Kat Vibes Del Rosario, try doing a google search to find articles against the line shavings to convince your mom. There’s plenty. My go-to is anything from House Rabbit Society. Show her how the wood pellets would be much cheaper and safer for your rabbit!
This video is so good and helpful! :D I recently found out that the woodshavings that my rabbits had were pine, and this video helped me find a better litter. My rabbits now have wood based litter.
I use wood pellets! I go to a local feed store and we buy everything there for such a cheaper price then a pet store! Btw i just subscribed today, I love your videos!
My neighbor purchased socks for a homeless lady, who was cold, and she gave him her bunny in a dog carrier bag last night, cuz she knew the bunny was cold, and she couldn't care for it. So they asked me if they could release him in the high school horticulture area, and if he would survive. I said no way, bring him to me! Fortunately, someone in my building left a fairly good size dog crate (approx 2 1/2 feet long, & approx 2 feet tall) by the dumpster in new condition, and I had picked it up. So I have him in that. I've spoke to a friend, who informed me to get the hay, and some parsley, cilantro, and some toys. I have kitties, and a maltese (who are totally excited about him or her? ), so I gave him a small, lightly stuffed animal, and a plastic toy, salt lick (I have a hamster also, so I have some stuff to help), a mineral chew, and put a small cardboard box, filled with pine bedding, on top of newspaper, and I added shredded newspaper for him to play, which he really liked right away, and started playing with it! How am I doing so far? lol It's all I have at the moment, cuz the stores closed early today, for the holiday. I wasn't planning on keeping this kid, but I'm obviously an animal lover, and feel for the little guy. But my apartment is small, with not a lot of space. If I decide to keep him, I want to let him run free with my other kids/pets. They have all seen him, and I've opened the door, so they can all smell him, and he can see, and smell them also, and they were all fine. So what do you think? Anyone's advice would be appreciated! Thank you :-)
I would get rid of the salt licks / mineral chews, rabbits don't need them (and they aren't good for them). And I guess just make sure your dog and cats aren't gonna hurt him. It's your decision if your gonna keep him or not.
Sydney Scala Yet, I just spoke to a professional, and told her what was said. And she said the only reason you would not want to give it to them, is if they inhale it. But one salt lick, should last close to a lifetime. If you're rabbit is inhaling it, then you would remove it, and can sprinkle some salt on their food.
When are you going to open up your shop again?! I really want to order some of your products!!! Please make a video of when you are gonna open up your shop again! Thanks!🤗
I have carbon/wood pellets that make it easy to only change his litter once a week. He never eats it and it manages odor very well; while not having much odor of its' own. I've only ever found it from one company though at Tractor Supply. Not too expensive but in small 5 lb. bags 👯
I love your videos! I'm asking for a bunny and when my mom had questions I showed her one of your videos and you just are educational when it comes to rabbits!!!
Thanks for the info I'm so happy that wood pellet is the best one or maybe it isn't but I know it's one of the best by the way wood pellets crashes into small pieces when the rabbits pee on it right? I'm sorry if I have bad grammar or I say it wrong I'm just a kid and I got a rabbit just like 2 or 3 days ago and I don't want it to die 😰
I would highly recommend fleece liners for guinea pigs! They can be a bit pricey but they save you money in the long run cos you just throw them in the washing machine and you can rescue them for years! Plus doing full cage cleans are very easy cos you don't have any litter to scoop up. You just shake out excess hay and poops, clean the cage as normal and put fleece liners in the wash.
Hello, what if my bunny eats the litter pellet? ☹ i use pine pellet litter (best cat). In my country there's no paper litter like you mention, but cedar shavings huh. So the cats (pine) litter is my only option. Hope you reply this Q. Cheers! 🤗
I use the Cat Litter Paper Pellets, and so far, they are great, they really help with the odor and they are also quite comfortable for my bunny to sit in.
With wood stove pellets do you change the litter more like cat litter where you scoop out the poop and clearly wet areas or do you dump the whole thing as you would with a paper shaving litter?
I was planning on getting a mini lop bunny but I'm not sure what size cage to buy or how much food I should feed them also what kind of rabbit do u have?
Question: is ferret litter ok? Is there a breed of animal that litter's ok for bunnies? Is there a certain brand you recommend to get the pellets from?
I use carefresh for my bunny but I find that it doesn't hold in the scent very well... It also is very expensive to change the litter everyday because it smells. I try to bear with the smell and leave the litter for at most 2 days sometimes but that only happens when im lazy. Usually, I spray a little bit of vinegar water into the clean litter and I find that helps a bit but not very much. I live in the city and can't find wood stove pellets anywhere. I did come across Kaytee Soft Granule Blend Small Pet Bedding Scented With Real Lavender. I know scented stuff is bad cause like you said chemicals and stuff but this claims its real lavender... Would it be okay to mix a small handful of this with the paper bedding? Or should I put a small handful at the bottom of the litter box and add the care fresh on top? Or should I put a piece of newspaper in between them so the rabbit doesn't get to it? I've read some reviews that their rabbits would eat the Kaytee bedding and wondering if its bad... Does anyone use this type of bedding and can give their views on it?
How long would a 20 lb Feline Pine bag last? What about the 40 lb wood stove pellets? I have a 2lb dwarf bunny and I change his litter every 2 days. His litter box is 12in x 10in. 😊 I’m running out of my current litter (aspen) and need to know which product is worth it since I do live in a student apartment for the next 6 months and I wouldn’t wanna buy something that’s too big to carry when I move unless it’s worth it. So if anyone could let me know how long they last you I’d greatly appreciate it! 💞
Hey @StormyRabbits I was wondering because I wanted to try out he horse stall bedding, does it bother your rabbits feet at all? Because I would be switching from aspen shavings to pellets.
I know this video was made a few years ago, but I rescue rabbits very often and I cant afford to but paper based litter every week so I've considered straw. Is straw ok?
If the pine wood stove pellets smell like pine is it safe? I currently use carefresh paper bedding for my rabbits but it's just soooo expensive! I live near a bunch of farm-y stores and I've seen them there before so I wanna buy some, I just don't know if there's unsafe wood stove pellets
Hey Abby! Mind answering a question for me? I just got an indoor cage for my bunny today and don't know what bedding or litter to choose. I have said this before but, my rabbit is not fixed. I have a few options to choose from: Shavings: Apple wood or cherry wood or possibly straw. I am planning to litter train him again as well. Another option i can choose from is no bedding or litter or fleece ( I am unable to use fleece or get good fleece >_
Is it okay if a rabbit smells cat litter in the room it's in? Or is that still bad for it? Btw, the cat litter is scented cat litter but it's not clumping litter or clay litter
@@abbymorsey How much pine pellets do you add to the litter box when you change it? Just enough to cover the bottom? Or more? I'm confused about this. I think I may have been putting way too much in (as they expand so much) Thanks!
I have a thought about newspaper as a litter. If you put newspaper as litter for your rabbit what if they chew it? Wouldn't it be a problem because they have ink on them and also if they do urine on the paper wouldn't the ink get on their paws because it's wet and if they do get ink on their paws, when they groom they would be licking the ink wouldn't they? Please answer my question I'm just curious
Newspaper is safe but you have to change it out very frequently like every day or every other day ! If you do use newspaper make sure to put a lot of hay on top of it and it won't be a problem!
this is an awesome channel to look at while doing your research for getting a bunny
I am getting my first rabbit today. He's a calico Holland Lop named Fish. watching your videos helps me get ready for his arrival. ;)
I use pine :( . The guy at the pet store convinced my mom that it was 'safe' and that it reduces odor.
Majestic Wolf Girls shavings?
Iv researched and found it's bad if the bunny is caged cause it sits in the shavings 24/7
Me too I'm scared for my rabbit now :((((
Kat Vibes Del Rosario, try doing a google search to find articles against the line shavings to convince your mom. There’s plenty. My go-to is anything from House Rabbit Society. Show her how the wood pellets would be much cheaper and safer for your rabbit!
NEVER listen to pet store advice. They also convince people to buy rabbit cages. Just awful advice.
This video is so good and helpful! :D

I use a layer of the yesterday's news to cover the bottom then I use straw to fill the litter box.
Willow Tree Pets I also use news paper for example the trump news👍🏻
Willow Tree Pets I used to use yesterday's news but, she just said not to use newspaper.😋😂😂😂
Taryn Maschke I was just joking😖😢😝😜😋
Yeah it's in a pellet form. I do not use news paper. lol

you just have to be careful with pine pellets, as if they are ingested in big quantities, can expand in their stomach and cause big problems
Dom you use critter litter??

PLEASE ANSWER! Is cedar pellets ok?
I actually use the carefresh paper bedding because I use it for my guinea pigs too so it’s so much easier when you can just buy it in a huge bag.
I would highly recommend fleece liners for guinea pigs!
