unimaginable how she didn't rank higher in this competition. It is said that she was supposed to sing a different song, but the show asked her to cover this at the last second instead. I believe she had practiced the song for a night before performing it. She also had to fight to get her own guitarist to perform. The show relented since they gave her such short notice. What a talent. What a professional.
I never heard anyone sing and delivered this song as good liked KZ here!

Everytime KZ Sings, she becames the song and there is nothing you can do but awe! She's a total performer. The "Soul Supreme" as she is called. She puts her soul in every performance.she will be in London for 1mx festival on 1st of October. Better not miss watching her.

Am so glad you finally reacted to KZ! She always performs with so much emotion - whatever genre she takes on. She may not have the super high notes that other singers have, but when it comes to hear-felt renditions, I consider her to be at the top. She feels every song that she becomes the core of the song every time she performs. She also arranges all her songs. Not sure if you have seen her other performances in The Singer 2018, but every song is a showcase of her versatility. After this particular performance, Hua Chenyu actually commented that he considered KZ's performance of 'Say Something' to be the best ever out of all performances done prior to that particular episode. KZ makes every song she covers her own, and she does it so amazingly because of her unique song arrangements. When she performs, every rendition of the same song will be different from the other when she sings it on a different stage, it's like every song performance will be another cover arrangement. And this happens even with her own original song. I find her musicality so amazing. She is actually the topmost Filipino artist whom EZ plans to collaborate with, because she can also rap.

Beautiful rendition of the song.
She hits you like a ton of bricks with this vocal and that ethereal guitar just adds to it. The Christina A. song that destroys me is 'Hurt'. I am matching you tear for tear Fil. That guitar player was amazing, their connection was palpable. What makes any song more is the experience that you may have had in a situation like this. Mine was when I was 18 and I had fallen hard for a girl with an unstable family. I said goodnight to her one Saturday/Sunday morning and never saw her again. I've been married three times looking for that connection. I did manage to track her down thanks to the internet. 40 years is a lot of life between adolescence and old age. I could tell in the contact that too many things had past and her memories weren't as important. So I just said it was nice hearing from her and left it there.
So when I hear songs like this it reminds me of what might have been, can never be. Thanks Fil for this.
KZ is just something else. She can make you vulnerable, strong, cry baby and free like flying with one song. With that voice that could do POP , JAZZ, RAP, BALLAD , R&B. You should watch her Myx live No diggity, Shout and tThrift shop performance with again just guitar.

HuaHua said that this was the best. Jessie J asked him, "you mean this episode?". He said, "No, whole contest." It still sickens me that the audience wasn't as drawn in. Also, big standing ovation for Makoy Portado on guitar. And another one for you for your ability to keep your heart open for every performance. It makes such a huge difference.
I watched this whole episode so just to clarify a bit, it wasn't jessie j who asked hua hua but her musical partner, because if you watch that scene they are talking in pure chinese. So i think jessie didn't know that hua hua said that.

“The hurts you never knew” is the song that kz made me cry so much which she performs in this same competition and i didnt even know what she’s saying coz it is in madarin languange😅but the emotion ,delivery and story tellin was so good❤️👏🏻

It never gets old. Her guitarist Makoy Portado was flown in for a few of her songs during this competition. They have worked together so a while now and they just jam so well. So so so so goooood. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 best rendition of this song for sure
Makoy was flown in just for this performance and for this episode alone. Not "a few of her songs during this competition". This episode (5 i think) was filmed back to back with episode 4 in anticipation of the weeklong Chinese Lunar New Year. Because of the sheer amount of work/toll on the orchestra (they have to rehearse and perform with ALL contestants) the producers decided to scrap the original song line up and left the song choice decision up to the contestants. KZ decided to go with this song and had Makoy flown in from the Philippines.

The male singer who was captivated with KZ's performance also did perform this song live in his concert but not as great and moving like what KZ did in this song.

Fun fact Prof, Hua Chenyu actually really loved this KZ rendition of the song himself and told somewhere on the show - it was his favorite during that episode. The funny thing is, Hua Chenyu also covered this song. Now, I regard Hua Chenyu as an artist in every sense of the word. LOVE HIM. (Also watched your reactions to him then) But as for the cover of this song only, KZ won it for me. Hands down!

Hua Hua appeared on The Coming One 3 as a Mentor. In Episode 8 one of the girls paired up with one of the guys from R1SE. Hua Hua was trying to get THIS out of them... and wasn't really getting it from them in rehearsals. Then on the actual show, they delivered, and all the Mentors (including Hua Hua) were in tears.
