened to a whole fucking album anyway, so you go off to buy it. That's just what I've been through.

The thing about downloading for me is that I do it because I can't afford to buy a CD or a vinyl. So does this mean I'm not allowed to listen to music?

So essentially most new bands are going on myspace and facebook hoping to be picked up by a mojor label scout as the next 'Wombats' or the next 'arctic monkeys'. I think the glorification of indie music has almost stopped it dead in it's tracks, its no longer really progresive anymore and only few individuals really try and bring somthing different to the table. And of course, these 'radical' bands are a gamble for most labels who won't sign them because they're afraid that people wont like them

  • @psychedelity

@AmuseMe543 well i mean if people cant afford records they dont really have a choice - but idk if people do have money then they should definitely buy music

I couldn't hear what was said near the end about why CD's are bad. And he said something like apparently you won't be able to play CD's for whatever reason in several years, but vinyls will last forever.
    1) I don't get why put CD's in the same group as downloadable songs. A CD is a physical object made to be bought to and listened like an "album" and wasn't a part of the "individual song" thing today.
    2) You can fuck up vinyl copies, too. All my CD's are fine because I don't fuck them up.

Now I don't quite agree with that. I understand downloading a demo of their stuff is a cool idea, but there is always going to be pirate downloading which I don't agree with. And the idea of stealing a bands tunes just beause you don't think it's worth the money is one I don't really see the point in. If you think it's shit, why bother taking the stuff?

  • @landondonovanify

I hate bands that get pissed off about people wanting to free music. Your not going to make money off of being an artist, so deal with it.

They produce some great music, but this whole lets-play-with-our-hair, wear-dark-clothes, smoke-weed demeanor makes them look like they're trying too hard to be cool. It's the music that counts though!

last time this band was remotely interesting was in 2009 its funny how they talk about moving on to new things when they have been playing garbage since the end of their primary colors tour.
