Whoever engineered this record deserves a Grammy. I have listened to The Beaches enough to recognize voices, and you can clearly distinguish Kylie's and Leandra's background vocals meshing with Jordan's. And Eliza's hi-hat and snare are perfectly recorded. This song is just a masterpiece of arrangement and production. It is, IMO, the best cut on the album, hands down.

Everyone can adore "Blame Brett" but this is the absolute hidden gem on the album. I can't stop repeating it. If you see 99,000 plays on Spotify, I'm certain I contributed 98,000 of those. And I did my part, I bought the song.

Incredible song, honestly you guys should get a mix that's closer to your live sound for this song (more chorus on the guitar in the verses) and roomier feel and release it as a single. Eliza switches from 6/8 to 3/4 (and yes, there is a difference) from 1:04 to 1:13. I am not sure why, but that might account for the weirdness.
There's an extra beat thrown in there that makes it a little disorienting. If you're counting the song in 4/4, then the bar with the break is in 5/4, with the ba-da-BOOM drum fill at the end of the bar to clue us in as to where the 'one' is. Gives the feeling of a globe being spun around and stopped abruptly, though it will lead to some momentary confusion on the dance floor.
