George Washington was a man of tremendous character and virtue, and anyone who examines his life closely sees that and is impressed. Thank you so much, GWU, for an excellent series here!
best american ever. he crosses frozen rivers. at nite. on christmas. against the best trained army in the world. and wins. God Bless George Washington.....Father of the USA
I have a problem with the "separation of church and state" when there are too many quotes from Washington about His faith in God and personal accounts from others of his praying. He was a man of faith and, before leaving Valley Forge, encouraged his troops to look inside themselves and repent of wrongdoing so that they can stand before God.
Just seeing this, but felt compelled to respond. Separation of church and state means that the government cannot establish a 'state' religion - as England had done with the King. It allows for freedom of worship of any faith you espouse. The term is often misconstrued.

This was presented well and I enjoyed. Organized a lot of information I had learned before from other sources.
Excellent and fascinating discussion. Thank you for posting this.
