- This week I go back into the paddock to test the Fencestay end assemblies for strength. I deliberately over tension 2.65mm HT wire and get well over one and a half tons of tension onto the assembles, then measure the movement. I get some surprising results. Please note that over tensioning a fence like this is not recommended and will actually weaken your fence, not somehow "Make it better". Subscribe for a new video each week! Morning mate yes I can vouch for this product that's exactly how it transfers the pressure I hiave used this product and deliberately over strained it for my own test purposes over a 280 metre distance with 5 wires and it did not disappoint. The way the leverage is set up they can not pull over very happy with them

I'm doing a horse mesh fence soon 1.8m tall with 19 line wires. What would you expect the strain to be to get it tight enough?
About 2000kg?

19 line wires eh? Talk about sucker for punishment…. Yep, sounds about right, they normally recommend about 100kg per line wire on prefab.
The fence stay system looks good... Do they make one for junctions like paddock corners? or do you need two separate assemblies?

Good idea 👍 I will use this product on my property but I plan to concrete the posts in and leave them for a week or two to cure.
Avoid concrete mate. Creates problems down the track.

I am doing repairs and Maintenance on old fence - using the Wireman Strainer with a Tension Gauge - what is the tension that I should be straining to ?
Depends on the wire. The strain rating is usually 1/3 the breaking strength. For most 2.5mm HT wire this is 1.8KN
That was very interesting, thanks for the demo.
Soil type would massively impact the results. For instance after heavy rain in clay that might lift up. Future video idea could be fencing in different soil types

@@FarmLearningTim beats ripping out couple of month old box end assemblies a contractor did because everything was undersized for the soil conditions

Tim, love ur videos. Just wondering why most of ur runs is 80m. We r abt to run 100m, is there a restriction or max length? Thx.
It’s because of my location. I have that length run.... you can run 500m rolls if you have the strength to strain them!
@@FarmLearningTim wats the recommendation of the galvanised pole for end assembly. Prior to watching your video, we were going for 25nb or 33.7mm pole at 3m inserting 0.6m into the ground.
@Jementa T I would go deeper than that. Typically you would go for a 2.1m end post for a 1.2m high fence. Diameter depends on soil type, expected stress, and fence lengths. The bigger the diameter the stronger. Period.

...and if you had nearly 2 tonne of pressure on the end assembly I think you'd have bigger issues than it creeping through the ground tbh.

Used one of these supplied by client. Disturbed my OCD that the brace wasn't a brace but a stay. Didn't like the tech screw idea, alright for temp fencing, but the tech screws look dodgy and unprofessional.
New stuff is hard to get used to isn’t it?
