I worked in Changi Airport Terminal 1 in 1985 as a check-in agent. Things were simpler in those days and I still remember that we were the world's fastest check-in. And the terminal 1 staff canteen had some of the best food e.g. Allan economy rice, beef soup, duck rice, chicken rice, etc. I missed those days.
Absolutely wonderful, and a job very well done. Love the use of advance technologies to plan and integrate systems. Looking forward to more innovations to come!
Not sure about "high" tech. When I placed my luggage into the self checked luggage machine, it did not detect my luggage. The handler said it has to be placed at the corner with the sensors (found only at corner of the machine!?). Why should it be only at the corner!? How would we know!? Sensors should be installed at all 4 corners! This is a ridiculous limitation and not user friendly!
I travel frequently through Changi and have never faced such an issue. It might have been a tech glitch when you were using it. Based on my experience, I hope it won't happen all the time.
