The simplicity and grace of the music, especially of what comes up at around 4'30", is completely overwhelming. How is it possible to come up on the fly with something that is both as simple and magic and natural as that ? That's what I call genius.
I love Jarrett's playing; he's my favorite musician, and I'm a drummer. This particular piece just seems to be one of the most peaceful pieces of music I've ever heard. I can play it over & over again.
That something like this can flow through him...proof to me of something greater....so incredibly grateful for Keith Jarrett...a constant island of serenity for me in an otherwise tough life....
I love how he was clearly going to ad a finishing chord on the end and the audience unconsciously told him not to. True improvisation there, with the audience an integral part.
The audience was an integral part of changing his song and cutting it short. That’s the reason he balked and remained seated without bowing to them after they rudely & prematurely cut his ending off. Clearly not true Keith fans. Anyone who knows KJ knows it ain’t over til it’s over. Sad.
I can not hold myself of writing some my own feelings again. The beauty of this piece would be a vision of reconciliation with oneself and restart of one'slife as well. This makes one to believe in power of music and gift of music. This piece would never fade away and keep someone to revive one's life. This is really a wonder and everything…
Keith Jarrett is probably the most influential jazz pianist living today: his concerts have made him world famous. He was a child prodigy who had his first solo performance at the age of seven. In the sixties he played with the Jazz Messengers and then with the Charles Lloyd Quartet, touring Europe, Asia, and Russia. He played electric keyboards with Miles Davis at the beginning of the seventies, and went on to lead two different jazz groups-one American and one European.

Please help me with the title of this most beautifull piece of peacemusic - I dont recognize having heard it before - yet in some intervals i do, and very emotionally touching some long time gone and buried memories of my life. Yours Truly passagain
Hello,I am Japanese, nice to see you everone. This piece is incredibly beautiful, with no doubt, it reminds us sincereity, peace of mind, etc. Even it is so painful as to screw ones mind.Is it improvisation? I wonder…
What can you say after hearing this? Nothing because it speaks words that can't be spoken. The only language it is is human. It transcends and touches us deeper as an organism, biologically, through his use of sound. Profound. Thank you.
I think all he was gonna do was hit one last chord, but he took the cue from the audience to let that be the end of it. I think maybe the audience was right, honestly. Improvisation, especially for Keith I think is as much an interaction with what's outside as what's inside.

Allan Maulana I think when improvising the ending is always difficult. He had a good one and it would just have become longer, not better. No more new music to come. Then a creak occured so he left it as it was. Just a decision you always weigh when coming to an end with your music.

The music is great of its own. Why are filks always having to comment this or that is the greatest or where is the sheet music. This is an improvisation/interpretation of seveeral sections of classic american songbook melodies. There are many inspired interprters. Just expand your horizons open your ears and you will find
@TheDemonicPenguin I'm going to say I slightly disagree with this opinion. I think it was an incredibly introversive improvisation, and the audience were merely spectators this time. I don't think they should have "interfered" with the ending, seeing as he clearly wasn't finished yet. The thing that made it beautiful was how personal it was, and in this particular expression I don't think there should have been any audience involvement at all.

@bazzatt1 Well, I play "the double standard card". To me it depends on who is behaving badly...maybe I have to much sense for humor :) But again: of course it's not ok what he did in Umbria. Maybe I'm amused because I'm not Italian as you may think.
@bazzatt1 I do accept your oppinion. But I see that he's an extraordinary person - so I do accept as well that there are some odd behaviors. I saw him in Berlin and was really touched because I could feel nearly physically, how much his creativity depends on the "secret"interaction with audience. I was angry about every noise disturbing this and understood immediately his reaction. Playing he is like an open wound.
@bazzatt1 Ahh, you think about this "Umbria-accident"... ok, this is really shocking (but -I confess- very entertaining :), because he blames the whole town for a handfull of respectless people who didn't stop shooting photos and recording. Of course that was to much - but I forgive him, that's my personal luxury I permit :)

This makes one believe in wonders..
This is a wonder..
This is a story, a poem, a movie, colour, words, love.
This is everything..
i never get tired of playing this beautiful peace of music. I keep playing it over and over again since i heard it for the first time on dvd in 2006
The best piano player, improviser on the planet. The man is pure genius.
Keith Jarrett has a special gift.. Sometimes words are not needed...

8 minutes of consoled sadness , intense relaxation of the soul
and release of the tears that i needed to shed.....
Nailed it.
Felt gratitude for his playing and touched to my heart and soul. Thank you, Keith Jarrett 🙏🏻
I listen to you Mr. Jarrett all the way from Holland-eu. Thank you for the beauty. 🌷🌷🌷❤
A bright star who sends as a little bit of hope.
l was there when Keith performed this true gem of art in Tokyo. it was a divine &
spiritual experience that I'll never forget.
So happy for your experience.

Heaven in my heart everytime I listening this....
Melancholic consolation of the highest order.......

❤❤❤ The incredible Keith Jarrett.
fantastic. KJarret is the best...
I wanna see part 2b as a separate vid! This is all quite amazing but for some reason that little bit is my favorite of the concert.
this music reminds me of the time I was suffering a heartbreak.
damn it, hes the only one capable to improvise songs othas would need to sit down and compose for weeks
@AlessandroFortarel thats nearly the right words . Thank you !!
Thank you for the music.

"Consoled sadness", perfect expression! :)

This isnt "jazz" It's just great beautiful music...period...
Heavenly.
I know this music very well (DVD Tokyo Solo). For me the best, what Jarrett ever played. Thanks for the video.
man who shows this way is commendable !
amazing... but i think the audiance starts clapping to soon...if i saw/heard right he wasn´t finished yet....

BELLO, BELLO.......
The fact, this is improvised is insane
Endless melody.....
it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he gets up every morning at 6am to start practicing !

So true. Such a desire for "ordinary" life too. To let everything that is, is. Speak. Listen.
Man what a lyrism....

he wanted to play the last chord but the audience stopped him :(
Yeah man, so sad he took away his hands :(

Keith-I have analysed his music for many years- his message is hope for the future, and universal returns from his private ivestment in his craft.
larger than life expression
@ricardomoyano It's my favourite key both when composing in pop and in jazz.
