Love your videos...Recently moved to Central GA and even though I've had my JKU for 10 years, the traverse was my first "off road" adventure. Love the trail and will be exploring more--watching your videos is highlighting some areas I missed on the first run and making me hungry for more adventure!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words! I love the traverse. I’ve done it twice and each time was like a totally different trip. There is always something new or different.
watching your video here makes me want to bring my small group of jeepers and do the ride one weekend. I am 54 and have never camped in my life , but have recently put it on my bucket list .
Highly recommend! I'm sure in your group of Jeepers someone will help you with the tips/tricks/best practices to make your fist camp adventure a success....get out there and hit the trails!
I live just across the Alabama line, on top of Sand Mountain, from where you guys started this journey. Cool stuff. I may have to ride over toward Dalton one weekend and see what I can get into over there! thanks for sharing!
Outstanding video. A friend and I are planning on doing this trip next month. I would really appreciate if you could share some more information about resupply and gas locations along the way. Im also interested in your opinion on the best direction. West to east or east to west ? Cheers mate.
Resupply points are pretty easy. Pretty much as soon as you get out of any of the Forrest sections you’ll have enough signal to search for a gas station if you need it. Helen, will be a great place if it’s not too busy. I prefer it going from Alabama to South Carolina because all of the best stuff is at the end that way and you end on a high note. The Alabama side is a little less exciting.
I have another Traverse video coming. (Need to edit it still) but it’s a VERY different video in terms of the experience. Haha. But ran it through same direction and mostly the same refill points
Man that's hard to say for sure since I unfortunately never marked it on my map, but its got to be several miles. Its a left that looks like its almost going back the opposite direct. There aren't any other turn offs like it, it can be easy to miss if you're just going and not paying attention, but if you are looking for a trail off to the left you shouldn't miss it. But its going to be a good ways past. Maybe 30 minute to an hour. ?
@@SimplyMustGo Thank you, I looked on google maps as well to see the trail from an above view but wasn't sure where to starting looking. I appreciate it alot. We are heading out on Sept. 30th . Have watched you videos like a dozen times and took notes lol.
What month and what was the temp at night. Heading up there in April. Also, what in car camera you using? Almost looks like it’s on a x y axis deal that really gives a real look at the terrain.
We went in April ( during spring break ) it was great weather. Warm during the day, but very pleasant at night. Maybe mid to lower 60s. My “dash cam” is a DJI osmo 1 action camera.
Unfortunately parts of Cashes Valley have been closed off near the cemetery due to people who have done things (trash, tearing things up as you noticed) to ruin it for everyone.
At around the 32 minute mark, you say that Georgia was set up as penal colony and a debtors prison. That is incorrect. While it is true that Oglethorpe wanted to help the poor, no one was ever released from prison and brought to Georgia. Interesting fun facts though, no Catholics, Jews, rum dealers or slaves were allowed under the original charter. Some say lawyers were banned too, but that is not specifically mentioned in the charter. You are correct though about South Carolina being the crown jewel of the colonies. One of the reasons for Georgia’s founding was as a buffer between the Spanish in Florida and South Carolina. In addition, out of all the reasons for the founding of Georgia, defense was the only thing that they excelled at. However, Oglethorpe was tried in court in England when he returned home for not going into Florida to continue the fight after the victory against the Spanish (due to the fighting prowess of the Highland Scots) at the Battle of Bloody Marsh.
That's super interesting to hear. Maybe I was taught bad / outdated info. 🤷♂️ didn't know about the Oglethorp being tried. That's pretty cool. Especially as a Highland Scot I find that very cool. Thanks so much for the comment. Now I'm going to have to go do some more history research.
Great video I’ll be doing this in April in my Polaris ranger xp1000 it has 6 inch lift 4 inch portals on 37s

How far past the Shallowford Bridge was the cool campsite trail that was up the hill? Hoping for that to be my night 3 campsite in a few weeks.

That trail looks fun! How beginner friendly is it? I plan on running a stock XJ over the trail
Your good! It’s very beginner friendly.

What was the first forest campsite you used, Hickey Gap?
Yeah. Pretty sure that’s what it was called
What campground did you use your second night?
I believe it was tumbling creek
@@SimplyMustGo I'm doing a west to east trip the first week of Oct so trying to get an idea of where to stay and places that are "must see"
Name of the song around the 8 minute park please and thank you?
Unfortunately parts of Cashes Valley have been closed off near the cemetery due to people who have done things (trash, tearing things up as you noticed) to ruin it for everyone.
Yeah I heard that. Really disappointing they had to do that. Can’t understand how people think it’s ok to do / be like that.
So with parts of it closed can you even do the cash valley trail at all ?
Cashes valley always ended at the cemetery

@@SimplyMustGo On another note, Loved your video. I'm considering doing the Georgia Traverse as a shake down run before the Trans American Trail.
@@recon1172 yeah it’s a great trip to do as a shake down!
do you feel like a 2wd truck could have made most of this trip?
The main trail yes, but not that side trail to the ridge top campsite.
I would love to experience that.😊
It was a blast!
