I've never heard or played ANYTHING that compares to a Yamaha digital piano.
I have on old Clavinova stage piano from the 90's (pf P-100) that to this day sounds better than any Roland, Nord or Korg out there. Korg has incredible synthesis engines, but when it comes to the heart of the stage piano - the PIANO - nothing beats Yamaha.

yes i agree, ive had the P80 and since a decade already the CP-50, still enjoy it every day.

Kawai´s flagship and high end digital pianos compete against the Yamaha and some of their models blow Yamaha out of the water (MP11SE, CA99, both sound fantastic). Having said that, Nord also pulls no punches when it comes to piano sounds, action not as good though

I was considering the Nord but I think for that amount of money it leaves a lot to be desired in the quality control department. I’ve seen everything from broken knobs out of the box to loose keys and the like. And for $4000-$5000? Forget it, I’m not taking the risk. The Roland RD2000 was another challenger but I went with the CP88.

@@CygnusRoc Absolutely right. Nord cutting corners by installing those crappy Fatar keybeds and keeping their prices insanely high. Even the Nord Grand does not feature a top notch action, what a joke. Soundwise are pretty good though. The CP88 is a wonderful instrument and sounds impressive.

Are nord stages so expensive because of the hype? They seem pretty awesome, and I've always wanted one, but if I can get something similar for way cheaper, I'll just do that. Is the Yamaha CP the best replacement of a nord stage?

I have purchased the Yamaha CP88 and am facing the choice of speakers for a studio/small area setting. Its either a pair of Yamaha HS8 monitors or a single QSC 10.2. What would be your recommendation? Thank you.

Not for the guys using nord for organ on the electro or stage. The CP88 might compare favorably to the Piano 3 or 4. Not sure how the finger boards compare, but each have good models and advantages.

The problem with the CP88/73 is that Yamaha puts so much effort into trying not to 'cannibalize' their other products that they gimp every single thing they make in some significant way and target it for a very specific niche. This could have been THE digital piano to buy, but they left out VRM and have poor decay/sustain which makes the acoustic pianos useless for anything except performing live with a muddy mix in a noisy bar (which I'm sure was the intent in the original design brief). No solo playing, no recording, not even stage concerts. Instead of buying this from Yamaha, I will have to go elsewhere. They're trying to force me to buy a P-515 and a CP88, but instead I will probably buy neither. A simple software update adding VRM would guarantee that I buy a CP88.

JESUS CHRIST died for you on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and is The TRUE LIVING GOD. In a prayer repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well. Have FAITH in CHRIST. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again, and turn away from all wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You. JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK SOON.

You do realize there are great organ modules you can get if you need dedicated proper Hammond sounds without actually needing to get another keyboard, right....?
No one keyboard by one brand will be excellent (for everyone) in every single sound. This is s STAGE PIANO, so the main focus (and the majority sample memory allocation and resources), will be on acoustic/electric pianos. The other sounds are there just to get some quick basic bread and butter generic sounds.
I really don't get this "one keyboard on stage" trend this days... Not only it looks lame, but it's also limiting. My absolute minimum on stage is two keyboards (a piano weighted one and a top semi-weighted synth type).
A CP73 and a Kronos will get you all the basis covered :)
