The raised index finger by the umpire means “you’re out”. The Wicketkeeper is the only fielding player who wears gloves. The long run up by the bowler (Pat Cummins) is characteristic of a fast bowler. Fast bowlers use the speed of the run up to add speed and power to the delivery. That ball would have been bowled in excess of 90MPH. That’s also why the wicketkeepers wear gloves and stand so far back behind the stumps - so they have time to see the ball and be able to catch it (without injury from the repeated catching when the batsmen keep missing the ball because of the speed of the bowling).
You're on the pitch for hours at a time the sun will block your vision at someppint and there is nothing worse than fielding a cricket ball with the sun in your eyes.
The wicket keeper wears two sets of gloves, inner and outer. The inners are leather, wet, to help absorb some of the impact of the ball hitting the hands. By the end of a days play a wicketkeepers hands are red raw.
If there's a best run outs video, I would suggest that. There's an amazing run out by Jonty Rhodes in a world cup. It was so phenomenal, South Africa minted R5 coins to commemorate it.
The hands if on the handle of the bat are considered part of it so if the ball is deflected off the hand and caught you are out. The guy behind the stumps (3 sticks) is the only one allowed gloves. He catches the miss balls from the bowler so is afforded some protection as it would wreck your hands over the years. As it is the "wicketkeepers" hands are real gnarly already.
If you really want to blow your mind, find the list of possible fielding positions, which have peculiar traditional names, such as Silly Mid-off and Cover Point...
A few Aussie ones were omitted somehow. The Glen McGrath one in Adelaide off Shane Warne. And the David Boon catch for Shane Warne's hat-trick were both unbelievable. This might be an English channel. But you might want to find those for some REAL good catches. That one that you thought wasn't hit by the batter, actually was.
Cricket was played in early America, but didn't catch on. It is a game much enjoyed by Nations which play it. Tests go for five days, and can end in a draw! One day, and twenty over matches are easier to appreciate. Try watching a T20 match or its highlights.
Hey Ryan, you got to react to the cricket video called Cricket explained for Baseball fans by UA-camr Sports Explained. This video will also explain how to play cricket, this video also explains about the scoring points system and so on. You got to watch this video and it will clear any questions and confusion you have about the game. Trust me, you won't regret it
Think of a catch like an NFL catch. They have to have control and even after hitting the ground. Then once theyre 'downed' they can do what they want with the ball and it doesnt matter. They wear the wide brimmed hats in test cricket (white clothing) because theyre in the sun for 6 hours in a day, 5 days in a row.
Those catches rankings based on votes by users , so it's not technically the top catches and one more thing these catches are by ECB(England cricket board). So matches against England catches are shown .
Let me explain you the scorecard suppose, Aus 160-3(18.2) maxwell 50*(35) & stoines 13*(7) Australia scored 160 runs, 3 of the player are bing Out. They played (18.2) over. 6 balls = 1 over. they played 18 over and 2 balls. which means they played 110 balls, 10 ball still remaining as A Team can play 20 over per side/innings. player: maxwell scored 50 by playing 35 balls/pitch. stoines scored 13 runs by playing 7 balls/pitch.
Love that you're into cricket now too lol. You should watch a few 20/20 games as they are quick and exciting. One team have 2 batsmen and the other team field. They bowl 6 balls per over....that pitch is about 25 metres long... the fielder only have to catch the ball before it hits the ground or goes over the outer lines...once the ball it caught the batsman is out...and another member of his team will come in to bat next. they have 11 players each.
this was a Pommy cricket 'best of'.. look up Shane Warne, the best spin bowler in cricket history, sadly died recently. Also, did you know, America usec to be big players and fans of cricket? The reason America dropped cricket and concentrated in baseball was because of the Poms, who refused to allow the US to participate 8n the international competitions, the Tests. So, the USA understandably packed up their kit! America is starting up again actually, so expect to see some comps set up And lastly, the Las Vegas Cricket Club has played US competition cricket for years! Cricket first started in 1709 in America! It really decli ed in 1909 when the Imperial Cricket Conference decided only Commonwealth nations like Oz, South Africa, India etc could play... so America was pushed out. But, America played the first international cricket match with Canada in 1844 and England played its first international match against America in 1859. I suspect the Americans were starting to thump the Poms at cricket was the real reason! So America was playing cricket before baseball, and before Australia was even discovered by Captain Cook in 1770... So how about them apples?
Yup dude🤣🤣 I'm a srilankan but truly frustrated about the Indians man😵😵😵 they act like only they know/play cricket🙂 Just go and watch any video on cricket, there'll be an indian putting their players in the comment section. Okus don't forget how much sarah taylor was scolded just because she chose Kumar Sangakkara as her favourite WK over MSD🤣🤣
You got the right attitude dude, no heavy pushing of the 'like and subscribe' mantra. Just for that, I will.

@Osama bin Laden Yes.
@@DeepThought9999this is so weird with no context lol
These are only the catches of matches played in England in recent times.
Score of 164-8 (example), means the team batting has scored 164 runs with 8 batsmen retired/out.
These are ONLY catches in matches being played in England, UK ... not worldwide list
You're on the pitch for hours at a time the sun will block your vision at someppint and there is nothing worse than fielding a cricket ball with the sun in your eyes.
These are the catches taken by only in England in recenet years not all time best cricket catches
Good catches win mstches. And yes, the gloves are part of the bat.
C'mon Aussie, c'mon. 🇦🇺
Thanks, yes more cricket!! 👍😁🌟👍
The wicket keeper wears two sets of gloves, inner and outer. The inners are leather, wet, to help absorb some of the impact of the ball hitting the hands. By the end of a days play a wicketkeepers hands are red raw.

Scoring: nnn-x (first number is number of runs scored. second number is number of wickets lost).
The hands if on the handle of the bat are considered part of it so if the ball is deflected off the hand and caught you are out. The guy behind the stumps (3 sticks) is the only one allowed gloves. Dude with gloves is the wicket keeper just like the catcher in baseball
Glasses 🕶️ are not necessary but become very important part of the cricket. Sometimes it's very hard to catch the high catch due to sunlight.
They also amplify the light in poor conditions. I couldn't believe how different everything looks in fielding glasses.
Just to confuse things, in Australia we score it 8 wickets for 163 runs, rather that the other way round in the UK.
American Basketball adopted the Cricket sign for maximum - both hands raised.
the only ones wearing gloves are the wicket keeper and the batsmen.
Catch#4 is world's greatest catch ever for me..Paul Collingwood
If you really want to blow your mind, find the list of possible fielding positions, which have peculiar traditional names, such as Silly Mid-off and Cover Point...
The umpire is showing gratitude to his dead mom living up in the heaven..😁😁😂🤣😎
The umpire Signal raising the finger means “ out”
Adam Gilchrist (Gilly)😍😍😍
A few Aussie ones were omitted somehow. The Glen McGrath one in Adelaide off Shane Warne. And the David Boon catch for Shane Warne's hat-trick were both unbelievable. This might be an English channel. But you might want to find those for some REAL good catches.
That one that you thought wasn't hit by the batter, actually was.
Yeah this was just the top 40 that the English were allowed to upload as the best (pretty sure they're all from an English pitch)
Everyone else puts runs before wickets like 163 / 5 Australia puts wickets before runs like 5 / 163
Only the Keeper ("Catcher" in AB) wears gloves.
You should watch Shane Warne doing spin bowling.
Yes that was women's cricket
The hand or gloves are considered part of the bat
Catch7, Sarah Taylor, at the time the best wicket keeper in the world, and note she never wore pads like other keepers.
She wears shin pads inside her trousers.
At ball speed of 90-100mph the ball comes very quickly to your hand . I had many bruises on my hand as a slips fielder
163 for 8, you need to 10 outs to end an innings. So Australia have scored 163 runs for the cost of 8 batsmen out out of 10.
The bat is also known as the "blade" because of its shape. Cricket batting is much different than AB.
When the fielder catches the ball on the full then the batsman is out.
The glove is considered part of the bat
Yes, some of the catches are from women's cricket.
Cricket was played in early America, but didn't catch on. It is a game much enjoyed by Nations which play it. Tests go for five days, and can end in a draw! One day, and twenty over matches are easier to appreciate. Try watching a T20 match or its highlights.
153 to 8 refers to the number of runs and the number of wickets lost. Once you lose 10 wickets, you're all out.
Yeah the last one doesn't deserve to be #1..
The dreaded finger = out.
we need him to react to warnie 😂
Other than the batsmen, the only other player to wear gloves is the wicketkeeper.
Mate, if you had sound on your videos you'd have 10 times as many views and subs!
the hand is considered the bat
The wicket keeper has two gloves.

the one with glove is wicket keeper has to catch ball all of the time not just catches to get batmen out
Every catch here is only made in England or Wales.
The title should say that
Why are we not hearing the commentary?
it just means out not one out , theres no strikes in cricket also
Those catches rankings based on votes by users , so it's not technically the top catches and one more thing these catches are by ECB(England cricket board). So matches against England catches are shown .
Yaa dhawan catch is no 1 because of biasness of indian fans but for me Maxwell catch was no 1
Let me explain you the scorecard
suppose,
Aus 160-3(18.2) maxwell 50*(35) & stoines 13*(7)
Australia scored 160 runs, 3 of the player are bing Out.
They played (18.2) over. 6 balls = 1 over. they played 18 over and 2 balls. which means they played 110 balls, 10 ball still remaining as A Team can play 20 over per side/innings.
player:
maxwell scored 50 by playing 35 balls/pitch.
stoines scored 13 runs by playing 7 balls/pitch.
And all without gloves except the wicket keeper

Agree that no. 1 wasn't the best catch.
React to pakistan v india final 2017 highlights champion tropy
These are best catches in England only not best ever in cricket
Only the wicket keeper wears gloves.
I also found these by Mark Waugh ("Junior")

Did you notice that some of the catches were women
this was a Pommy cricket 'best of'.. look up Shane Warne, the best spin bowler in cricket history, sadly died recently.
