Which is weird because playing early 2000 style trance 20-25% faster isn't a genre.
You could literally find any trance compilations from then and play it at 1.25x speed and you would have a back catalogue of a genre that doesn't exist.
@@SlainByTheWire what's weird is you thinking i give af about your hipster ass conclusions. i never had heard the term sextrance before, but it's a way of finding these sorts of playlists so it's cool. but you're probably the sort of person who wastes their time in other comment sections arguing about EDM genres like it matters. as a musician myself, i just like what i like and people can call it whatever they want and argue over terms if they want. you'd be better off learning how to make music, rather than arguing semantics about a type of entertainment that has nothing to do with language anyway yk? anyway, do try and enjoy your day despite the stick up your ass:D
@@SlainByTheWire PS you could say the same thing about nightcore but imo that still qualifies as a genre despite the fact that it, also, is primarily sped-up versions of this or that. but it all still sounds cool af, so yeah i literally will never understand people who spend their time picking apart genres and their names lol. just SO not who i am, at all.
@@SlainByTheWire you're not wrong but we hate your kind because all the word "sextrance" is being used for is to categorize this type of music, and make life easier.
If we would call it Trance sped up 25% it would make things more difficult.
@SlainByTheWire I disagree because sextrance pretty much is a genre and a subgenre of trance. It has its technical specifications which differ from regular trance sound (fast tempo, just like in freeform hardcore and distorted "lofi sounding" instruments giving it that specific feeling). That means it theoretically isn't limited to being just edits of other songs (unlike nightcore which requires to be a pitched and sped up edit of an already existing track of any existing genre. which in my opinion doesn't really feel like genre at all. more like some kinda way of remixing/editing) and practically it really isn't as there surely are many artists doing they original sextrance stuff

Is it supposed to be su stupidity distorted? Sounds awful.
I think it's supposed to be that way. It's framed as an aesthetic, but I think it also serves a bit of a hidden purpose. Those all edits of regular trance tracks and those have a different, softer tembre. Right next to speeding them up, distorting them changes that tembre into a more intense and aggresive one, reminiscent of those genres with "hard" in their names, like hardtek.
@@MRL8770 close to what you said, however when speeding up these tracks too much high quality noise is added in, especially when trying to mix together, making it sound too jarring and chaotic. bitcrushing/distorting + a compressor, reverb, and limiter help muddle all the extra noise together into one controllable sound that is then softened and muted. IMO just speeding up the trance and trying to put a compressor and some EQ on it loses the mellowness of the genre, the distortion brings some of that mid warmth back in.
more, we need more this mixes!
