      Sometimes as Black folks we have to come up through the corporate structure to make an impact for Black folks.
      It will take a longer time to have to help them though rather than the way Dr. Umar is creating an immediate impact once the school is opened.
      Each way, Dione's or Umar's are both noble and neither should be criticized negatively. Yuh 💯

    • @dougedoug2105
      @dougedoug2105 9 місяців тому +21

      He wasn’t, plain and simple. Because he’s committed to flaw finding and defending his flawed indoctrinated belief system. I on a personal level felt as though his body language and overall disposition towards Dr. Umar was disrespectful. It’s almost as if he himself, a black man, needed to be convinced that another black should be worthy of his respect, and not solely on the basis of him being his brother by race. That’s a problem because he wouldn’t have done that to a white man.
      It’s like two identical homes, both brand new construction, but one being built in a predominantly white neighborhood and the other being built in the predominantly black one. And with all other things being constant, the one in the black neighborhood being sold at a cheaper price. It implies that there’s a notion of the black one being inherently less valuable even though the white one was never appraised.
      So yes I’m asking you for tangible evidence of your accomplishments and credentials. But what I’m really asking you is: Tell me who are the notable white people who say that I should believe what you’re saying is to be true, or who give me permission to believe what you say to me to be true over them and what they tell me to do. He’s not a free thinker and that’s what’s so problematic and it’s what’s been done to him by design.
      Men like that although well intentioned are not good for the race. Because they go out of their way to defend white people and their racist belief system by behaving hostily towards and going out of their way to discredit other blacks; That’s a violation. People of other races uphold & support one another more often than not solely on the basis of race, and they remain ahead. Blacks refuse to do this, yet we forever remain behind. That’s a problem.

      Well when did Deion EVER say he went to Jackson to be a savior, start a fire under hbcu? He said he wanted to coach and mold young men into responsible, God fearing adults and maybe help turn out a pro athlete. While I agree with setting the stage and turning our black athletes to HBCUs and them helping each other, the issue is the opportunity for exposure. Most of the gyms, weight rooms, fields and equipment are all subpar. So the up and coming athletes want the bigger stages, and the state of the art equipment that comes with it bc they're already set up for success. But it doesn't have to stop with Deion. Why can't MJ take NC Wilmington basketball from here? Why can't Barry Bonds go take Grambling baseball. Ok Dr Umar, you're disappointed Sanders didn't haytye same drive as you,BUT what he did for J State should not be discounted. And I also advise you to listen about how Jackson treated him and the lies they told and the money they promised and his home and office that was burglarized. You ever think that maybe just maybe those also played into this decision

    • @Celebscandal
      @Celebscandal 10 місяців тому +23

      @@Fdg1105 I am not gonna lie. You are making a lot of great points. What I got from Dr Umar was, he's trying to make a point about how most successful blacks are only for themselves. Yes he's disappointed in Deon because it was probably a missed opportunity to take J State to the next level. But forget about Deon and think about other successful blacks (Jay-Z, MJ,Robert Smith, Oprah etc. ) who are not doing anything to implement a system that could help black kids. That's what he's referring to.

      That’s BS. Dr. Umar has received MILLIONS in donations for that school. He has been “close to opening” for the past 7 years. Just because he’s good at speaking doesn’t mean what he’s saying is true. He’s talking about helping black families whose children are being expelled from school and how much he’s for black people, but what he left out is that he charges those families for a consultation to LOOK at the report cards, progress reports and school recommendations with no resolutions to the issue. He’s talking about what Deion had the ability to do and him leaving JSU but Dr. Umar does not have any degrees from an HBCU. He said Deion wanted to prove to white people that he can coach white kids but the Colorado football team is 98% black students and his coaching staff is 98% black. We always talk about the lack of black coaches at the professional and collegiate levels but when one is given the opportunity we expect them to turn it down. Would you turn down a $5 million a year offer? Let’s be honest. JSU wasn’t even honoring the contract with Deion and let’s not talk about how black people were stealing his belongings out of his office. He brought attention to HBCU’s, funding and games are still being broadcasted on major networks. He did his part. It’s not his responsibility to save every HBCU in the country. Dr. Umar is full of 💩!

      For someone who says he's about the black cause, he sure has lots of criticism for his brothers and sisters on the path they chose to accomplish their goals. Sounds like he's hating on Deion because he chose a different path to achieve his goals of teaching, coaching, and developing his kids. Once the issues with the funding irregularities at JSU became known, he had to leave. He stayed focused on Deion going to a white school when he should thank him for laying the blueprint for others to follow at HBCU sports. Umar himself would have left for Colorado if he was in the same situation. Umar is a clown and just uses platforms like this to point fingers when he himself has well documented challenges regarding fundraising for his school. This is the reason why our black community doesn't support him financially. I have proudly donated to several HBCUs and related programs for years. I will never give Umar a single cent. I am well connected and will encourage my networks to do the same. Umar is a Dr. John Henrik Clarke wannabe.

    I agree with the doctor .I am a white Republican came from welfare with a single mom.. and I do notice a lot of Black people they become successful, and instead of helping the black community, they show off the money and move to a white community . And he’s 100% about Dion..Dion is only looking out for his kids and himself and family now that is OK. He just not one of those people that look after black kids. And the doctor is correct. If he would’ve stayed, he would’ve been known as one of the greatest Black people to make a change to the community and for black kids.. he just another rich black person that’s leaving the black folks behind.

    This host is the perfect explanation for why the Black community is in the position it's in. TOO MANY of our Males aren't Men. They act like women. He's so stuck on Deion, who's already richer than most people on the planet, getting more money for himself, that he can't see that as MEN we need to work on building our community. He's comparing Umar having a place to live to wealthy Deion taking a small pay cut. And he can't see the difference because he obviously values money and material possessions over the lives of suffering Black people. TOO many of us worship money and it's destroying us.

    In my opinion, Deion is one person. Deion did a lot for JSU. He can't cure all of the hbcu's problems alone. Deion I believe even tried to get an investigation going to discover why the funds of JSU were being incorrectly allocated that would expose the top black people who are successful to be a few and working to be the few to keep the majority from being successful. Some people that blame Deion for leaving want all the pressure on him to do something impossible by himself because it takes pressure off of more people to step up and do something possible that'll really impact and really become change for the majority.

    • @BoosterGoldEarth6

      See this where the outrage towards DEION originate from. People being gullible and just accepting baseless allegations from Deion.
      1. Nobody asked him to fix all Hbcus. He willingly volunteered and used that as his main slogan to brand build while at JSU. "I'm coming to level the playing field for Hbcus" Dude even attack Crowder and a FAMU player who transferred out for dissing HBCUS. Going to Jackson city hall and holding political rallies and all of that.
      2. Nobody was stealing dudes from Deion. Mr. Must be the money wouldn't dare let anyone play with his bread without getting his legal team involved.
      When Deion mentioned the funds missing. He referring to the 🏈 revenue being used for all athletics. He wanted to reap all the benefits. Which is not how college works bc of Title9. Every college does the same thing. Yes 🏈 ⚾ 🏀 pays for non revenue sports. He wouldn't dare tell Colorado to do different.

    Let's be honest, Deion's primary focus was on himself and self-promotion, rather than his son. He had the option to send his son to any school and provide assistance from the sidelines. If his son possesses any talent, either inherited or developed, he will have opportunities in the NFL. It's undeniable that a bit of nepotism can be advantageous. Deion understands that his ultimate goal is to return to the NFL, and he "utilized" HBCUs as a stepping stone for his coaching career, aiming to enhance his resume. He claimed to have transformed underperforming schools into winners, implying that he could lead a team to the Super Bowl if given the opportunity. Perhaps he also desires to be able to say that he coached his son from a young age all the way to the NFL, winning championships together. While all of this is acceptable, it's important not to deceive by suggesting that God sent him to help HBCUs. It was never about assisting them; he knew that his reputation would grant him anything he desired from black colleges. I would have no objections to his actions if he hadn't made it a racial issue, proclaiming that God sent him to aid HBCUs. He used them as a means to achieve his own goals and, therefore, needed excuses to leave. "Oh, I had to cut the field" or "No sponsors would have ever supported them" and so on. My dear sir, you unquestionably used them to attain what you wanted, plain and simple. Your actions shouldn’t have a place in our history, let's not distort the truth with our on biasis.

    Much like this conversation, Dr. Umar is significantly better prepared for these conversations than most people. He's building a school, and the stats will matter once that school is up and running.

      @deeznutz8320 I work in real estate. His story is not only plausible, it's likely. Too many people listen to Bigger Pockets podcasts and misunderstand how the fine details of real estate work, most offers arent accepted, and owners tend to overvalue their homes. So buying a school, with is in the commercial real estate space, is incredibly hard, and there are more hopps to jump through to finalize the sale. And his black power persona rubs a lot of people the wrong way to where they won't sell to him. And he only spent 2 mill. In my entire MLS there are 3 places available under 2 million... and unless you have a 6 figure renovation budget, none are worth your time.

    The interviewer gets emotional and wants to be combative but seriously lacks the informed information to be effective. He should watch this interview numerous times because he keeps moving the goal post and cannot effectively challenge ANYTHING that he was against that Dr Umar spoke on…..😮

    Loon makes a point that you have to play the game to get to a level where you can “share the wealth”. Dr. Umar also makes a great point that we don’t need to always tap dance to the white system to get where we want to go. There is a level of fear in our community to try things for ourselves.

    • @Ginger_Spicy_Candor
      @Ginger_Spicy_Candor 11 місяців тому +11

      that's ridiculous. Wealth comes in many forms and Deion had experience and knowledge and that right there is wealth he could have shared at JSU. People are really stuck on Deion instead of really seeing the point being made by Dr. Umar. Black people are on the bottom because they refuse to think beyond themselves. Period. Every other race is out there pushing for the race. When I go to a Chinese festival, I see wealth management booths, books, and science club sign ups. When I go to a Black festival, I see food trucks, a bunch of random rap music merch and dancing, and a solopreneur trying to fleece people to buy their homemade product. Not always the case but generally, happens often. Stop being selfish if you want blacks to do better. that's the message. Loon didn't want to receive that.

      @@Ginger_Spicy_Candor I agree with you. Loons solution will never work, because refuses to cut the umbilical cord and be self reliant. Systemic racism has lead us to believe that success can only be achieved by walking the line and having a individualistic mindset. It reminds me of the story of Prometheus, where he wants to steal fire from the gods and bring it to the people, but it isn’t necessary because we as a people have all the tools to create our own fire.

      Love this show, and definitely open my eyes even the more. We as black people need to be together more as other nations have shown,not just in a tragic situation and we definitely should show each other grace and mercy while supporting one another especially in the black community. My dream is to see a collaboration of wealthy black people all over the u.s that would make a difference in the black communities,lets own that at least. God opposed the proud 🙏 but gives grace to the humble 🙏

      @@Ginger_Spicy_Candorno we are at the bottom because there is lack of accountability in black communities. We let any and everybody that talks with a silver tongue pimp us and sell us dreams. JSU was stealing money from deon, and somehow ppl still feel entitled to HIS journey. Deon was for the ppl, but the ppl stole from him. Once that trust is broken, it rarely ever gets repaired. Nobody wants to talk about the real issues, like HBCUs having a history of mishandling funds. So ironic umar mentioned he tried to buy my school, saint paul’s college, which was shut down due to the staff stealing money. there is no accountability, and the false prophets and scammers makes it even harder for us. Umar is a hypocrite, because he is all for self.
