- Join us for the first vlog of our Welsh bank holiday weekender starting at Coney Beach Pleasure Park in Porthcawl
Coney Beach first opened way back in 1918 housing many coasters and rides in it’s time, with one of them being a wooden coaster built in 1920 called Figure Eight, sadly it was removed in 1981
The park is mainly full of traveling fun fair rides with a few old fixed rides one of them being an old school ghost train, the best ride there has to be the amazing Super Star
Vlog and povs are all filmed in HD 1080p 60fps using a GoPro Hero 6 with official accessories

Loved watching this, haven't been to Porthcawl fair for years. Have great memories of the rides from the 1970s and 1980s. Shame you couldn't time travel as I'm sure you'd have loved it 😁 Thanks for a great vlog.

Attraction next door to the Ghost Train is the KINGDOM OF EVIL. For some reason, all the artwork has been painted over on the top, making it not very obvious what it is (looks pretty crap all in that light colour). Interestingly, it looks like the displays have been updated in recent times - a few years ago it was all the same as it was in the 80s when it first opened (it was originally a WAXWORKS). It's always been pretty static, but there used to be a Demon King on the last but one stretch that used to move and talk to you, and the Hell Hounds used to bark really loudly at the end with strobe lighting and frighten you, but none of that worked in recent times! Amazed it's still there!

My Grandma And Grandpa used to take me here all the time. last July, My grandma passed and my grandpa was struggling with depression and I really miss this place 😔

Hope you had a good time at Porthcrawl, a bit of info on the Superstar, it’s the last one built, one thing this ride can do is when the car is upside down they can lower the main arm down, only ever saw this happening when this ride was in Holland.

Sascha Aipassa I feel sick if I do at lot of them, but no I’ve never been sick 🤢 after rides but came close when we went to Pleasure Island and Wipeout at Pleasurewood Hills is intense

NutsRU Gaming We stayed 2 nights near Oakwood so went to Coney Beach on the way, we also went to Barry Island on the way home yesterday
Coaster Crazy ah makes more sense. It used to be a lot better! Used to go on that old train ride when I was a kid. The beach party ride has only just returned as it was one of the afterburners affected by the Orlando incident. The travelling coaster “mega blitz” was something special. It was also very painful! Appreciate the reply.

I live just under 50 miles from coney beach and on camera the fair looks like a really good place but sadly it's not due to the price of the kids rides, Smoking allowed while operating the rides and foreign people operating the rides when they cannot speak a word of English. The kids train ride have been their for years but when they replaced the old train carriages for new thomas carriages they put the price up from £1 to £2 and now not many people goes on them. On wednesday and friday the half price rides are not until after 5pm or 6pm and they don't include the beach party and they cut the ride time down so much it's not even worth a £1 on some rides.
I couldn't agree more, but the sad thing is, with the right backing, this place could be the premier tourist destination in S. Wales.

The rides r mostly for either kids or for Older teens/Adults
There was nothing my 10 year old brother and me (13) thought looked good
And it looked a little bit abandoned to me. But in this vlog it looked like the opposite of what I said

Do you think I could take a Superstar I'm eleven years old I'm going to a Pat Collins fair soon and I've been on technical park loop fighter (no limit) so i wonder if I could take that
Great vid Andy, was there the day after, when the it was so packed, the queues were all the way back to m4 lol. CJust a bit of info about the park for you. Was originally opened in 1920 as a way of entertaining American troops stationed there after WW1, hence the reference to Coney Island. The park has had to come through a lot of adversity with the fact that transport infrastructure was largely taken away and the local council do virtually nothing to help. That's why the local businesses should be proud and Coney Beach should be treasured. It is amazing that top enthusiasts like yourself and David from Slothy vlogs have come down and done great vlogs, that are only going to help the place survive (u should have done Beach Party tho lol, different to just normal wipe out). Best way to enjoy full day/holiday down Porthcawl tho is to take in the other beaches that I don't know if you were aware of, the town also walking distance is really nice and Trecco bay caravan park, a few minutes walk away from fair. There other places nearby if u fancied camping etc too. You should come back soon take in rest of Porthcawl.

Hi Andy I love your vlogs! I used to visit Coney Beach in the 60s when I was very young and me and my sister used to ride on the little train you mentioned. Also I think there was a water ride (I may be wrong). Good to see you at Creaky recently as I live in Devon now: despite my age I still love a good coaster and will be up in Blackpool later this year to visit family. Keep up the great vlogs I will be watching!!

kkrispy2009 P yeah the 4K footage just wasn’t working but I have noticed that the 1080p 60fps picture on the GoPro Hero 6 is amazing ! Their is 2 more vlogs in the way 😉

The oldest theme park is Blackgang Chine in Isle of Wight and second oldest theme park is Wicksteed Park in Kettering :)

Actually I’ve just looked and Coney Beach opened before Wicksteed in 1918 but it’s not classed as a theme park, Wicksteed opened in 1921

Andrea Goodwill the classic log flume was demolished years ago and the park was closed for a long long time, it’s now full of fun fair rides ! We did go yesterday and a Vlog will be up soon
