My most favorite version of this song. These guys changed Christmas music forever when the released their first album back in 1984. I really like that this is sung in Latin.
AMEN TO THAT!! My MOST FAVORITE of all Christmas music. FRESH AIRE! This version is SOOOO perfect that as a classical guitarist and singer I ABSOLUTELY HAD to do this Chip Davis rendition or not at all!!❤❤ I'm SO with you on this!! It just doesn't get any better, EVER!!❤❤😊
My father told me that it reminded him of his days in Roman Catholic Seminary (he was studying for the priesthood when he met my mother, the sister of a fellow seminarian). This version brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it......it does even more so now that both of my parents have passed away.
This arrangement always brings baxk the sense of awe, joy, and peace that I felt so keenly in the Mass when I was a kid. I have more deeply delved into my faith over the years, and feel God's presence more than ever.
This is an example of why MS got so hugely popular, a piece of music that absolutelty transcends. It's nostalgia for the past and longing for the future at the same time.

This version brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it......it does even more so now that both of my parents have passed away.

Hearing this incredible version of O Come Emmanuel , reminds me of a night in Boston when I stopped in an old Catholic Church where Monks still chanted in Latin , it was a mystical experience
Chip Davis's Veni Veni Emmanuel, along with his Stille Nacht are my two absolute favorite Christmas songs! These are among the few songs or works of music which produce in me a frisson even into the depths of my soul. Thank you, Chip, for blessing us with these as well as the rest of your renditions of Christmas music, which have no parallel.
I feel the same way pretty much about these same 2 songs. I will listen to the Stille Nacht year round at times when I need to reach a certain place of inner calm and stillness.
This song has been touched by God. Still Nacht is another one. Thank you God for Your Son and thank you for this beautiful music Chip......Merry Christmas Everyone!
My parents had Manheim Steamroller CDs...I grew up listening to them during the Christmas season. This album was a favorite. Latin is such a beautiful language! Hayley from Celtic Woman did a breathtaking cover of this song.
*Best Version of this Song* They captured the spirit and the history of this song so well! The instrumental part with the vocalise is sublime! ⭐ You can feel the ancient origins of this song through this recording!
Although it's just July, i just stumbled on this awesome Christmas carol. This is traditionally sung at rhe beginning of Advent in the Roman Catholic church in prepearation for the nativity of the Lord. Tuyly awe inspiring and in Latin, the original language this song was chanted in, amazing. E
The gorgeous arrangement is utterly magnificent!! I imagine a monastery during the medieval periods. Thank You to the brilliant Talents at Mannheim Steamroller and Chip Davis.
This is personally my favorite version. Mannheim steamroller is such a wonderful ensemble. I especially love their orchestrated stuff they do on the album. Very reminiscent of medieval times. May the good Lord bless All who are in the comment section . And may he also bless your family The merriest of Christmases to all.
This song makes me think of the people I've known and loved that have gone before me. It makes me think of the Father in Heaven, my savior Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that resides within my soul. It makes me happy and it brings tears of joy whenever I hear it. My thanks to whoever reads this message. Carlton Hammock
Music for the souls I never heard a music like this one before.... This reaches me in so many ways My being, my completon so far..it brings me a feeling of peace, SERENITY tears of joy....
This song reminds me of some of the happiest moments in my life. I got into this Christmas play when I was in high school and the guy who chose the music for the play chose Mannheim Steamroller first two albums for the score. This one got straight into my head since the first time specially when the strings arise. I was playing a monk at the play and we had this sublime and powerful moment of revelation with this song playing in the back. Then the play came to an end with everyone cheering up and wishing everyone else a merry Christmas and the course ended that day as well so we went on vacation to celebrate the holidays. It will always be a part of me and it will always touch my heart.
Veni veni Emmanuel Oh come, oh come, Immanuel captivum solve Israel to free captive Israel qui gemit in exsilio who cries in exile, privatus Dei Filio deprived of the Son of God. Veni veni O Oriens Come, come, East (star) solare nos adveniens console us with your arrival, noctis depelle nebulas drive away the dark clouds of night dirasque mortis tenebras the gloomy darkness of death. Veni veni Adonai Come, come, Lord qui populo in Sinai who, to the people on Sinai, legem dedisti vertice He gave the law in maiestate gloriae in glorious majesty. Gaude! Gaude! Emmanuel Rejoice, rejoice: Immanuel nascetur pro te Israel is born for you, Israel.
I’ve listened to this song every single year since 1997 (when I first heard it in the 6th grade). I remember listening to it for the first time next to a Christmas tree at night after everyone was asleep. Never thought it’d be a tradition I’d hold.
The most beautiful rendition ever. I listen every year and cry every time. I perform this on my soprano every Christmas. It’s beautiful on the recorder.
This is the only way I can sing this carol. Drives my family and those around me nuts during the holidays, because I dont know the words in English. I cant help it that I learned to sing this carol by listening to Mannheim Steamroller :-)
Chip Davis is incredible. These renditions are All so beautiful, each in it's own way. If "Veni Veni" doesn't just throw you into the bushes nothing will. Listening to "The Little Drummer Boy" I imagine an orchestra of Santa's helpers with toy soldiers playing. "O Holy Night" Greatest rendition ever? Then you're challenging Michael Crawford. It's SO close. How absolutely beautiful, before, now and always is "Still Still Still". And don't forget Chip's own "Traditions of Christmas" So pretty.
It is this time of the year again when I fill up myself with this beautiful and so magic sounds of inner self, serenity, calm and tranquility. If this is heaven...... well It is possible to be in heaven even on earth.
I played this in band my eighth grade year and the beginning was a bassoon solo, and at 0:45 was when the whole band came in. One of my top 10 pieces ever for sure.
The opening chorus always makes me think of the scene from monty python and the holy grail with the priests who are walking down the street chanting and whacking themselves with planks
I really love this song this might be my favorite on the album and of their xmas songs or one of them when i was little it was always hark hark and carol of the bells on this album but this is beautiful
Sometimes, when I hear this song, this version at least, I imagine a scene from Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol, where Ebenezer Scrooge is leaving his counting house late at night and walking towards his house.
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of a Christmas Eve many years ago. I was listening to this when I got the call. It evokes a sadness when I hear it today. I wrote this afterwards... “Silent Night, Unholy Night” Late one evening, while cold and crisp Listening to carols played with a fife Anticipating the arrival of ‘Ol St. Nick While my partner was in a fight for his life A routine stop on a quiet street Where rooftops were lit with lights It was unexpected and very surreal As the mood quickly turned to fright It was if “I” were calling for this help For these numbers have always been mine The shots rang out and the radio squawked “I need back-up, 259!!!” A broadcast followed as officers responded To a voice that was labored, but clear Although shot 4 times, he got it out A description for all to hear A sea of blue converged on the scene Changing Chaos to complete control Each officer taking on multiple tasks Each officer knowing his role Our Brothers-in-Red quickly made the call And like Angels, they swooped him away They too faced chaos and triaged the scene They were ready for days like today. To hear the broadcast of this night; it is if they were calling my name. Each year, I experience a guilt. A guilt from me not being there. A guilt from being “thankful” I wasn’t there. In the end, the suspect got what he deserved; a bullet with his name on it. Not to sound insensitive, but my friend is reminded daily of this night. He has had a long road of recovery and has handled it very well. This scenario plays in my mind repeatedly. And, for all the officers on the scene that Christmas Eve, I’m sure they can recount each step of that night. As frightening/scary/gruesome as this night was, I didn’t want to be detailed with my descriptions. This short write is NOT about the story, as much as it is about what our “First Responders” go through day in/day out. While everyone is nestled in bed anticipating the arrival of Santa, our responders are keeping evil at bay. They are providing medical help for those in need 24/7. Please keep our police/fire across this nation in your prayers. God Bless...
Alan Chaudoin .... God Bless you and thank you for your service. I am glad the officer survived. Crime doesn’t take a break. My grandfather was a policeman. I am proud to say. 🙏
Alan Chaudoin, thank you for your service. But feel not guilty about what happened. God is sovereign over all the earth, and that was no accident, or "happenstance." Praise God he survived, but it was no fault of yours, brother.
Beautiful ! Hope Jesus returns soon! The "delusion" promised in promised in 2 Thessalonian 2 :11 [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: is happening now!
This I think is the most beautiful music ever composed. If you love it too, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the versions my the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.and especially the instrumental by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra (Glorious Sounds of Christmas).
Lovely setting that fits the words. I read the little blurb in the CD booklet how Chip Davis thought he was going to do an innovative setting by doing it this way, only to find it wasn't quite that way.
My father nearly cried, and I cried with him, every Christmas Season as the CD player came around to this song.....him remembering his time in a monastery when he was studying to be a Catholic priest before he met my mother....me because it is beautiful ....
This is my favorite version of Veni Veni Emanuel. I am so humbled. Praise to the Lord...Father, Son and Holy Ghost forever.
AMEN!
Amen.
My most favorite version of this song. These guys changed Christmas music forever when the released their first album back in 1984. I really like that this is sung in Latin.
You should check out MS's "The Christmas Angel", with narration by Chip and the late, great Dame Olivia Newton-John.
Same!
The way it was originally written as a chant for monks. My favorite also
💖🙏✌🎄
My most favoritest as well!
My absolute favorite version of this song. Makes me feel so close to our Creator.
I agree with you.
It's mine also, and I don't believe in any of the gods.
Most beautiful rendition of this wonderful carol I've ever heard. Always brings tears to my eyes.
Enya's version was beautiful as well, but this is my favorite.
My father told me that it reminded him of his days in Roman Catholic Seminary (he was studying for the priesthood when he met my mother, the sister of a fellow seminarian).
This version brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it......it does even more so now that both of my parents have passed away.
It is like being there. In the candlelight. In the sanctuary within the castle.
I think I’d listen to this even outside of the Christmas season
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ forever .Amen.

@@cailynnandhayleigh1924 Wow. I hope you're getting over the terror. :-(
Alles Gute für dich.
Wow... Glad it helped you calm down, sorry to hear you go through that terror. Merry Christmas!!
This song also calms me down no matter what crisis I get into
Not a religious person but even I am moved by this haunting rendition.
Faith. Period
My father told me that it reminded him of his days in Roman Catholic Seminary (he was studying for the priesthood when he met my mother, the sister of a fellow seminarian).
This version brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it......it does even more so now that both of my parents have passed away.
SO what you are saying is that your father went from the state of celibacy to celebrating!
This is a beautiful song, I never get tired of this song.
Best version ever. Merry Christmas Everyone!
This is so beautiful, hearing O Come O Come Emmanuel sung in Latin.
Absolutely stunning!! I cried the first time i heard this masterpiece, and still brings tears...
Same here
Me too !

Bobby, same.

One can almost see the French monks in the Notre Dame cathedral at worship. Brilliant version.
And it's now just being re-opened as the French government is in collapse. Precarious times we are in.
Praise Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I love listening to this beautiful composition every night during December.
I always picture myself in an ancient medieval church, back when it was newly built, listening to monks singing this song 🎶
I feel like I’m in God’s Kingdom of Heaven when I hear this song or any music similar to this
It sounds as if it had been made in heaven. 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
My favourite Mannheim Steamroller music, never fails to give me the goose bumps , absolutely beautiful.

It´s not by "him".
This is the song we sing on the first Sunday f Advent to remnd us of the coming of the Lord.
I think this IS the BEST version ever! LOVE IT! Brings back so many memories.

Another very touching piece is by The Supremes 'Born of Mary" .
Veni isn't a Christmas song, though - it's Advent.

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of a Christmas Eve many years ago. I was listening to this when I got the call. It evokes a sadness when I hear it today. I wrote this afterwards...
“Silent Night, Unholy Night”
Late one evening, while cold and crisp
Listening to carols played with a fife
Anticipating the arrival of ‘Ol St. Nick
While my partner was in a fight for his life
A routine stop on a quiet street
Where rooftops were lit with lights
It was unexpected and very surreal
As the mood quickly turned to fright
It was if “I” were calling for this help
For these numbers have always been mine
The shots rang out and the radio squawked
“I need back-up, 259!!!”
A broadcast followed as officers responded
To a voice that was labored, but clear
Although shot 4 times, he got it out
A description for all to hear
A sea of blue converged on the scene
Changing Chaos to complete control
Each officer taking on multiple tasks
Each officer knowing his role
Our Brothers-in-Red quickly made the call
And like Angels, they swooped him away
They too faced chaos and triaged the scene
They were ready for days like today.
By the Grace of God, he pulled through
And this day, I will never forget
Prayers were answered for both of these men
As the T.A.C.T Unit neutralized the threat
*This was a very hard Christmas (and every Christmas since). I had ridden as car “259” for a while. I fractured my femur during a foot chase (of an Auto thief) just a few weeks before this night. My friend was pulled from his ward and put in my car (259). To hear the broadcast of this night; it is if they were calling my name. Each year, I experience a guilt. A guilt from me not being there. A guilt from being “thankful” I wasn’t there.
