😣As a former Dallas Texan I wish gas prices were that low here in Southern California.

$3.90 a gallon is a bargain! Here in California, we are paying $6.50 a gallon per gas.

the accumulated inflation between 1970 and now is 700%. So it's like paying 31usd per gallon now

@@timeforvlog I would not be surprised if 30 dollars per gallon becomes a reality in a bad economy! This inflation has the real potential to get out of control real fast if left unchecked

It was a repeat of 2008 for me. But the 1970s had to be a crazy time. Americans still reeling from Vietnam were suddenly paying more for gasoline, factories closing, and professional sports maybe not happening. It happened again in 1979, but that time people made smarter choices by buying smaller cars and foreign cars became more popular. 2022 turned out to be a year most of us want to forget.

We had carless days in New Zealand in the late 70's. Every car's registration had 1 specific day a week nominated when you couldn't drive that car. The speed limit also dropped from 100 km/h to 80 km/h. Crazy times.

I bought my first brand new car in 74. I traveled between Mississippi and Indiana and did not have any problem getting gas. The prices of gas really jumped in 74 and the government dropped the National Speed Limit to 55MPH.

So WHY did the crisis happen??? It was 50 years ago! No cause aside from a little line that it was OPEC? Why? Honestly what’s the rest of the story? What happened to cause oil shortages? Didn’t we learn so that this wouldn’t happen again?
Why is it that in 2019 we actually were exporting excess oil for the first time in over 20 years?

The King of Saudi Arabia” King Faisal” in 1973, stopped gas pump to any country who supported Isreal. In 6 weeks he made Americans go back to horse riding on streets. They kept begging him and he kept refusing until he was assasinated in 1975.
