You must try to make sorghum beer. Its low alcohol but very nutritional. Also we used to have maltabella.(brand name) In south Africa where it's the porridge. This is the biggest antidote to Monsanto and gm crops
I'm glad to see you married a good person are really smart because he definitely married up but thank you for bringing the life of a farmer that has been blessed. I will never afford this kind of equipment. You show good intelligence of the actual crop.
Your crop is so beautiful! If you let it go to seed after the second cutting, you will never have to plant that field again! Every year in the Springtime you will just have sorghum popping up everywhere!
You guys have sheep too, right , and cattle, love it your name came up some in Meredith and Lawrence’s this farm wife this week , Meredith is maybe a new subscriber, I told her acres of clay was sheep, right, and cow’s, kool thanks y’all BigAl California.
Hmmm. I didn't notice them saying anything about us?? I do watch her channel when I have time. And, no, we don't have sheep anymore. Sold them awhile back. 😔
Acres of Clay Homestead oh ok I thought you guys had sheep , I must’ve missed the vlog of the sale, lolol that’s is possible, I miss some of them , being busy, thanks y’all BigAl California.
Another great video Rhonda . I don’t want to tell anyone what to do but I’ve been a mechanic at a Deere dealer for 41 years and it sounded like the engine was still running on the discbine while Kevin was cleaning the mud off the cutter head . Don’t ever trust the electric or hydraulics on a running machine .
It's definitely something we need to work on. It's just so easy to jump out and see what the problem is before even thinking about shutting the equipment off. Thanks for the reminder. 😊
Yeah, I get in hurry sometimes also and don’t always shut my tractor off (I obviously shut my PTO off) when I work on my mower. After I finish, I’m always like, I should’ve turned my tractor off.
I see Kevin is like me. Today is the first day of a clean shirt. Tomorrow it will be inside out. Two days one shirt. Less laundry to do. See how considerate we both are. Keep up the great work family.
Glad to see that I'm not the only that gets a mouthfull of dirt in the haybine. I've been cutting peas and oats the past few weeks and have had to unplug quite a few times.
Thank you'll so much for believing in jesus he already starting to pour out his blessings on believers hang in there it's coming just a old hillbilly from arkansas
In my experience with disc cutters the sap from the plant mixed with dust or mud would build up in the rock guards, so I would carry a 4 inch scraper and clean them every day or more often. It made a big difference in cut and speed. 👍
Ronda, the sweatshirts are a great idea, Although you would go broke trying to get one that fits me because I am a Big Guy and I usually take a 4 or 5 X size shirt. HA HA HA
Glad your crops look good, my brothers Dairy farm having the worst drought ever in central MA.1st cutting down 40% and 2nd cutting down 75%.His notill corn didn't have enough moisture to pop up and was a complete loss.He drilled in some sudan grass instead and hopes to do Baleage later in this season.
Rhonda i know he buy in some corn silage from a custom harvest operation in CT from there 2019 crop. This yr has been the worst he,s ever seen.Small storm cells have either dodged to the North or the south of him.Been a bad yr for him his JD 2555 he,s had over 30 yrs now with 15,000 hrs on it pto clutch pack got weak from trying to power his mixing wagon. He was forced to trade it out and found an equivalent 2755 with only 4,000 hrs on it little more hp.
Oh man I have been there when it comes to patching rusty air tanks. If you’re looking to replace them let me know I have a really good catalog with aftermarket truck parts. I’ve gotten some of those air tanks for under $100 believe it or not. Some of them have the wet tank and the primary air tank all in the same enclosure, those are a little bit more pricey but still cheaper than going to the dealer especially on a truck that you don’t run every single day.
Luckily the cutting machine didn't develop a lasting issue, that would have set you back . It cuts well and does a awesome job. Almost wish I had one of those to cut 3 acres of standard old field grass . I guess it could cut standard field grass. I am using a John Deere Zero Turn with grass as high as waist, set on highest setting. Temperature in Southern Louisiana 100 degrees (115) heat index. Cut from 5pm until it gets getting dark. 2 - 2 1/2 hours depending how many times I have to stop to clean out mower chute with flap tied in up position. Really could use tractor with bush-hog to speed up the cut. Rhonda, would you please ask Kevin what is a ideal used tractor (hours) to purchase. A base (hour)number to gauge when looking for used tractor. Guess it also depends how tractor was taken care of.
We have to mow the crop down so it can dry out for a few days. Chopping it right away would not make for good feed. It would be way too wet and the cows could get sick from eating a fermented foods so high in moisture. Hope that makes sense...
I know this is old video but it just popped up so I thought well I haven't seen this in so I'll just watch it how do you know what sir saham is I've never heard of it
"A sea of sorghum".... Think I would invest in a couple new air tanks for the Freightliner. When they get that bad they will continue to have pin hole leaks.
This lifestyle is so peaceful and fulfilling.
You must try to make sorghum beer.
Its low alcohol but very nutritional.

Just like what Meredith Bernard says, "team work makes the dream work".
She also says Y'all too
Those frustrating moments, I am always reminded why I am in constant need of grace!
I love our american farmers. Real heroes.
Good lord!! Even Kevin has a green thumb. That's some quick growth there. Gonna be some happy cows very soon.

Your crop is so beautiful! If you let it go to seed after the second cutting, you will never have to plant that field again! Every year in the Springtime you will just have sorghum popping up everywhere!
Wow! Nice small stem and high leaf volume, great hay at 45#/acre. We target 18 to 22 lb/acre West Texas dry land.
You guys have sheep too, right , and cattle, love it your name came up some in Meredith and Lawrence’s this farm wife this week , Meredith is maybe a new subscriber, I told her acres of clay was sheep, right, and cow’s, kool thanks y’all BigAl California.

That was a good looking stand, looked nice and thick, made good looking silage
It's amazing how much it grew in 35 days
Yes,don't want dirt in the feed. Keep the dirt in the field. I totally agree 👍 I think I'm ready to become a famer now.
Awesome!! What type of farming do you want to do?

Glad to see that I'm not the only that gets a mouthfull of dirt in the haybine. I've been cutting peas and oats the past few weeks and have had to unplug quite a few times.

Great video!!!
PRETTY JOB GOOD WORKER GOODLUCK
hey thanks for sharing ...
Good work y'all! 🌽
G'day from Australia !
That was pretty much of crop, especially for that short time, good that you got everything working out though:)
Wow, did that ever grow fast. I remember my Dad growing it when I was young, made for good feed !!
In my experience with disc cutters the sap from the plant mixed with dust or mud would build up in the rock guards, so I would carry a 4 inch scraper and clean them every day or more often. It made a big difference in cut and speed. 👍
Super Video 👍
What state are you in ? I in Missouri , just love looking and watching your. Show
We are in Michigan. 😊
Hi Ronda if you get sweatshirts in your store we would love to get one from you, love watching your videos! Have a great day!
You know you're in the country when there are stop signs on dirt roads. I haven't seen this in Kentucky!
Scares me every time I see You all working on cutters and augers with the motor still running. Please be safe and take care. God bless you.
We need to remember to be more safe...
Ronda, the sweatshirts are a great idea,
Although you would go broke trying to get one that fits me because I am a Big Guy and I usually take a 4 or 5 X size shirt. HA HA HA
You'd have to order from the big and tall section. 😊
@@acresofclayhomestead lol yes I would
That is some thriving growth of Sorghum, so late in the year.
Do ye spread artificial manure when sowing the seed?
Yes, we did.
always love a equipment ride along. Sadly I do not wear ball caps, wool or wide brimmed( tilley type) for me.
Good job
Good video wondering why you do sorghum is it just a better fit than corn silage/more yield/less risk / less time?
We usually plant sorghum where we do double cropping.
Great channel , I love your videos!
Thank you!
Pullover hoodies or zip up are great.
Hello from down the road in Dorr:))
Hello neighbor!! 😏😉
Keep a old ice scraper in the chopper it should help with the mud removal?
we love sorghum :))
Great video! Subscribed!
Welcome to our channel!!
some times you just have to patch things up and keep moving forward, but I am sure Kevin ordered a new tank to replace that one.
Have a great day today
Good Day Family. Love The Gorgeous Eyes Rhonda. Can’t Stop Staring at them. A Great Family.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh wow!! Will he have enough feed to go thru the year? Hopefully they get some rain soon!
That's tough, especially since the price of milk has tanked ever since this virus crap.
awesome Sorghum harvesting ❤️ but i couldn't see Sorghum grains in plants #
On the back of the chopper there is an arm swinging around. What is that for?

Can you bale it into round plastic bales or is it too hard for plastic wrap>
if I had to guess that dirt was from a groundhog burrow.
Very cute couple❤️👍🇨🇦
wow great

Must'a hit some sort of critter mound.
Question , so why use the haybine first and not just use the chopper first
We have to mow the crop down so it can dry out for a few days. Chopping it right away would not make for good feed. It would be way too wet and the cows could get sick from eating a fermented foods so high in moisture. Hope that makes sense...
Are those haybines better than the pull type
What variety was that? Turned out nice
Great video. I couldn't find the link to your hats and I really want one.
It's in the description part of all my videos. I'll try and send you a link....

Interested in sweatshirts if they are made in the U.S. Where are the caps made?
I know this is old video but it just popped up so I thought well I haven't seen this in so I'll just watch it how do you know what sir saham is I've never heard of it
GD morning Rhonda and family I was just wondering how often you have too sharpen ur blades
Technically those knives don't ever need to be sharpened. But... When mowing grass we like to sharpen them a bit.
GD morning hope you have a great Sunday a day of rest thank you for your reply about your cutter
How long do wait from cutting the crop to chopping it for silage
We waited a couple days.
"A sea of sorghum".... Think I would invest in a couple new air tanks for the Freightliner. When they get that bad they will continue to have pin hole leaks.
love your video
Yes following you and Like Your videos 😇🐄🐄😊❤️
