Experienced gate opener here. Ie truck passenger.
Stay warm and safe brother and take it easy from the 76 degree imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲
Hello Mike!
When doing the tightening of the fence I got some BOB ROSS VIBES from you! Hilarious! Love it!
Great job Mike. That was done pretty quickly. So glad you were able to fix that so fast. Be safe and stay warm. God bless.
Mike, stay safe and warm today.
Good afternoon stay warm
Job well done.
Bet Jeff wishes he could have been there to help.😂
Thanks for showing how the parts work.
Great job! Even tho cold, the sun was shining and no cows around to pester you. That was very educational, I had no idea.
Grandpa had me help him build many of those gates. Thanks for the memories
We called those fence closures "gaps" because they were a gap in the fence. Our gates had hinges. 🙂
Great job Mike. Looks mighty cold out there. We are going down to 1 Degree tonight and we got 8" of snow yesterday!
I like those Jakes wire tensioners too, easy to keep a few in the fencing toolbox for quick repairs when we had cattle!
Weather looks beautiful. Have a great day Mike.
That is the first gate closure I have seen on a wire gate. It is a good idea.
Three or four degrees? C’mon Mike, that’s downright tropical compared to where you were a couple of days ago. Haha
Hi Mike
That looks like a good summertime project….😂😊
Mike I love your channel. You are so relatable. I laughed out loud when you open the green gate lock thing and the new gate just flew off.
Hi Mike Erin & kids, great video & learned something new.Have a great week & try to stay warm.❤️
You just reminded me I don't miss fixing fence! Smooth wire is great for repairs especially hammer splices.
Very nice fence gate. I need one right now on our back field. The gate is used for the power company to get in to maintenence the power poles. They have alock and key and we have a lock also. It's a chain so no matter who needs to open it we can.
Enjoyed the video and I'm going to replace mine when it warms up. 11° here in North Carolina 🥶
❤️🫶❤️ NC 🇺🇸
Learned a few new things here, Mike! 1) those clips are cool! 2) now I know how fence stays go on! Just in case I find myself in the country again :)
I have no need for building a wire gate; living in the city, I don't think I will in the future. But, I enjoy learning about skills I've never heard of before. I've seen the wire gates that Sonne Farms use, but I've never seen the green closure that you have. Great idea.
Good job 👍 I was building barbed wire fence with my buddy and we got on the subject of being a ranch hand . I said I have a long way to go because I’m just a ranch finger
I have fixed many a barb wire fence and never knew about this twister tool. Thanks for the heads up Mike. Nice job with that wire gate.
So have I was helping my dad fix them and with the bull in the next feald not fun having to play keep the bull back
Hey Mike! This video was great! That new gate is awesome! The cows will stay out of the hay yard now..... 🐃🐄🐂 😊 Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy, warm and happy! 🐄🐃🐂
That opener/closer is nice. They didn't have those when I was a kid.
I learned something today! I had no idea about wire stays...Next time I will look at that kind of fence a little closer. Thanks for another fun video!
Glad it's above freezing watched your video where it was -57 windchill burrrrr
Good job Mike. Did you know the most permanent fence on the Farm or Ranch is a temporary fence. That's the first time I've seen those stays used. Helps a lot holding it in place. Thanks for sharing.
God truly blessed you with a beautiful place and view😊
Great job in cold weather .❤️🙏
Good job Mike.... we found that interesting & useful...occasionally we have to do stuff like that...
Good job Mike. I've learned with my young Holsteins, not to take any chances with temporary fix or fencing ( we are to close to a major highway). We install woven wire double drive gates that have to be maintain every year before cows go back out to pasture. Thanks for sharing those tips👍
Hello from st cloud Minnesota we -4 and - 20 windchill
I work for a fence builder here in north central Kansas and I like that metal pipe idea. I have thought about if a few times but never have done it I usually if it’s not used a lot tie to the corner post and have jsut one small post where you disconnect it. But I like the metal idea I always thought of doing that but with hedge cause we have a lot of that here. We build our own gate cheaters and they work pretty good but I also like those gate latches to. I always do 5 wire only time I match the fence wire number is if it’s next to a highway where you cna easily stay I jsut like the five wires I think it keeps the cows from wanting to go between them. I seen that you did the bottom wire first, there’s. A million ways to do this and not that mine is right but I start with the middle (3rd) strand then I do the top, bottom, then I do the 2nd and 4th wire last. And I use a golden rod and get them tight as possible.
Great video as usual. I do have one request. Could you point the camera out the window as you are driving and talking? I would love to see the landscape and cows as you drive around. You can still talk while driving without the camera pointing at you and we will be able to actually see what you are talking about while you drive. ❤
I like your gate there Mike! I've made a lot of those in the past, maybe a little different, but the same concept. I hope everything is going well in these freezing temperatures. Thanks for sharing, I hope you have a great week!
Keep it Pushing Mike! Must be so much Stress working in the Cold Weather, but things has to be Done. My Dad used those Pressure Wires on the Farm, but not the Advanced ones as U have. Keep Pushing!
Those fence tighteners are great also the Texas fence fixer is a awesome tool too.
Great video, love watching you everyday ranch things tasks
Thanks for sharing another video and everyone stay safe❤❤❤ see you on next video😊
Good job! I sure like those clips - much easier than a stick of wood.
Great background music!!👊🎶😁
Good job and I hope that you can save the others until spring.😉😉
In West Virginia we called them ‘Gaps’. My dad said they were essential for moving cattle. However our were always made of barb wire. I can’t tell you how many shirts and pairs of jeans had snags from opening and closing these gaps. Thanks for the memories.
Those tools and gadgets...so simple yet so effective. My dad always liked stuff like that. Helped my grandpa on his farm😁
I TOTALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO MIKE 😊
Thermal underwear rules! Stay warm Mike!
Great video Mike, jump in that truck and warm up
Went to Western ND this weekend but wasn't able to see our grandchildren as mommy had plans 😭 But it was -71 at his ranch Saturday!!🥶🥶And that wind was brutal!
Awesome job, along with lots of good information! Thanks, Mike! 🇺🇸❤️
never seen the wire stays before I wish you would have showed how you put them on.thanks
1 Month ago for you. Temps here in ILLINOIS today is showing 58°. Great video, thank you. Hey, nice music, just to short😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Hi Mike. Excuse me if I ask you a question. Maybe wouldn't it be better to put up wooden or iron stakes in that gate for making it more resistant? Anyway I really like your videos. Greetings from Italy.
I use broken off t post for stays on my gates. Figure usually have some may as well use them since i always pull gates back instead of driving over like some do
Seems to me it would help to put a color markers on the wires. So you could see that the gate was closed. But the cows might not leave them alone then.
Cool video with the music and how you sped the fence repair up! Loved it.
Must say never saw a gate catcher like that we just used a wire loop. Like the smooth wire always delt with barb wire. You’ll have a good week stay warm be safe ❤
good for you Mike to fix another fence section... I don't know why but youtube or something is not notifying me of the videos so I'm glad I caught this one...
That happened to me so I re-followed and it corrected
I am having the same problem!

Hello Mike😊
I was taught use pliers and notch as you go staggering like this your showing though in reference to tightening fence😊
Interesting that you used smooth wire! 👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
I'll have to look the Jake's up for our electric fencing! Thanks!
Nice job sir
Good video and thank you much.
To think, I was unhappy with 33! HAIL no to snow thank you!
That said, neat gate replace.
Mike are them deer tracks in the snow leading into the hay yard. also good gate repair
Awesome job
Great video I have a place to use one of those
It’s very cold in Tennessee and we have a lot of snow
You made it look easy!
Howdy Mike, nicely done🎉.
JO JO IN VT 💞
That was so cool Mike. Thanks for sharing.❤😊
I use those Jake Wire Tighteners and they are a life saver. However, bulls, when they want to get through, can pretzel them up in a heartbeat. ha ha 🤪
Is it wrong that I can’t NOT watch any of your videos in their entirety???!!! (You’ll never scare me off with a subject matter😉)
I am thinking this technique would be good for one of my big garden areas.
Great job Mike 😊
very nice
👍good job Mike👍
Mike that’s not a
Gate,I’m not sure what that is 😂
I will need to watch this sometime later. As i hope to get a few acres above Casper. Hope like heck though i find a handy man to hire. Place needs cleaned up and fence fixed. Hey i raw feed my two large dogs. Do you, or know of any others who sell off cuts, organs for dog food?
Merle is the best!!!
Thanks for the video
Very nice job! I guess you may have said and I missed it but how much is a round bale going for this winter? Glad you aren’t having to buy any! Can you believe we have a temperature of 2 degrees tonight in MS? We had the polar vortex storm dip on in and leave us some nasty ice but I am just thankful it’s a rarity and not yearly like #Ourwyominglife
Nice.
Interesting video. First time I have seen this
This is good common sense ! How many head did you lose this last time ?
Please use eye protection. I lost my eye when I was ten years old. Working with a wire gate.
Can you use a cattle panel with a little welding sounds cheap🤔
Not sure I or anyone else has ever asked this… while you’re out and about, miles from home, fixing fence by yourself, does filming these videos make you feel a little less alone out there? I know you’re just talking to a camera but,
🖐
What gloves do you use to keep your fingers from freezing
👍👍
Good morning.
Still pretty cold here. Don't like it. 😊
Eazy peezy
civilized ranches require "cowed" control
Heavy gloves. Fewer Band-Aids.
❤😊😇💪❤️👍
