Just so everyone knows, Scotland has a “right to roam” policy which means places like this are free to roam and ride without issues. Building trails is a different matter though but this area has had more “destructive” (more dirt moved) trails here for decades and is a popular riding destination. That said I still wanted to leave as little damage as possible and this is built in a place where no one would normally ride or walk so isn’t very visible. Ideally I’d recommend getting permission from the land owner but with the history of this place I think it’s ok to just move a bit of moss and the occasional fern/grass
No, it's not okay and you destroy some of the forests ecosystem when riding off-road and off marked trails for montainbike use. We have some serious issues with such behaviour in Germany.
@@christophermiel I knew this type of video wouldn’t vibe with everyone, all I’ll add is that I’m a very small fish in the world of destructive trail building and I went out of my way to cause as minimal damage as possible in hopes that any copycats might also avoid doing much damage too.
@@Ali_Clarkson I see your concerns of your own actions and I appreciate your self reflection. But think about your impact as a youtuber, some people in the comments already try to identify the place or feel empowered to build trails on their own. Create a collective, talk to your local community office and get a permission or even funding.
@@christophermiel Hi. If Ali is where i think he is then this land is far from pristine wilderness. The land has been all cut up with foresting and quarrying. Not to mention the roads cut thru to put up hundreds of wind turbines. Look at the trees, prob ten years old at max. Its industrialish land going back to nature.
Awesome job Ali and basically all u have done is moved some moss that placed about will carry on growing and cleared some debris to define a line no harm done
Hey Ali Clarkson! You are recreating the thing that started freeride on the north shore mountains of Vancouver British Columbia Canada! In the 80s and nineties the trail builders kept trying to build wooden trail features and lines that nobody would ever ride! Everything was by conquered by young guys like Wade Simmons! This led to alot of broken bikes which were all warrantied in those days so manufacturers responded with burlier bikes! Burlier bikes made riding crazier trails possible which made the builders build crazier trails! It all snowballed untill the rescue organizations had to evac a few injured riders and informed the local governments! Most of the really insane stuff sadly was chainsawed for legal reasons! Now those governments promote mountain biking! Ride ride ride!
Great video either the heat wave has got to Ali or he has had a chat to Dan Atherton on how to build gnarly trails whatever it’s going to look like it’s going to be gnarly as hell ☠️☠️☠️ for the trail signs and the name would be Ali’s flying Circus
@@ericm8811 Yeah I didn’t know that such a shame dangerous Dan was an absolute legend and a madman for building that trail if you can call it a trail. even the circus would say no to that trail but I remember watching it on drop in TV Even super T was shaking which was shocking because super T didn’t turn anything down
You should totally try to join Santa Cruz and get riding with Danny again!!! I know it’s probably harder then it sounds but your a crazy talented rider and they would be lucky to have you!!
I love how you're just building a trials section and calling it a bike trail. After you've ridden it I'd love to see how guys like Jack Carthy or Tom Oehler would get on with it!
Hey Ali! Huge fan of the channel and am a XC mtb racer at 13 years old. Been doing about 3 years and love it but I have a big interest in trials riding! Thanks to you I have been looking at tarty bikes and found one I really like (czar 24inch) been saving up and hope to be able to order it soon. Thanks for the inspiration and great entertainment you provide!!
Yo Ali! Great video / project! New subscriber, and your channel is quickly becoming my favorite. You're making awesome content / adventures-- really like this format of making trails using your trials eye. Looking forward to more and wishing you well in the quest for a new bike sponsor, I'm sure its coming soon, so much talent and creativity. Cheers from California
love it. great to see you doing some trail building! I've been spending quite a bit of time (possibly too much...) out working on a local trail recently and its great for find a bit of peace in life, digging should be prescribed by the NHS it's definitely good for body and mind. hope your enjoying it as much as I have been. can't wait to see the rest of the build and if no one sponsors you I'll have to start my own bike brand and sponsor you!
Really cool project, and a beautiful location, I can't wait to see the attempts at riding the finished track! I would love to see the 50 to 01 crew give it a go, they seem to ride a lot of similar terrain
So stoked to see where this goes! I really appreciate your approach to trail building. I dig a bit and im always looking for janky natural looking lines in areas that are already impacted. Aside from being a bit easier for nature to reclaim than machine built trails, they often just end up being so fun to ride! Anyway, good luck and im looking forward to the next video.
Cool video Ali, great to see your approach to trail building. When you make the vid of riding the trail you should defo hit up Cathro to give commentary and break down some of the lines/sections :D
Should make this into a series. Get top trials riders to come. See who can get through first try and set "lap times" would definitely watch. Ps really enjoyed this format
Ok, Ali, you have my word: I will never, in a million years, try this trail. It's WAY beyond my abilities (and nerve). Can't wait to see you send it though!
Can't help thinking that you are designing something to be dissected carefully with a scalpel, but then someone more in the realm of FR or DH might come along and dispense with that problem like a sledge hammer. Really cool line choice though.
Great video Ali! I look forward to seeing the final ride edit. WRT the bike brand I think you are going to have to be less honest about products and drink the corporate coolaid if you are to find success, either that or get lucky and find a firm that doesn't just churn out well marketed dross.
Man I went and did a trail, build but I lost speed in doing it because the trail had way to many trees so I made one trail never went back to it. I just got tired of cutting trees and no one to help but my wife however I found more already built trails to ride.
I hope this isn't a nature reserve, you'd not be allowed to leave the foot paths and destroy trees and plants there (that should be a rule for all natural places anyway imo). In my nearby forest mountain bikers have cut tons of really obvious disruptive trails all across the forest, it's not pretty. Forest workers have tried to block them with trunks and branches but the bikers don't care.
Looking at all the silver birch I doubt it's protected, most of the protection goes for old growth or specific scientific interest from what I have seen.
This is in Scotland which has a right to roam policy. Not like he was really damaging the forest anyways. Mountain bike trails do almost no damage in comparison to logging or development.

Ali’s flying Circus that should be the name

Ali’s videos are like a breath of fresh air compared to the trash I normally watch. Also his balance is really impressive.
Totally true
Ali is a perfectionist, and tries to be every video ive seen of him... no correction hops, clean like 'Clean' from Predator 2 movie 👏👌✨
You can say that again! Both points...

What camera do you use to catch videos?

Nice video I enjoyed it.
Good luck with riding your new trail pal ..
Looks ridiculously fun yet tech. Wish I was good enough to ride stuff like that🤣
Are you going to complete the unique gravel bike?
I’d call it more of a downhill trials course rather than a trail. You are a nut! Looking forward to seeing a video of you riding it.
Scottish rocks are some of the best looking rocks about.
Cool beard Santa Clarkson!
Nice work going to be fun trying to get down with out putting your feet down :)
Loving this👍
Love this type of Videos 😍👍
Loving the idea your building trails I have quite a few features at Queens Park trails in Castleford you would like to play on
That's in cambusbarron

I can't wait to see you ride this 🤔 trail????
It looks like it would be a real workout.
This is not the hardest MTB trail. This is the flowiest Trailsparcours I've ever seen. 😄
Once you get down without stopping, then try going up.
Great idea!
Team America quote tucked in there!
Yeah, the egg says yes this week!
Hey, Algorithm, have you read Bill Bryson’s “A Walk in the Woods”? Well, it was nothing like this!
Alright, so now you go and invite @Dangerous Dave to session this with you ! 😁
You should get Jack Carthy and Sam Pilgrim to ride this trail

You should get a few trials riders together to session it and the winner is whoever clears the course on the most inappropriate bike 😉
Giving Gothenburg Hardline a run for its money eh
My friend was helping you 😂
Ali 👍 betul bahwa indah nya dunia bersepeda 👍 sahabat yang paling penting seruhu di dunia ini 👍
Just call this "trail" Section 1
