Sing to your Ancestors

Sing to your ancestors. Sing from the deep marrow of your being.
Sing in acknowledgement of your ancestors' hardships and struggles. Sing for their love and joy. Sing for all the songs that were forgotten. Sing because you are the ancestor altar.
Your voice is a precious offering. Your voice is a prayer.
When you reach out to your ancestors, they reach back. Sing to them, and they will sing to you. In your dreams. In your waking life as you walk your path. Listen for their voices.

Hello!
Singing to my ancestors... I admit that scares me.
I wouldn’t know what to tell them. You don’t know how I admire that you can do this.
Singing to my ancestors... I can try. Your voice is a wisp fire in a forest at dusk that lights the way.
I close my eyes and see vertical stones covered with moss and lichens, there is a stream, thick trees and so old to become gnarled, there is this fatuous fire that shines in front of me. There are figures among the stones, they give me their backs and look to the sky: the moon is full.
Your singing is powerful, I allow myself to download it and use it in meditation in a moment of calm and peace.
