@@armanmokhtarani1769 No he didn’t though. Haslem went undrafted in the same draft Joe Johnson went in the first round for the season that was Michael Jordan’s last year. Haslem instead played in France while Joe Johnson was a rookie playing against Jordan. Then Mike retired and THAT next season was Haslems rookie year in the NBA.

I still can't believe we traded Joe Johnson for Rodney Rodgers and Tony Delk. If the Celtics had exhibited patience starting in 1997, they would have had a roster of Pierce, Walker, Chauncey Billups, Bruce Bowen, and Joe Johnson. We probably would have 18, 19, or 20 banners hanging from the rafters instead of 17. The Celtics had the players to be a good team, but we had the wrong coach and ownership at the time.

Of all the deals that kill me as a Celtic fan this one was the worst. They completely failed to recognize that they weren't really contenders. They sacrificed a valuable piece to get Rodney Rogers as a veteran for the Playoffs... then they lost him in FA to the team they lost in the ECF to. Piss poor management.

Paul Pierce felt that Johnson was going to be better than him and the star of the franchise so he basically hated on him and Johnson got traded. Stuff the NBA won't tell you, but I know JoJo
Yup..And we probably wouldn't get Rondo (2006 1st round pick) who got traded to Hawks from the Celtics with Walker, and later got traded to Suns with Diaw for Joe Johnson and traded on a draft day from Suns back to us for Rudy Fernandez...It's a big mess and Joe Johnson was the key for it....lol

we traded him for tony delk......
we also got back rodney rogers i think. now in hindsight of course we might have reconsidered. but i remember both delk and rogers played key roles in our run to the conference finals that year so can't be too mad. plus, both johnson and pierce were same type of player. and i'm glad we held on to pierce
