Thats normal i think, sparrow also has its own radar that can lock onto something when its in front of it

Fly high, rain down missiles. It’s been so fun lately, sparrows have been working so good. I got a 30 mile kill with the f15
I've been getting so many long range sparrow kills with the f14a, my longest since the patch is 40km
@@MrRaZzA1995 that's awesome! the sparrows have improved a lot and I have a lot more confidence when I launch one from deep. The F14A actually has the longest range it can lock the sparrow, when maps get bigger and people are forced to fly at a higher altitude then simply the ground, the sparrow will be really good. And it needs to be with Aim120 coming, or the whole sparrow community of stock grinders will have some problems

I believe that for BVR combat the F14B is the best option for the USA, the fact that it carries the AIM 54C makes it compete with the MIG 29 and SU 27, the chances are greater of missing the target if it moves too much, but in terms of range the phoenix in good conditions reaches 50~70km, in addition to the fact that it is a fox 3 missile where even if you lose the lock the missile will continue flying through the inertial system and if you acquire the lock again the guidance will be reestablished by because of the data link
A simple way to know when the AIM 54C has already locked onto the target with its own radar is to observe the missile's camera. When the camera locks onto the target, it means that the missile's radar is also locked on.

F-15 beats F-14B easily. 54C is easy to dodge, it's even slightly worse than 54A in WT (which is such a gaijin bs yea ik), while F15 has such a crazy performance. I dodged about 6 consecutive 27ERs in front aspect with it.
compete is a very loose word that i would use, comparing a 16g missile made to shoot in the middle of bombing formations vs the most potent radar missile in the game by far is not a very competitive option

Just use Mig29 or Su27 and the R27ER will do all job. Aka russian bias
I always climb to at least 40k feet, level off and pick up speed. I don’t even turn my radar on until I’m at altitude. I then use tws to acquire the ideal target, fire and defend. I hardly ever get shot down doing bvr and the only way to get shot down is too play risky, you can’t don’t that with radar missiles, the margin of error is too small. You can’t over commit and that’s what gets people killed, it’s better to have a missile miss than to be clubbed by an enemy missile because you are too stubborn to notch or go cold because you lose the lock. It’s better to live and be an asset to the team. Also having manual radar control is a must for bvr. It’s hard to get use too but you waste less time trying to select the right target.
Ive had sparrows go on a vocation even when i wait 4 seconds when launch is authoritized.

Well to be fair this is the only thing that works for Russian planes, in anything else all those MiG’s and Su’s are just a food for any other aircraft in the game, if not R-27ER’s(basically if not stupid enough US mains that ignore RWR warning that clearly shows that MiG is locking em, cause to dodge R-27ER is nothing more difficult than to dodge any other SARH missile) then winrate if these planes would be 0% instead of 45%, SB is a perfect example, most players there know how to defeat SARH missiles and if you’ll check win rates of planes you’ll see that pretty much every NATO plane has >70-80% winrate and every Soviet plane has less than 30% winrate because without stupid players that don’t know how to defeat missiles these planes are absolute garbage in the game
@@user-jy6cn3jy8g exactly, i fly high every day and watch my entire team hug the floor because they still struggle with notching, then from that I die from the enemy flying right over my teammates to kill me. I haven't died to a long range ER in months, if I do die its up close. once people figure out how to play the game then things might change
@@user-jy6cn3jy8g yeah I see US mains coping about R-27ER when its the only advantage that russian planes have at this point after the mig-29 FM nerf and the grippen and f-16c being just better turn fighters and the flanker having a botched energy retention which makes merging in any eastern bloc aircraft suicide

Thanx Mat, good stuff here. It really shows how far behind the F-15 is when it comes to BVR capability. Especially hard to use the Aim-7's due to the Sparrow's inability to actually guide right off the rail and it will then fly off and not guide on anything about 80% of the time. Not so the SARH missiles by the Russian aircraft. Even the F-16/F-4 Phantom/ and even the F-20 has a better guide percentage that the Aim-7 off the F-15. One thing Matt, Your quote of "The sparrow is NOT a bad missile, it's just unreliable" IMHO the unreliable-ness of the Sparrow makes it just THAT BAD when compared with it's Russian stable-mates. And...I would revise your statement that: remember when using the F-15 that you're NOT a front line fighter...to go toe-to-toe with it's Russian stable mates is NOT an option with this fighter.
with the current flight model on the flanker and fulcrum you can pretty easily out rate both which is why russian aircraft tend to avoid the merge to use their better long range missiles
Yeah the ER is basically the only thing the flankers and MiGs have to keep them truly competitive. With the R-73 it can be argued whether or not it’s better than the 9M, and the flight performance in a dogfight is just not it
idk why but i use the same plane in the same Radar mode and i literally get no targets on radar but get smited by other su27

How can i make replays on Ps5?
check the mail box on the bottom right in the lobby, then go to the page where it shows you all the rewards you made from the last match (the battle tab) and the replay option will be on the top left. Or the community tab, top left, then replays.
