I had some guy, who was approaching me, yell at me because I stepped off the path to put distance between us. Called me racist. It was 6:30am in a city park where I routinely walked my dog. Seems he didn't understand that many assaults on solitary women happen in parks and I was using caution by giving myself the advantage of distance. There were of course other dog walkers and joggers in the vicinity, I carry pepper spray and routinely step off the path when people approach. Practicing caution does not make me racist.

People are so eager to prove they aren’t racist, bigots, (fill in the blank) that they will fight their own survival instincts when they know someone isn’t right. Never be more afraid of being called names than being assaulted or murdered.

I am going to have my daughter write out her experience last summer. It was quite frightening. She called me when they returned home from a camping trip deep in the Cascade Mountains. The first thing she said was “Mom, we had something very scary happen, but I had my Dave Paulides recommended backpack with me and we got safely out danger. She said had she not had those essentials, one being personal protection, she does not know if they would have made it out OK. She, her husband and their two young children knew what to do and THEY DID IT. All thanks to your advice and recommendations.
She also said that they had practiced with the kids what to do and everyone was on point.
Yes, your knowledge (and sharing it) is saving lives.I thank you with all my heart.

When we were children, my dad taught us 3 kids how to safely handle, shoot, clean, and store firearms. We went to ranges periodically for target shooting. I later joined the U.S. Navy and won a marksmanship award. I now have a concealed carry permit. A few years ago, a man tried to break into my house at about 2 a.m. I was so angry at him for disturbing my sleep that I forgot all about my guns, and just scared him off by yelling at him! I’m a 61-year-old woman and believe we should all learn safe firearm skills growing up, just like learning how to do basic home maintenance, car maintenance, or first aid.

Wow. I don't have the best words here but I have lived on the North Kitsap Peninsula all my life with the exception of 1971 to 1981. In the ten years I was out of state I lived, worked, and thoroughly enjoyed being in Vail, Colorado. Then after two outstanding years my work took me to Pueblo also in Colorado. That was some major culture shock. Lastly I was hired by a new company and relocated to a small town just North of Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm turning 75 this month and in all my years I never saw a cryptid until I came to rest at our ranch just outside of Poulsbo WA. Been here with my husband since '94. Raised two horses together, trained them to saddle and trail rode until. 2017-2018 when in one single season late spring, mid summer everything changed. My beloved husband, suffered a stroke which severely disabled him, my oldest son, 53years old died in the same hospital I gave birth to him, and while both were in hospital my mare sickened and I had to put her down in our pasture and buried her were she died. She was 26. Also during this time the old growth forest that surrounded our property extending hundreds of acres, was clear cut. It was the following spring that I saw a mother Big Foot and what appeared to her youngster, sitting on our fence line in the brush in the clear cut, right off the back pasture 50 yards from the house. So my friend and I started walking across the pasture to get a better look. Well she stayed right there until we closed the distance, slowly, and at about 20 yards they both vanished. No sound, no movement just gone, poof! It didn't seem threatened and we didn't either, just gazed at each other while getting closer and they disappeared. So their is my long account of my travels, and I have other very strange happings, but that will be some other time because I already have gone on too long here. But , as a side note, the friend I shared this sighting with, had recommended you to me and I eventually subscribed to your channel. Thank God,
my husband is still alive, and my younger son lives next door, and that is a joy. You are a fascinating man.

My Lord, that last story tore at my heart. Think of Richard’s father who already lost a son to cancer. Wow.
I think back to all the times my mom and I dropped off my dad to fish and went to park and wait.
Once, I believe it was Highway 89 or old 89, this is near Tahoe. Mom and I were waiting a ways off the road on a dirt road for dad. Mom was seated reading in a camp chair and I was on an old stump about 15 feet from her near our truck. Suddenly, this weird looking dirty dude walked right between us. He said nothing. Had no backpack. Didn’t look at us. Mom and I looked at each other as he paused maybe a few car lengths in front of the truck. Immediately we got into the truck and locked the doors. My dad came walking up two minutes later and the dude walked on.
When I think of all the times my mom sat alone waiting for dad…
That was the 1980s. She had her little gun but honestly, she didn’t know how to use it.
We really took chances. Some people never think anything will happen to them.

Women just don’t think like men do. Even bad men treat them well hoping for sex right up to the minute they attack. Men get the opposite all the time from childhood and therefore understand the ever present potential for violent conflict.
My grandad, RIP, used to tell a story of how he pulled up on a naive young White woman who pulled over to help 2 black men who had broke down on the side of a dark road in the 50s or 60s. He stuck his pistol in his pocket and walked up on them and told the lady in no uncertain terms to get back in her car and get the hell out of there. He offered to call the police to come help the men (a brilliant test on his part) and they wanted nothing to do w that. The guys were clearly not broke down and were trolling for White women to rape and murder before tossing in the woods. He saved her life that night. Hundreds of thousands of other women have not been so lucky.

A friend and I were camped up near the top of that pass, only five campsites, no amenities, . She had her German Shepard and I had my Rottweiler. Both were tethered near us. It was about 10 pm, we're sitting close the fire when our dogs started going nuts and we were surprised to see a guy come out of the dark forest, walk briskly by us, and continue on into the forest From what I could tell he didn't have a flashlight or any type of hiking/camping gear.. . He never looked at us, not even a glance nor paid any attention to the now-insane large dogs. Of course we both are carrying and that was a comfort. But when you factor in this guy is tromping the woods, in the dark, that was the most unsettling of all. This small campground is very remote, little used, it's miles of forest in either direction and he's walking around in the dark?

I don't usually comment, but Dave said something that hit home. Anyone brought up with firearms knows how dangerous they can be and knows to respect them. Alot of people think guns are horrible things. Which in the hands of someone that doesn't respect them very well can be! But please people remember guns don't kill people, people kill people! Guns are a tool and as long as used responsibly it's no different than using and carrying a hammer. Please teach your children as soon as possible about how to use and respect firearms, that would help make this world a better place! Most of the accidents and shootings we see come from people who have never been educated with firearms or kids that think it's like a video game where you get three lives. Everything we hold dear starts with the education of our youth! Thank for all you do Dave.

And eye-opener for me as to vulnerability while camping, was the kidnapping of 7 year old Susan Jaeger. She was kidnapped in 1974 in the Missouri Headwaters State Park. She slept in a tent with an older sibling, and the family woke up in the morning to find her missing. The kidnapper had slit the tent with a knife and taken Susan. They only found remnants of her at a campsite a year later. Her murderer was eventually caught. The family lived down the road from me. When I eventually had children, I never allowed them to sleep in a tent or anywhere I could not be right there with them, while camping.

My husband and I both carry when in the woods and in some other situations. We don’t hunt. We both learned gun safety and how to shoot growing up. We go to the range often. My father taught gun safety and my brother is 10 years older than me and a Marine, and he would have me shooting on weekends when I was a teenager. Of course as a teen girl, I had other things in mind to be doing with my weekend but I am glad I spent the time with him not only learning how to handle a weapon but what I was comfortable with. And of course the more practice the better. I’ve only come close to having to use a handgun once and that was because of a man. I was a little ahead of the group and confronted. I won’t say here what he said. I told him to back away and drew my pistol and as I did yelled for the rest of my group- my husband is a fire fighter so there were 3 firefighters and 2 cops that came up quickly behind me. I’ll just say they had “words”. I later found out he assaulted two other women in the same area the following year, and I was a witness for them. He had a said the same thing to them as to me but they were alone, unarmed. I don’t go running or biking alone even in my own neighborhood anymore. That has been absolutely ruined for me. I obviously feel horrible for the two other women, and I fear for my daughters. We make sure they have learned all they can.

I was around 11000 feet on a trail just before the tree line ended. I had to go number one. Steep grade above and below trail. I looked both ways up and down saw no one. I preceded to relieve myself. I finished and maybe walked 50 feet and there was a woman there. She was watching me the whole time. I apologized to her. She replied that she didn’t mind. I was creeped out. You just never know who is there. I ran into quite a few odd ducks high altitude in Colorado when i lived there.

Hi Dave, Villagers. When I was 16-17.my cousin and I went hunting with our shotguns in New England. We lived in a small town and railroad tracks were our way of getting out to the woods. The tracks ran along a river and there was high ground to the right with the river and flat land to the left. As we got pretty far out to an area we would walk into the woods we hear someone firing a shotgun on the high ground to our left. We had the orange hats and vests and just thought there were other hunters doing what we were doing. They kept firing and then we heard noise in the maple tree leaves just above our heads. It was shotgun pellets ripping through the leaves maybe 3 -4 feet above us. We yelled out " hey, there's people here" thinking they were shooting at game that happened to be between us and the shooter. They stopped for a sec and started firing again. The pellets left holes in the leaves you can see the sun through. We were kinda pinned down and could not see who was shooting but they kept shooting until, we yelled if you don't stop we will shoot back. They fired one more round and we opened up in the general direction. My cousin had a pump action 12,I had a semi auto. Bird shot was sent back to them. They did not shoot anymore after that. We went home and said forget going back there. Thing is back in the day our bright orange hats and vest were easy to see. They knew we were there. I don't know if they were trying to be funny or had other intentions but playing around by shooting at other hunters is pretty stupid. We thought they were having a hard time shooting down a steep incline as it's not easy to do and get on target but they were getting closer so after warning them.we had no choice. There are some weird people in the woods if we were unarmed they may have come down to us and shot us at close range. They obviously cared nothing about being safe. God Bless be safe and thanks for your excellent show!!

In Albany, Oregon (Linn Country, approx. 45mins north of the Eugene park) the primary painted rock park is "Talking Water Gardens." When I began taking my grandson for walks there because of the groomed vehicle wide easy stroller trails and saw how much the kids enjoy looking for the rocks while going for walks with their families I soon began priming rocks with a flat surface white and black and then painting either designs or meaningful quotes on them to hide for the kids as well. It's a great activity that encourages today's kids to put the electronics down and actually spend some outdoor time with their families. Check your local areas because it is a quality nationwide activity.

Our scenic, rugged coastline and deep, dark, rainforests have a tendency to activate the dullest if imaginations. Oregon's history is rich, from the fossils as old/older than the Eocene epoch of the Paleogene period; the many oral traditions about Chinook and Coyote from the first peoples; a multitude of shipwrecks during the days of tall ships, one...the Beeswax Wreck (recently found) of the late 18th century which inspired the cult film GOONIES; and stories of early explorers and pioneer wagon trains, lend a sense of adventure and mystery to our region. 🙂

I headed to my truck to leave as I got out of the woods there were 3 guys looked the same as the 1st one. They eyed balled me for a minute and then asked what my purpose was in the woods? I repeated I am not here and your talking to no one. Luckily for me it worked and I never went back to that place.

Back in the mid 80s. My husband and I and our two children 2 and 4 years old , were heading back to Nebraska after spending our two week vacation in Eureka Montana with his parents and other family. I Don remember exactly where we were but we were still in the state on Montana. We must have just gotten gas ,as we always took interstate but this incident was on the side of a two lane road. My husband always stopped to help anyone that was on the side of the road. There was a car pulled off and two long haired scruffy men were outside the car with the hood up. They looked like convicts that had escaped to me as I remember saying this to him as he was flipping around to head back to help them. My husband also had hair down to his behind so it wasn't that I judged them for their hair. It was a feeling I had in my gut. I looked at my husband and grabbed his are and very sternly ( and I never spoke to him this way as he had not always been nice guy to me after we married) I told him angerly to remember he had his two little babies with him now and he best not put them in danger just because he was a tough guy. When we slowed down up next to the car he rolled his window down a few inches and he did have a pistol right down next to his seat with his hand on it. The first thing I noticed were 2 children in the back seat. Both kids light completions and bright blonde hair. These men had dark hair and dark completions. The kids appeared around 2 and 3 . Both were crying and crying and one was saying momma I want my momma. I could feel the one guy looking at me ,watching the kids in their back seat. I acted uninterested and did not look at the kids any more.. I started filing my fingernails trying to remain calm and act carefree.. He made a step back to block my view and my husband noticed this. I want to say they needed fuel and a fuel filter. Our car was packed with car seats pillows cooler etc in the back seat so there was no room for anyone to ride with us and that is what the one guy said. He would just hop in with us and catch a ride to the gas station. My husband cut him off and told him NO I will bring it back to you. While my wife and kids grab something to eat. I will be back in 10 min. This was before cell phones so we could not call the police right away. As we left the one man opened the back door and was yelling at the kids to be quiet and the other was watching us leave. I quietly ask my husband if he was really going to bring gas back. He said hell no. Then he shocked me as I didn't think he was really paying attention to anything but the guy he was talking to. He said I think those kids may have been kidnapped. I screamed me to that was exactly my thoughts . I said we got to get to , and my husband finished my sentence and said A PHONE. yes but not at this exit. We are getting on the interstate and flying down to the second exit after we get going. Why because I feel like they are trying to get a different car. The reason they are parked off the road that don't have many people driving on it. And they are back behind stuff that is blocking the other roads view. So basically no one could see them if the stole our car. He had a pistol tucked in the front of his Jenes . I don't belive anything is wrong with that car and they may come looking for us because you saw those little kids crying for mommy. He stated he did to out the corner of his eyes and seen the guy back up to block my view. I was shocked he paid attention to everything that was going on around him and got us out of there quickly. We did stop and I made a call inside a busy gas station while he watched through the windows for the two guys in any car. I gave a description of the men and the car the kids and told them one had a gun stick in his Jones trying to hide it but I didn't know if the other man was armed. I would say he was. I told how he stepped back to block my view of the kids . I was told multiple officers were in route and state troopers were notified, before I hung up and we jumped back inside the car securing our own children and at that time there was no speed limit in Montana and my husband made good use of this and keeping our safety in mind while he put distance between us and those men. I couldn't sleep for weeks as I would wake up to that child crying for his momma and it would make me sick to my stomach . I worried about those kids and said many many prayers for them. I tried to call that police department to find out what happened but I was not told any info as I was not family.

The only plausible answer to permanent disappearances and disappearances that occur practically in front of other peoples faces, dogs included, is they are literally being snatched from our dimension and into the parallel dimension into which the victim or victim's are taken. This very type of disappearance of human beings has been chronicled in the Middle Ages and prior to that time throughout England. I sat one night over 20 years ago and read every story regarding this terrible type of event on the internet. Oftentimes, it was the mayor of the town who chronicled these disappearances because they could write. Also, a lot of the stories described that the victim or victim's could be plainly heard calling or crying for help

To the lady who had an experience at Ruff Park, out near Camp Creek,
The first thing that caught my attention was "transparent". This transparent being you described as a man, no clothing description but looked like it was covered in mud or something.
    1. Many people describe sabe', "it looked too much like a man to be an ape," and "it was covered in hair", and quite a few have reported similar experiences with them being transparent, or just disappearing. This includes me, I am not afraid of what anyone thinks.
    2. What I seen was a transparent being, its facial features and outline were discernable. It was shaped like a Sasquatch, the features were similar to Neanderthal with a prominent brow line and almost no chin. It was tall, 7-8 feet maybe and was about 16 feet away just off the trail.
Dave it was like a clear plastic 3D figure, or a jellyfish, and it distorted the background behind it. This is how she could see the facial features. I also suspect what seemed, "like it was covered with mud," was wet, matted, or patchy hair.
    More about what I experienced:
A quarter-mile before I seen this transparent being, I thought I had smelled the stinkiest bear I ever smelled. I would have been on top of it for it to be so strong. But there was no sign, tracks, or crashing from the brush. I stopped and even went back 20 feet to see if it was on the narrow strip of shore on the lake side of the trail below the brush, the smell was gone and no sign of a bear.
    2. What I seen and experienced further down the trail made me question my sanity. When I rubbed my eyes a few times and looked again. I heard voices coming down the trail and looked away and when I looked back it was gone. I wasn't afraid of it but was afraid I had lost my mind. I attempted to explain it away and the stench I smelled 1/4 of a mile earlier. I remembered a sighting from an article many years ago, the person didn't see anything, looked away and when they looked back it was in the treeline along the creek they were wading. Looking for this article was not the beginning of my search for some explanation. I had considered soil types, the local Geology, and other scientific/technological explanations as well.
Along the way I found multiple sightings which were very similar to my experience. I also realized there may have been other incidents before this happened. I once blamed these on transients, pranksters, mischievous teens, and one hunter who had the worst elk call/bugle I had ever heard. Some which really weren't likely and with all I hear from others I question these incidents now.
Yes Dave, I always have someone to check in with who knows my plan and expected return time. I don't always pack a sidearm, it depends on how much traffic a trail gets or how deep into the woods I go. And I always have a radio with full battery power just in case, cell phones rarely work out in the woods unless you get lucky on a mountain top.
Finally, this area of the McKenzie is backed by Camp Creek, a rural area on the edge of hundreds of miles of National Forest and the Cascade Mountains.
I am about 100 miles away from this park on the McKenzie. Most of my incidents have been in the Dunes National Recreation Area, which connects to the Elliot State Forest, Umpqua National Forest, and Siuslaw National Forest. I found other reports in both of our surrounding areas...I suspect there are many incidents which are never heard of out of fear of being labeled or ostracized by others.

Thank you for commenting about your experience. The only detail I could make out on him, was his eyes the rest of his face, arms and legs looked as someone would that was covered in mud then opened their eyes. You are right on about the plastic. If you took this mud man, faded him out, where you could barely see him then printed him out on a plastic sheet. That is what he looked like. I was able to see him walking his arms swinging normally. What I find very interesting is, that he would look down at the ground as if to watch out where he was walking. I didn't smell anything unusual and once he left the grass and walked quickly into the trees he vanished.

@@paulafugate3210 I have found that most people doubt someone's supernatural experience until they have it themselves. They think people that had the experience are crazy. Glad you are ok!! 🙂

I had an experience at the Tahkenitch Campground near the Dunes National Recreation Area along the Oregon Coast. This happened a few years ago in midsummer. As we were pulling into our campsite at the edge of the campground I saw a large, tall shadow figure lingering near the picnic table. It vanished quickly as we pulled the car into the parking spot. I was the only one who saw it and my husband still doubts I saw anything, but I know what I saw. Despite this we decided to camp there for the night there. For the rest of the evening, I felt uneasy and I had a feeling of being watched. I was very happy to awake to a sunny morning, no trace of negative energy and we left promptly. After some research I found there have been various Sasquatch sightings in the area and at least one disappearance. The disappearance was of a young man riding his motorcycle down to Reedsport from Portland who never arrived. I can't remember what year this occurred. It sure is a beautiful area but I am wary of camping there again! I would like to hear any experiences you have had in this area.

Very much agree with you about first having training before carrying a gun. My Dad was a Gunnery Sgt. during Vietnam. He taught me how to use a firearm the right way from a young age. And stressed safety, safety, and more gun safety.

This channel has definately made me more aware of my surroundings. It must be a life altering experience to see an orb. So appreciate hearing of these shared experiences. As for the painted rocks...I have come across some at the park, and then I of course hid them again! 😊

When it comes to firearms I agree with your comments. I’m similar to your background and my Father taught me, then the Marine Corps and followed up with my law enforcement career. The shooting skills are perishable and I’ve felt it’s my responsibility to stay on top of those skills not just for my safety, but the people around me. I’m fortunate enough to live on a big ranch so it’s not difficult to shoot. Thank you for helping bring these points to the public. Keep up the great work you do 😊👍

Nice plug on the Missing 411 hat (merch), David! lol I'm hoping to get one asap! Dogs have heightened senses than us hoomans, for sure! It broke my heart that that pup disappeared. I often wonder if the ideas for movies like "Predator" and TV shows like "Star Trek" knew things than we the public can ever fathom. Thanx for the information on these cases...no matter how many I've heard, I'm always baffled on how things go awry in these beautiful places. Hope you're all having a great and safe summer. Hugs to Huck!! Be safe. Peace.

The day someone walked up to my picnic table and struck up a conversation I was very friendly, but also firm that I did not want to give up my can opener. It was a good one, and I knew I would need it. He wanted my can opener and I wondered just how badly. I paid close watch walking home.
On another occasion I was in a national forest, walking through trees and brush, following what was probably a deer trail. I had my little dog with me, I felt distinctly that I better pick her up and carry her. I did just that despite it not being the usual way we traveled. After a minute a shadow flew past me, the breeze of it's wings brushing my hair and cheeks. It was an eagle and it was just inches above me. It disappeared into the trees, I barely even saw it. It happened very quickly. I hugged that little dog closer, if I hadn't picked her up when I did, she probably would have ended up as a meal.

Hey David Paulides. Love you buddy. Just a little note to the Village about people you might encounter during your journeys. Sometimes it's easy to recognize evil. But sometimes, evil has manners and uses common courtesy. Put your faculties to use and evaluate your situation intensely before you grant trust to people you just encountered. Depending on your location and specific remoteness, a simple question to ask yourself would be, "Why are they out here?" And consider a smaller concealed weapon in addition to the handgun holstered on your waist.

Thanks for saying this about being careful in the woods. Some people just go through life with rose colored glasses on. Look at all the serial killers -"The Golden State killer," "Bundy"- who went in parks ,for example. The last time I cut the back property , I was followed close by a coyote. And being on a tractor that is close to the ground scared me, and have never cut back there again. This morning I was caring for my mom , next door to me, and an armadillo and I scared each other. I respect nature/woods and fear it. It is theirs. Thankfully it has only been fairly small creatures. I would die if I saw a bear or sasquatch or a threatening human.

I also wanted to comment on Dave's opening talk. My mom was a single mom and she had weapons and bought me my first 22. Later in boy scouts I got proficient. Lots of hiking and practice. Later even got better and competed in a small way with shotguns and pistols. I am better than most humans with guns. If a bear really wants you, your best hope is take him or her with you. Isdahl speaks of this and he is correct. I have had super close confrontations with bears. I have always had a big dog or two. I have spray and a large caliber weapon. Best advice I have heard was from a retired sheriff who learned from another is when the bear is on top of is to dump the whole magazine into it's throat toward the brain. And maybe you will live.

Dropped from above reminds me of the UK 1970's / 80's story. A man from a small town had just left the bar late at night. He was last seen heading home and never to be seen again. Intensive search was immediately done for days and he was not found. Weeks turned into months and still nothing. Then in one area in an alleyway he was found dead on top of a mound of debris. This area was searched several times, since it would've been another way to his home. The body was examined several times and in conclusion, he first died of extreme fright and not from being dropped from a height. The detective looked stunned since there are no high rises, except in his notes had several witnesses that they've reported seeing the same UFO in the area where he disappeared???

Mr. Paulides thank you again for all of your hard work and what you have done for so many years. If I could summarize what you have been trying to get across (not that we’re not listening because we are in the thousands) to everyone is simply Think before you take off and go for hikes in National Parks. And your message even truthfully pertains to areas that we are all use to like walks or jog’s close to home. In the modern times we live in even that deserves being aware in ways that you have been preaching about for so long..

There was a similar case in Canadawhere the entire family had been murdered while camping. One deranged male had been watching them have a fun family time and he was jealous, so he murdered them. Parents and 2 daughters. Of course, he added the exra humiliation of assault on the young females. Be careful. The world is full of these sick males with weak minds who think nothing of causing so much sorrow for no reason at all.
