- Went out to the salmon river tributaries again today in the pursuit of salmon. I was not lucky enough to get on a coho this time around but I did get some nice action with king salmon aka chinook. I met two guys that turned out to be pretty freaking awesome and we ended up fishing together for the day. it was an awesome experience that I hope all you guys will enjoy watching. please make sure to leave a like on the video and share with your friends. The salmon river in pulaski new york is on fire now!

That looks like sooo much fun!!
It really is awesome brother!
Hell yaaaaa
😁😁😁
Are you fishing in Douglaston part of the river? Coming up from Ct on Oct 5 th hoping the fishing will still be good.
No sir, if it was DSR i wouldnt mind blowing up the spot. I think they have a few tribs down river though! Best of luck to you. My buddy went out yesterday and did really well at trestle
If you could please respond ! I have a medium ugly stickGX2 that I want to take to Pulaski next week. It says 6-15lb line on the pole. Would it be okay to put 16lb main line on it? Appreciate the help !
It’s a combo reel/rod
Absolutely, i use 17lb test all the time... i use 20 for my catfish pole and works great
Thank you so much Man, I appreciate the info. I’m starting to catch on a little. Salmon fishing is a little different than the trout/steelhead fishing that I do here in W.V. and in Erie. I’ll let you know how we do. Thanks again !
No problem! But if you plan on the main river a 9 foot pole wld be better. I use the 6'6" in the tribs. But dont get me wrong the 6 footer will do just fine anywhere. I speak from experience
heading up for the weekend
Good luck! Hope you do great
Just got back from Pulaski your absolutely right about the main river fished there my first time up there never again, now I only fish the small brooks people are so much nicer
Unfortunately some people can really ruin the experience. But at the same time you can find people thatll be more than happy to help you out. Most of the jerks are in the popular spots so to avoid that i always like to walk a ways away. Sorry to hear about that but i hope you found a better spot and had a good time after
dude your truly awesome for helping them out and handing him ur rod
Thanks! They helped me out and i could tell they were good people. So the least i can do is pay it forward. Im just glad i was able to help out!
Amazing video I'm heading up tomorrow hopefully I catch some
Thank you! Best of luck. Let me know how you make out
Leave some for the rest of us
Same I’m going up too
🤣🤣🤣
Good luck!
October 17 can’t come soon enough, I’ll look around for your truck hope to see you there!!!!!
Good luck out there! Unfortunately dont think youll spot the truck haha. Probably wont be back up til November 😪
I’ll be up on thanksgiving too lol, got that chrome running through my veins already
I never been up there targeting them but this might be the year!!!!
I’m not going to lie, it’s a challenge!!!! But when you have the right equipment you’ll do just fine
Get yourself a jar of pautzke balls of fire and tie up some sacs but make sure you do all of the colors of mesh that are available
Nice hook ….right in the smacker
Dont always get that lucky, but sure glad i did haha. Thanks
Awesome video…If you don’t mind which tributary is this
Thank you but im sorry i dont spot burn.
I head up there October 15th in the early morning I'm hoping the fishing is still good then!
Prime time! Im sure you will have ample opportunity to slay em mid october
What kinda pole gear line leader and lures are you using?
When fishing the small tribs i go with a plain ole ugly stick. My main line i use 17lb yo-zuri topknot amd use a vanish leader ranging anywhere from 6-12 pounds. Usually if im gonna be fishing pools i use liggter line and for rapids ill go up to 10 or 12. On my hook i had a small bit of sponge way up top and used a 3" berkley trout worm (hot pink)
@@jagfishing836 I was told your supposed to use a certain size pole etc to fish for these guys
Its easier on the open river with a longer pole. However, imagine dealing with a 9 footer in a tiny creek lol.
@@jagfishing836 it’s not code or anything?
@@jagfishing836 also allot of people swear up and down salmon don’t bite is this true my one buddy claims in reality everyone’s out there trying to snag kings with a piece of sponge
just out of curiosity are flossing these salmon by any chance just wondering what style of salmon fishing your doing
So nice seeing my hometown river be on video like this, good video bro. Hope to see you around town
Hey thanks i appreciate the kind words!!!!!
@@jagfishing836 good
Sportsmanship is sometimes hard to find here in New York.
Yes, unfortunately i agree. And with this trip 2 strangers became my friends.
Hope the DEC doesn't catch that guy smoking in public...
What pole and reel you using?
I have a 9ft kastking setup for the main river but when fishing the tribs being in small and confined spaces i just grab my ugly stick gx2 set up. Honest to god it works amazing and its strong..... and if a salmon snaps it in half youre down about 50 dollars as opposed to an expensive set up.
Thanks for info 🎣
Youre welcome! Tight lines!
Heading up on the 6th of October would love to meet up. Might try the Black Hole. Nice fish !!!
Good luck! Just fyi theres a huge tree that fell in the blackhole to the right of the path going down. I dont think ill be up there til november again 😪
I’m pretty sure the DRS cut that tree looks cut down to me. They wanna keep people off that pool
Wouldn't surprise me. Ive never took a good look at it
What are these locations where you can avoid the bull shit on the main river?
I believe hes fishing the DSR part of the river. Only thing is i think its about 75 to 100$ a day to fish their now.
idk why i can't hook fish even 5 fish front of me smh
Haha it took me forever to get the feel for it. Now it comes easier. Also if theres more than 2 feet of water they will avoid that line like the plague lol
You have great and helpful videos! but hookin a king in a creek like that isn’t fishin
Way to floss'em. Great job.
Never, never, ever give anyone your rod. Its like lending out your girl. Never do it.
Haha i guess i have an open relationship with my rod 🤣🤣
