Vessels attention to detail with this song and the placement on the album is so clever. Not acid or alkaline = a neutral pH of 7.0. What has a pH of 7.0? Water does. What’s the elemental theme of the album? Water. It is also the 7th song on the album. There are 12 songs on the album so it’s slightly past the middle of the album (perfectly misaligned). Plus it’s just an amazing song.
Sorry for so many separate comments. Bear with me I’m a little 🍃💨 up at the moment. You asked what we thought the song was about. Given the above chemistry lesson. If you go back and listen to the lyrics in a different mindset. I can only speculate but I believe the song is referring to the album itself and the catharsis he achieved through writing it.”I’m caught up in her design and how it connects to mine. I see in a different light the objects of my desire”
I like this, and I feel like there's no wrong answer. He seems to leave the perfect amount up for interpretation. Oh and I pinned your comment because its awesome! 🖤
I feel crazy telling people sometimes, but it's like Sleep Token's music has pierced my soul. I've never had music resonate with me the way theirs does. It has all the feels in the best way 🖤
@@TheJenoire i think we watched Vessel take his power back after it was lock in a box for however long. Now he’s unstoppable. I wish they did more videos like this. They are so insightful.
I love the diversity of Sleep Token’s music. There are heartbreaking things, but there are also three minute bangers like Alkaline. It’s easier for me to hang out in those difficult emotions because I know a breath of fresh air and big hooks is just around the corner.
This was the first ST song I heard. Was just listening to a metal mix done by YT about two years ago and this came on. I probably listened to it about 20 times in a row. Went back to One, all the way up to TPWBYT. Very few bands can grab ahold of a person the way this one did. Tool, Bring Me The Horizon, Falling in Reverse have been the only other bands that I dove through everything they did after hearing something by them. They're really just that good. If you ever plan on reacting to Euclid, which I'm sure a lot of people will suggest, I'd highly recommend going through the EP's and the three albums before it, there's a reason it's last. It's a fantastic song on it's own, but when you realize that it's constructed from the songs that came before it, and the pure call back at the end is breathtaking. While not as obviously emotional as some of their other work, the joy and finality of it makes me weep every time I listen to it. There are so few musicians putting out art like this and it's truly a blessing to get to witness it happen. I'd agree with you and say this is one of the songs I'd play to introduce someone to the band. If they have an emotional response to the change in the middle, they'll become a fan. Great reaction and insight.
This is a really good comment, I love those bands as well! I was a Ronnie fan from when There's No Sympathy For The Dead played on my stereo for like a year straight lol. And yes Euclid will be the last song for sure, I started thanks to comments like this, all the way back at the beginning and am going in order. Life changing 🖤
I think this song says "shes not bad, shes not good, but theres nothing like her"! To me anyway. Thats what i love about their music. Its kinda take it how u need to use it with them and im just happy to be here for it. ❤❤❤
It’s my interpretation that much of his lyrics are regarding a “she” being his anima. His soul. He seems conflicted internally as we all are by nature. Some people just have a way of putting it that is so magnetic. Vessel has this ability. Everything he writes is a flex. In regard to alkalinity. Like the alchemists of the past, this is a metaphor probably for the concepts of polarity.
The Apparition is such a good song (and guess what, it's one of the only songs they never played live). If you haven't checked yet you should listen to Take Me Back To Eden too 🫶
His relationship with “sleep” Hypnos… comes forward in a way that is like a toxic relationship. What you’re describing in this video is something that can happen with any art that is driven by the spirit of the depths as Jung would call it. And in that same vein, these albums are vessels version of liber novus. It’s a psychopomp. If you let it. It will cause change in you.
All I know is my life is better for having Sleep Token in it. A catchy, short and easy to listen to song. Lyrics not too complicated for once. Just a token of his appreciation on the complexities of his significant other imho
This video is immense isn't it? And don't you think that Vessel could script the most awesome horror film ever? I *knew* you'd both love it! By the way, the part where that last man was grabbed, it was a giant hand that got him. 😁
'Are you really okay' should be up there for one of your next reactions with Taylor, I think it will be quite confronting for you both, plus its a beautiful song
Peter Prometheus Parker" nice lol .........i lost my cat of 16 years 2 months ago. I want a new kitty. When the time comes... male this time. I shall call him..."Vessel Kitty"
LOL yea I really like having her on the channel! I'm still getting used to talking to just a camera, but when she's around I feel more like my normal self
Glad that you brought back your emotions from the previous video, coz it felt like you were holding back a lot back then. 😁 Strangely, i don't really like this song, except for the drumming. I think i take it too literally, it sounds like he's describing her as someone who's indecisive, always in the middle, neither in love or out of love. But i guess most people interpret it as he thinks she's so special. Haha. 🤷 But i always get excited when i play the whole album straight, and this song comes on, coz i love the songs after this one..😊😊😊
Thank you! Yea I knew this was going to be kinda long because I left a lot on the table in the Fall For Me video. So you're favorite songs are coming up after this banger!! 🤯
@CasualReactions hahaha 2 of them at least i really really like 😁 the others i like only because i've heard them less, as the songs after alkaline (with the exception of the closing song) were never played live, i think. So they feel like a secret treat for full album listeners hahaha 😂
I get the same interpretation. Vessel describes her in a way that leaves me thinking he loves her, but can’t understand why, almost like infatuation. “Either way I’m into it”, he doesn’t care what she is, only that he’ll do whatever he needs to get her to love him back. There’s desperation in this one, to me.
@DerrickCharles5750 ok I have their entire re recording they recently released in a playlist to do a full album reaction/review. I'll get to it soon and I'm stoked af for it. I want Taylor in on that action though
@ yeah the last song lazy legs is my favorite off the album. I was gonna ask if you can do heaven shall burn by them unless you did that one already lol

❤ I love this song. It's so straightforward, and just good. Live he does little steps forward from the beginning beat. They call it walkaline 😂
@@heatherbennett4512 😂 nice!
@CasualReactions it's also one where he fondles his mic stand a lot lol. He tries to make it very intense 😂.

The video is about about Vessel using his hand dancing powers, that Sleep gave him, to triumph over the forces of evil. 😆
