Fillmore has the best introduction to a game than any video game period. The way the soul enters the statue and the music coming in just fits so perfect.
Thank you for heading down to Fillmore at the perfect musical spot. Going from right after that phrase of the palace music into the descent music into Fillmore 1 is just excellent.
>Was in the middle of drawing a centaur for a project >Got bored, looked up Actraiser on UA-cam >First boss is a centaur I... guess I should get back to work.
Wow, this is cool :) Never played this game, but I played Soul Blazer -- which followed this game as a kind of indirect sequel. "The Master" in ActRaiser is the same Master that commands you in Soul Blazer. Plus, virtually all the sound effects and user interface is the same in both games. Thanks for the video!
Daaaamn, I remember this. My brother used to play this on the SNES all the time. I still love the music, and the scenery, and those trees that move and have hands, and everything about it. c:
I still have the original SNES cartridge of this game, somehow managed to lose the box wihch I regret every single day, recently start playing it over again, love this game!
OMG, I didn't even know you had it on your post description, I just saw it now. That's SO weird, how I told you I wanted a translation b4 reading your post description.
This game brings back great memories of a time when video games were worthy of remembering. Its funny how I can sing the songs from old video games but not from new ones, there was a special and unique charm to video games during those days that is absent of games today. There are great games these days, but they dont feel as unique as the ones years ago.
I played this game for the first time recently on my PSP (I never owned a Snes). It holds up surprisingly well as many other Snes games do. Really enjoying it, along with a Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger and a number of other classics that I'm playing for the first time :).
"The conclusion of the story reflects the idea that people who are not suffering or in need of help can feel as though they are independent and do not need guidance from any 'higher power'." I think in a way this speaks so much about how we humans react as well. Whenever were happy and fine the need of a higher power fades, but when we are in need this need comes back.
I like the addition of the c major chord in the beginning in very typical Bach resolution style, as the c major chord was considered by him to be "God's chord". Hell so much of this sound track is very heavily Bach inspired I feel.
I searched for the song "Fillmoa" by the master of songship Yuzo Koshiro, as played through in the video game it was supposedly written for, and truly I did find it. It's not the promised land, but I guess I'm glad I found a semblance of the thing promised.
I remember first renting this game. I didn't know much about it, but it quickly became one of my favorite games for the console. The music in Act 1 of Fillmore is one of my all-time favorites, hehe. Sadly, I never got to play the sequel :(
It's really a shame no game has ever been made like this since. Such an awesome soundtrack too. The Actraiser Symphony is one of the best orchestral remasterings of a video game soundtrack ever.
To all the older people out there (late 20's early 30's) remember how this game pioneered the sound in video games in home consoles? The game won awards for it realistic soundtrack...a 16-bit system producing music that sounded like an actual symphony orchestra. The graphics were best too (at that time) they also got acclaim for the visuals...snes was great.
This was one of my favorite SNES games. At the time, the soundtrack for this game was cutting edge technology. I remember the big deal they made about it. It did sound like a real orchestra playing, that was a big deal for a 16-bit system.
That's right!- I forgot about the TV tuner, yea, that was pretty cool. I do however remember the battery life. I owned a Gameboy prior to owning the Game Gear, and the difference in playing time was unbelieveable.
@Alex03000351 You just came up with a supremely awesome idea- this game needs to come back! I didnt like Actraiser 2- it was too hard....but this game was amazing! It was 74.99 when it came out at some stores! Totally awesome game that I still remember like yesterday :)
I remember playing this game, in fact, i still have it for the snes. Very good game. The angel parts get a little stupid at times, but all in all, a great game.
Here is a good one for you ! I have been trying to remember the name of this game for ohhh probably 3 years ! Tonight I I was setting at my computer and the name ActRaiser just popes in my mind and I Googled it and almost fell on the floor ! The mind is very strange indeed . I also loved this game but I just couldn't remember the name of it for years !
Merry Christmas by the way! ^-^ I look forward to see what will happen in the next 10 Years of this channel. I have a question for you by the way ^ ^ Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
Helloz World Merry Xmas! I look forward to see what games will look like in 10 years time! Yes, I am a good person. Sometimes painfully so. Life would be much easier if I was a lousy scumbag but that was not my way.
I saw this game in my list of roms and thought i'd give it a shot. I had NO idea what to do so i googled the game and saw this vid and didn't know about having the palace over those circles. Anyways it's a really interest and good game.
This game won awards for it's sountrack- boasting Snes's unparalelled sony music chip in the hardware. This music was the best a home system could do at the time, and it still actually sounds good. The second level sounded like a real orchestra playing... and not some cheesy 8 bit sounding music
agreed my generation and my generation alone, excluding even a grade above or below my class, consisted of far more nerds/geeks than anything else. why? because when we were 3 years old super mario world was released and we all got it and a snes. by far the best and most challenging time of gaming, along with megaman, metroid, games like this and etc we'll never be the same.
everyone I talk to in person has never heard of this game. So I do what I usually do, bring them over to play it and have them go " this is seriously a super nintendo game?" why yes...it's that amazing..
besides Link to the Past, this is probably my favorite SNES game. I spent a lot of time playing this one, but never beat it. Those bosses got to be pretty damn hard. Especially at the end.
"Oh, I sense I have guided you to your first steps on a path of enlightment..." Indeed you have. I'am not very computer literate however I've yearned for english translated Japanese titles all my life.
back in the day when i was young i thought those blue enemy lookin things are "Beast" from xmen. since you know, i also watched xmen animated series on Fox Kids channel 11.
I loved the original actraiser. Its one of my all time favorite SNES of all time. The soundtrack on the game was the best I ever heard at that time. This was my favorite background music (fillmore),and it sounded epic. (Should have been the background music for final battle :)) Actraiser 2 was not as good play wise though. I agree with the remake of original Actraiser game idea!!!
@NielsShoe SNES SCp700 had 8 channels, nt 7. Sounsd where generated differently on the SNES and the Neo-Geo. In fact, the Neo-Geo was more similar to the Megadrive in the way it made sound. =)
Whenever you get the chance to read this (I'am hoping this is not too much to ask) I was wondering if you could tell me whether that website has some sort of section that lists the comparsions between a Japanese game and it's U.S. release?
In the version i played the ground wasn't a grass spot it was a black hole you drop into. Is this the no suggestive themes version or something? It pretty much conveyed the spirit of the game when you when toward the black hole in the ground, it didn't leave much to your imagination...
wow...born in 1990 and i never even heard of this game.I was spoiled on the simpler ones...looks like a crossover clone with Castlevania,Xevious, and Sim City as its ingredients all blended together.
Everything about this whole game is excellent.
>Was in the middle of drawing a centaur for a project

I... guess I should get back to work.
One of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Absolutely legendary. Thanks for posting this.

seeing this takes me way back. stuff my dreams were made of. thank u for posting
Nostalgia.
yes
this game brings me memories. I enjoyed the town building aspect more then the actual action
Ah, haven't seen this game in ages. Nothing but fond memories playing this.
I enjoyed this game so much when it came out, and for years to follow.
THIS GAME IS EPIC!
SoulforReal88 Indeed!

Fillmore, the title screen and the song from the town construction. But Fillmore is a masterpiece and indeed, one of the most awesome bgm of all time.
I like the addition of the c major chord in the beginning in very typical Bach resolution style, as the c major chord was considered by him to be "God's chord".
Hell so much of this sound track is very heavily Bach inspired I feel.
It's an awful day in Fillmore, and you're a wonderful god.
one of the greatest Koshiro's work
My, that zoom in STILL gets me to this day, 17 years later. Crazy!
I searched for the song "Fillmoa" by the master of songship Yuzo Koshiro, as played through in the video game it was supposedly written for, and truly I did find it. It's not the promised land, but I guess I'm glad I found a semblance of the thing promised.

I remember playing this as a kid years upon years ago, so many hours spent...
It's really a shame no game has ever been made like this since. Such an awesome soundtrack too. The Actraiser Symphony is one of the best orchestral remasterings of a video game soundtrack ever.
This feels like Castlevania but not in every way, and I love it so much for that.
The best game for the Super Nintendo when it first came it. This was the first game I ever rented too...pure awesome.
One of the best songs on the SNES to date
Yeah this game was fantastic. One of my all time favorites everything about it mainly just feels right.
To all the older people out there (late 20's early 30's) remember how this game pioneered the sound in video games in home consoles? The game won awards for it realistic soundtrack...a 16-bit system producing music that sounded like an actual symphony orchestra. it's so awesome how it's like God in the form of a little orb thing just moving through a statue that has a sword... very creative...
Perfect music
The game is awesome. I love how it combines Castlevania, Zelda 2 and Sim City all in one package.
this is the greatest video game ever, i'm not going to lie
This was one of my favorite SNES games. At the time, the soundtrack for this game was cutting edge technology. I remember the big deal they made about it. It did sound like a real orchestra playing, that was a big deal for a 16-bit system.
I absolutely love the music! Wish I'd found out about this earlier though.
Never too late!
This game is still fun to play!! Great memories
Fillmore and the title screen from this game are easily two of the best video game BGMs of all time.
@ShiryuGL
The DS has like a 2X SPC700 audio core with 16 ADPCM channel instead of the SNES's 8.
Can't say i was quite old enough to play this game when it came out (2) =/
Ah i loved Yuzo Koshiro's work on the early Ys games great OST's
I just bought a wii u . i wish i could get 2.
That's right!- I forgot about the TV tuner, yea, that was pretty cool. I do however remember the battery life. I owned a Gameboy prior to owning the Game Gear, and the difference in playing time was unbelieveable.

I think it is about time we got Actraiser 3
I wish I had been the age I am now, only twenty years ago. Making games onthe SNES must've been a lot of fun. :)
@sirfadil21 _ the name of this game that you search is final fight....
Omg I finally found it after looking for it an hour! Child hood
I remember how gorgeous the Egypt and tropical level were.
create chaos from order :D :D :D ;) well very good job dude!
Best game for me all time! Plus best music!!
Here is a good one for you ! I have been trying to remember the name of this game for ohhh probably 3 years ! Merry Christmas by the way! ^-^

I have a question for you by the way ^ ^
Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
Helloz World Merry Xmas!

Yes, I am a good person. Sometimes painfully so. Life would be much easier if I was a lousy scumbag but that was not my way.
ShiryuGL May I test you to see if you are a good person? I will ask you a few questions
^-^
If you must., go ahead.

I saw this game in my list of roms and thought i'd give it a shot. I had NO idea what to do so i googled the game and saw this vid and didn't know about having the palace over those circles. Anyways it's a really interest and good game.
man i love this game
@ActRaiserProject2012 If you need music, let me know (search for "Shiryu Actraiser Suite")
Uno de los mejores juegos que he conocido :3 Es original, de buena trama y nunca te aburre.
I remember playing this game so long ago! I used to love it! But looking back at it now, I barely remember anything.. =P
OMGOMG I was looking for this game, ahhhhh I am so tempted to find this on emulator.
I loved all the actrazor games ...thier still my favorite! the best game music too!
This game won awards for it's sountrack- boasting Snes's unparalelled sony music chip in the hardware. This music was the best a home system could do at the time, and it still actually sounds good. The second level sounded like a real orchestra playing... and not some cheesy 8 bit sounding music
agreed

Man i love actraiser music is has a cool sting to it :D
That would be really cool and he would probably be super overpowered in relation to the rest of the cast.
You will definitely love it.
"Oh, I sense I have guided you to your first steps on a path of enlightment..."
Indeed you have. I'am not very computer literate however I've yearned for english translated Japanese titles all my life.
back in the day when i was young i thought those blue enemy lookin things are "Beast" from xmen. since you know, i also watched xmen animated series on Fox Kids channel 11.
i agree wholeheartedly.
SNES master race of gaming
This game looks fun!
need to bring this series back and put it on the nintendo wii
I bought the super famicom for this game and FF4.
In Koshiro's work, Fillmore is especially awesome!
Ahh a classic!
Did anyone know they almost remade the original ActRaiser for SEGA Saturn? But it turned into something else. Damn that would of been beautiful.
ころさん。。。
@NielsShoe SNES SCp700 had 8 channels, nt 7. Sounsd where generated differently on the SNES and the Neo-Geo.
In fact, the Neo-Geo was more similar to the Megadrive in the way it made sound. =)
This will always be the BEST BIBLE GAME EVER MADE!!!!
GREAT song
is actraiser 1 or 2 better?
the avatar of the master looks so badass, I wish someone would make an oblivion mod with that armor
Whenever you get the chance to read this (I'am hoping this is not too much to ask) I was wondering if you could tell me whether that website has some sort of section that lists the comparsions between a Japanese game and it's U.S. release?
I want to get this on the VC but just a quick question: is there any difference between the music in the Jpn version and the US version?
Is he ziplining? That looks a lot of fun!
2:10 if you from Extra credit and Azazlam there you go, no need to thank me
No way. The game was great because it had both side scrolling action and the civilization building. Awesome game.
That scary tree always reminds me of the movie Poltergeist.
Prequel. Actraiser 2 takes place before the first game chronologically. And agreed; Actraiser is much for fun than 2.
In the version i played the ground wasn't a grass spot it was a black hole you drop into. Is this the no suggestive themes version or something? It pretty much conveyed the spirit of the game when you when toward the black hole in the ground, it didn't leave much to your imagination...
jrag1000 I think you are confusing scenes. In this level it's just a grass patch , but cavern levels you indeed land on caves.
Mmm great game. Just bought it the other day :D
Its been...great :D
I love this game. I was sad when I beat it because there was no more stuff to unravel... if that made any sense.
this has Illusion of Gaia sfx, thats tripping me out! I didn't know they had the same developer.
Yes indeed, Quintet games all share the same instruments and sound FX.
wow...born in 1990 and i never even heard of this game.I was spoiled on the simpler ones...looks like a crossover clone with Castlevania,Xevious, and Sim City as its ingredients all blended together.
You're in for a treat since "ActRaiser" is quite a unique experience. The soundtrack alone make it a cut above the rest.
You definitely should try this game!!
this game is baller as hell
sweet music
@izlude2 As long as they hold to Tri-ace, they are safe from total crapness...
