Dockin d fine+ mk2 50w bluetooth speaker. Is the German made Dockin D Fine+ mk2 a JBL Xtreme killer? How does it stack up against todays best Bluetooth speakers in 2020? I go over the main specs, tell you the headline features and test things like frequency response, volume levels and different sound modes.
Tested against the JBL Xtreme 2 and Soundcore Motion Plus.

more refined than d8 but twice the price. when i get my new speaker i will try a comparison.
i would suggest you all, rather get a jblx xtreme 2 for the same price or even vor 180 euro. OR EVEN BETTER: spend 50 euro more and get the Teufel Rockster Cross (if you live in germany at least or europe i guess). The rockster cross from teufel destroys jbl xtreme 2 and the dockin dfine +2 also of course
You can easily control the equalizer in your mobile settings or in apps like Spotify. I had the same problem when I was listening in nights while sleeping. Put the volume at 30-40% and lower at the equalizer frequency.

at what budget level? there is no one speaker out there that im aware of that will suit everyones tastes.
Sorry forgot to say IIRC you can also alter base by altering the volumes on bluetooth device and volume on speaker.

at this size-> TEUFEL ROCKSTER CROSS (250 euro) but maybe only in germany or europe..german brand like dockin.

Audio Pro looks quite good for that kind of music, but i didnt try it yet
Sounds nice imo, feels more open than Motion+ and is it just me or does Xtreme 2 do something weird to the vocals? The price kills it for me however.
the xtreme does have un-natural sounding vocals maybe due to roll off from just 6khz. yes dockin is priced high now, maybe in future that will change. the motion plus is more open in the high end while dockin more open in mids to my ears.

Bob on timewise for me because I'm looking for a replacement speaker and was considering the D Fine + (price wise lots cheaper) but still wanted to get the low down on this. Pity you didn't start with the original Award Winner because I'm sure Dockin may have sent you a later model for your reviews free of charge. DOCKIN GIVE THIS MAN EARLIER ITERATONS STILL FOR SALE FOR REVIEW!! But for me I could only come to a conclusion about 23 mins in when a clean sounding vocal came in - and the dockin sounded best for that. All the heavily syntesised sounds you use leave me a bit lost because I have no reference - what are they supposed to sound like? It goes 'boom boom' but what is the real 'boom boom' supposed to sound like in Audition or Ableton or whatever. It is a bit abstract for me. Sorry for long comment!
yup, whatever i use for test clips someone will say its no good :) these electronic tracks are great because they are complex and i do mix in vocals. I also do the charts. not sure you will find anyone doing much more than this??? i asked Ströer Products who sell the speaker for a review sample, they never replied :)

Smiley responce makes the speaker more appealing at first but long listen, makes me tired...Ofcourse it depends what kind music we listen to. Just a bit little bit smiley responce is good but mids should remain flat at least...
I like sound options more, instead of eq...Also dynamic adjustment is really useful and mostly necessary for bt speakers. I love to hear enough bass in low level listening...
the weird thing is most people prefer a flat sounding speaker because indoors you get some boost with reflections and because hopefully the mix for the track took account of our smiley face hearing. Its weird when you actually follow the chain to see that the reason flat speakers sound best indoors is not because they follow a flat chain, but because they are last element in a chain that is far from flat, if you see what i mean. Thus the harman curve being anything but flat. 😱
btw what did you make of Oluvs comparison with helsinki?
@@alanrossreviews i bought helsinki 2 years ago but I didnt use much, because it had a thin sounding in low levels. So i was using XB40 instead for long time...After i saw the new boosted mode in Oluv's video, i turned back to helsinki since than :)
Huge sound in small package for me, nice deep bass it has, so i still go with it...
but did you see him make a direct comparison with the dockin? i couldnt understand what he said as it was in german :)
@@alanrossreviews ahhh yes, i saw that...As far as i could understand, Dockin's output is not as precise as Vifa...I think that he was talking about a specific peak that you already metioned (5khz-6khz probably) and he was describing like a whistle (16:34), also he was saying that Dockin is bass dominant etc...I just selected some common words you know :D

2x motion plus. dockin is a bit niche with its warm rich detailed lower mids but isnt an all rounder. it has bigger bass than the m+ but the m+ is more open and clear and with two you have nice stereo.

@@alanrossreviews interesting because i dont like mine (lack of clarity and bass uncontrolled)i gave it to my son lmao
can only comment on this mk2 and bass for me is very well controlled, nice weight and nice resolution. some clarity is lacking due to 1-4khz dip but i love the strongs upper bass and lower mids, i was looking for a speaker strong in that area.

two motion plus, d fine just doesnt have a nice high end where the motion plus excels.

How much power it can give with USB charging? 1A? Cos' My Dockin dFine 1 is 1A which is very few!

that ive tried and for my taste yes. but i havent tried that many to say for sure. also depends how you like your music, i like the low mids on this speaker.
It is louder and has deeper basses JBL Xtreme 2 or Dockin D fine / +
x2 deeper but i havent done loudness test yet.

Kill Pop bass could be better , it’s muffled and boomy. I got the 2 Soundcores motion+ today and I can say they are way better than D Fine+.
@@ionutciobotariu6285 yea 2x soudncore motion+ are cheaper together and better soudning and better soundstage. maybe even as loud on amx. volume as one dockin dfine 2+ BUT i think they cant reach that deep and keep that bass like the dockin.
i personally had 2x soudncore motion+ and i compared them against a teufel rockster cross. they couldnt keep up with bass deepness and power but they had for sure the wider clearer sound
Totally agree, I have two motion+ the way they fill a room or garden with stereo sound is impressive.
omg the jbl sounds crappy compared to Dockin & Anker. I wait for the next generation and enjoy my 2 set of D Fine + til then 😁
