I agree. I actually train in the Yamaneko Dojo in Arizona... Shihan Jeffrey Prather's Dojo.... we're blessed with excellent instructors. I can vouch for the practicality of these techniques, because I've been on the recieivng end of them. The thing is... you can't fake it. You can't set it up. If a technique is to work right... you have to commit to trying to hurt your instructor. Best advice I can give for skeptics is to JOIN and TRAIN for a few weeks or months.

This is what real Ninjutsu is all about: effortlessly bringing down an opponent through extreme precision. There's a reason you always see ninjas teleporting, breathing fire, cloning themselves and becoming invisible. They were so skillful, the samurai believed that's what they had done.

For all the idiots out there who just complain - ninjutsu, aikido and the like are based on a 1000 year old tradition that wasn't just based on "kicking the shit out of everyone to get the chicks" like muay thai and kickboxing. These martial arts teach you and help you to mend your mind and body, to become a better human being and show you the way of the japanese warrior while following, respecting and honouring the code of bushido!

The top thing I have to say about Hatsumi sensei is that he is the most kick-ass, 81 year old, Japanese man with purple hair I have ever seen :)

When you fight an old man who has been doing martial arts his whole year, they can beat you while looking like they are joking around and that you are playing along with them and turning for them. My master in taekwondo did that, he knew the body joints and pressure points so well that he smiled happily while casually flipping us like mofos.

One my scariest moments ever (no understatement) was at a Jack Hoban seminar (an incredible practioner and person). He simple grabbed my wrist with ease and dropped me to the ground, I have dabbled in a few diffrent MA's but none as scary as Bujinkan.

this art requires sacrifice, patience and a willing mind to accept, change and evolve as you keep up with training. and good humor is needed. never try untdertanding it from videos (impossible) mind and body need to experiment and feel... then you'll understand.
    so.... PLAY!

people will always have negative things to say about Hatsumi but I say its a 100 times safer to sit at a computer screen and type then to travel to his dojo and train. the truth is in the feeling and for most the realism is in the "fight". Most critics always say it wont work in a fight"

yes I'm dutch myself and i've learned from our dojo's jidoshi that most "instructors" go to japan to graduate in exchange for money....idiots. my teacher is like a demon whenever he attacks, uncompromising and lethal.....makes me shiver just thinking about getting him on my bad side. and always remember that the best instructor is the one that still trains to push his or her boundaries to the limit.

to everyone that doubts abaut ninjutsu, its a martial art, japanesse, (combination of jiujutsu)
samurais and ninja did this, no karate, is a budo martial art so theres no champsionship, or public figths only demostrations, because all techniques, have dislocatios and controls being really painfull if you do it at fast speed, and another part is with weapons, and they are reall

Yep klosk86, some people are dumb enough to think that Hatsumi made it all up. Its funny because Togakure is one of the main ones, and its techniques are so involved and complex, theres absolutely no way just ONE person made it ALL up. It would be pretty much impossible. Oh, good video. Thanks for sharing. Much respect!

trained in muay thai little karate little boxing and lots of bjj of allthe styles when i trained in ninjutsu bujinkan that is i made it my basis this is the most advance martial science you will find and most effective against any kind of opponent no speed or strength needed only timing and distance no techniques just ways to get a result it takes alot of dedication few can handle the training if you have trained in other styles it actually is harder to learn as it is so different.

Ive taken bujinkan/ninjitsu and we had some new students which were former MMA practitioners and i will tell you that in the demonstration's we did on them, brought them to the ground every-time! MMA is a sport for action and fun, ninjitsu is for survival. that is why you don't see alot of ninjitsu competition.

Yes, unfortunately I'm stuck with TKD for another year and I absolutely hate it. Not sure if it's the instructor, but I've learned nothing, absolutely nothing that I would considering using in a fight. I hate doing it and I learn nothing. I'll be happy when I get to drop it. Something like Bujinkan is exactly what I would like to do, providing the teacher is good.

    - what missions? balck ops guys does missions, hatsumi don't. he is not a policeman.
    - what to disguise from? the camera? in fact, disguise is there: in ninpo you never know what hit you.
    - escapeing is the most effective way to survive. (The most effective way of attack. is nuke)
    - ninja-s dont exist anymore. but bujinkan is 7 different martial arts.
    - in fact many people challenged him and his master. he's master killed them. he just beated them.

what im implying is that when the time comes to take life will we have the right mind frame to do so it seems that to days society is more on who,s better then the next guy the deep rooted facts of soke hatsumi is that the history and believe is some thing this world is lacking thats why people have a hard time dealing with alot of issues of the arts i believe that it bujinkan has been here for centuries adapting and molding the way for the future the a living art not some thing .

at which point there are 3 options. go to his or any Bujinkan Dojo and train in the style,2 go to his or any Bujinkan school and Attack not challange a bujinkan instructor (be sure to have health insurance and or a will) or 3 keep quite and watch another MMA "fight".

  • @BrokenTengu99

    @Creationsofmyown ,
I've seen "Shinobi Soldiers" before, and agree with most of what he has to say. AS each X-kan dojo differs from place to place, primarily what you learn is Budo Taijutsu, which is (yes) a very old form of jujutsu and Kobudo. But when you start going into the relm of espionage, gathering of inteligence, infiltration ,etc. , that's what's refered to as "ninjutsu" ( historical context). Very educated on the subjects and under no illusion here, friend.

Ninjutsu is not a fighting style. It means: The art of beeing invisible, ot something like that.
Originally, they were spies for the emperor, but they also functioned as bodyguards. I think that the farmers were taught to be ninja or Shinobi.

  • @ninpo4life
    @ninpo4life 12 років тому

Well the techniques aren't bullcrap. But certainly a lot of teachers in the US are. I can understand where people say the art is ineffective. If I weren't blessed to have trained with some good people, I'd say the same. It's not the art that's ineffective, it's the majority of the teachers out there. Soke is great. The Japanese Shihan are great. A small handful of others are great. That's about it.

Come on man, it's still good to at least try our best based on what we have to try to keep this going. From what little I've read about Ninja (I'm just getting into research and starting to like Ninja) the Ninja had a very unique and interesting way of viewing life. They were very cool, it's not exactally how the real guys did it, but it's even worse to just say screw them they deserve to be forgotten forever...

My Uncle trains TKD, and he really enjoys it. I don't think he plans on getting jumped anytime soon as he's in his 60's, but he always claimed those kicks are devastating. I personally don't agree though. How many TKD guys are UFC champions? How many high jumping kicks do you see a Marine do? I just don't see it being practical. Good luck finding a good Bujinkan teacher! Not easy to do. Message me and I might be able to refer you to the kind of people you want to learn from.

You can, you just gotta practice a lot. I'm not Ninja, in fact I'm a MMA fight, I mostly do Brazilian Jujitsu. But I do know that this Hatsumi guy is not a God, he is awesome and very proficient in his art. He seems to be the definition of what a "master" is. But he started out just like everyone else. A white belt or whatever you guys have, he started at level zero and worked his way up. You can too dude! When he's dead, someone has to keep this art alive, why not you?

"It's like trying to cut an ethereal wall"
exactly, the imaginary ethereal wall you think is hatsumi's forcefield... that is the ONLY THING the Uke was aiming at....

Who is "he"? Lots of people responded to my comment.
His uke isn't attacking with much intent, that's true. That's not soke's fault. It's the uke's. Just because the uke doesn't put up much of a fight doesn't mean soke couldn't handle him if he did.
If I were soke's uke, I'd be reluctant to even attack. From what I've heard, his techniques are a tad painful. Really freaking painful. I would suppose that would give a reason to the uke's lack of intent.

The only thing that I've "learned" from Ep. 3 are two or three guys going back and forth over the same subject; that they agree to disagree. And yes, you do make the clain that ," if you think there is any connection between any takamatsu-den art and ninjutsu, you are indeed indulging in make-believe... " . You seem very defensive for someone so set in his opinion. So with that said, I'll take the way that TSOAS2008 has, and respectfully "agree to disagree".

***** Are you training with him or on a long distance course? because it needs to be hands on it is about the feeling not what you see seeing is nothing . try and get to train with someone not from a video. ua-cam.com/video/6V_R8aiHmkI/v-deo.html

"If it works, then it ain't LARPin' !!!!"
says you... the rest of us in the real world, know that effectiveness does not equal legitimacy.
if you want to believe that what you are studying has ANY relation to anything done by shinobi, you are in deed roleplaying, so yes, you are still larping if you think the bujinkan has ANY legitimacy in its claims...
ninjutsu isnt even a martial art...
shinobi soldiers would be a great place to start when you "EDUCATE yourself."

"Hatsumi can "only win" with the uke doing hicho kaiten?"
first, hicho kaiten never takes place in the Bujinkan Con video... nor the Mind body and kick ass moves one....
    "You can't prove that."
so hatsumi really can dodge someone swinging at him? why did the BJKguy not even try to connect with him then?
"Have fun discussing endless circular arguments with countless UA-cam users. "
there is nothing circular about my argument.
"I'm not one of them. "
did u even WATCH the Bujinkan Con video???

@nicholas46461 Yeah if you just watch UA-cam videos, that's the impression that anyone with a logical brain would get. When seen, some of the techniques look like bullcrap. But if you have a GOOD instructor (not always easy to find in America) do these techniques on you, you feel absolutely helpless. The pain and the control they can put on you is overwhelming. I'm a Bujinkan member and I sparred with a TKD guy recently - completely owned him with basic Kihon Happo from Bujinkan.

i want to see some real videos but all the ones i find on youtube just seem like demonstrations rather than an actual fight.

@jgum86 ok I knew you had to be American with a comment like that what makes you think UFC has anything to do with real fighting? it is a sport! easily proven if we got in a cage and I pulled your Eye out of its socket!, oh yes I did 28 years of Bujinkan so kiss it!
