So our boy Bartolomeo is called "The Cannibal". Thats because cannibal is the Japanese word for internet troll. So basically he's "Barto the Troll". Makes more sense thinking about him like that.
The Finnish localization of the manga pulled an _excellent_ trick with that. In Finnish, there's an expression "syö miestä", literally "[something] eats man", which is an idiom for that something tiring or frustrating someone (without specifying who is being frustrated by it, just that it does that to people). So the Finnish translator slipped in a mention that Barto is called the Cannibal because his behaviour "seriously eats man", i.e. really frustrates others. It's always fun when a translation opportunity like that lines up, and the translator takes it.
I'd like to point out that when Noland was mentioned back in Skypiea, they said one of his travels included visiting a tribe of little people. Now lo and behold, hundreds of chapters later, we finally see these little people. It's details like this that make me love OP so much.

Also Merphy: Pacifac-- Fake Paw-Paws Also Merphy: [unintelligible sounds trying to say Sabaody and/or Archipelago] Not-island Also Merphy, but later on: Pachycephalosaurus
Interesting bit about Sanji and Zoro: Right after the timeskip, Zoro and Sanji were fighting in the Thousand Sunny and Sanji said he would put Poison and Blades in his next food. Zoro dares Sanji to try it, stating that he wishes to know if he could chew through steel. Later on, in the next chapter, Zoro can be seen eating with the rest of the crew a bento, but he is the only one with a "crunch crunch" sound effect. After a fan noticed that, Oda confirmed that Yes indeed, Sanji made good on his promise to Zoro.

Also Merph, I don't remember where exactly but in one of your reviews, you misspoke when talking about Luffy and accidentally said Lucy. And I remember how the comment section was lol'ing at your incredible unintentional foreshadowing :D.
we all like to crack "wish Usopp was in Enies Lobby" jokes that we kinda forget the same happened here. That's why I love Merphy's take on the series, she sees stuff we don't.
Just a clarification. Sabo was raised as a noble, not a celestial dragon. Nobles are royalty of a kingdom. Celestial dragons consider themselves the worlds royalty. You can distinguish the two by the bubble hat, which only celestial dragons wear
17:04 Vergo already alluded to this, Law's "Haki" must be stronger than the other person to manipulate/cut them (Its not outright stated tho for Doflamingo and Fujitora themselves, but we can infer it) XD
I agree but there is a problem with that. Watch the scene where Luffy Red Hawks Doffy's ass and see how Law switches Doffy with himself. I guess maybe you can say that Doffy was caught off guard?
Two of Usopp's lies come true in this arc: 1. Him meeting dwarves in an Island of Dwarves (Syrup village; Spoken to Kaya) 2. A beautiful swordswoman with meat (Thriller Bark; used to wake up Luffy, Zoro and Sanji).
I can't blame you for not feeling invested in Sabo at all. For you it's only been a few weeks since Sabo was revealed, so expecting him to return to the story is still fresh in your mind. For those of us who were reading week to week though, there was a 3 year gap between his reveal and his return, so we stopped thinking about Sabo all the time. As a result his sudden return surprised us as much as it did Luffy.
Sabo is not a Celestial dragon, he’s just a regular noble. You can see this by the fact that when in the flashback when a celestial dragon arrives at the island where Luffy lives everyone makes a big deal about it, some of the citizens where even saying things like “I can’t believe the world nobles would come to the surface”.The arrival of the celestial dragon was also the reason why the king of the country wanted to burn Grey terminal including the people so that they could have a nice welcoming.
@@iamnotinvolved1309 No, Sabo has no relation to Doflamingo. He is just a regular noble in the East Blue which are lesser than Celestial Dragons. Maybe for some reason you're thinking of Corazon (Doflamingo's brother).
It's incredible how deluded One Piece stans are. Post timeskip, the quality overall takes a decline, its when Oda focuses more on making the worldbuilding expansive and draws generic fights. The characters are far less developed when they were before timeskip and the story isn't that great anyways. The latest arcs of One Piece are highly dense and so overhyped. Wano ain't even half as good as Marineford, although it was an improvement on the arcs post timeskip.
Merphy, back in Jaya in Noland flashback, when telling about his adventures he said that he visited a country of small people ... Oda is absolute genius
@@EvilSewnit This man has been replying to other comments with the same type of thing. Imagine naming yourself that, setting your profile picture to that, and then going around One Piece videos responding to comments like that. I mean there’s the later reveal about that line of nobles so it’s.. almost. But yeah. He wasn’t a celestial. I’m glad/amused that I see lots of people picked up on that.
For real, any time she apologizes about length, I'm like "Nah, girl, it's good, do your thing." If it's eating into her real life time, that's understandable, but I don't want her cutting things short for the audience's sake.
17:10 Oda should've made this more clear from the beginning, but Law can't body swap people who have stronger Haki than him. This also applies to other abilities in the story, the ones which manipulate your body and soul they can't affect people with super strong Haki or simply a strong Will.
@@RolandTitan It's implied during the Worst Gen vs Kaido and Big Mom fight that he can't manipulate anybody who is *actively* guarding against his abilities with Haki. During Punk Hazard, nobody understood or even registered Law's attack as an attack, so they didn't defend against it and thus it worked as he wanted.
@@BadKarma444 To me it clear that what Law can do depend on the different in Haki. When Law haki is stronger he can do everything. When Law haki is weaker, it's limited. Law can shamble Doffy but can not take the heart out or swap personality. On Big Mom, Kaido cases, he can't even shamble them

@@tonicslonic6974 To put it bluntly... There are MORE EPISODES THAN CHAPTERS for dressrosa. Mostly because they kept putting extracts from the Rebecca flashback over and over, and the famous staring contests and panning shots got out of hand
I didn't even pick up on the fact that Koala was the same girl from Fisher Tiger's flashback. It had been like 3 or 4 years, and it was until I happened to re-read Fishman island months after I got to know and cement adult Koala as a character, that I saw little Koala again and I made the connection. Suddenly her character went from a cool addition to the roster of characters to a massive throwback call. Now her using fishman karate, paling around with a fishman, and being part of the Revolutionary Army made way more sense. Her character was already great without that, but my brain exploded a little bit when I realized everything tracked down. Had I not re-read Fishman Island, I don't know how long it would've taken me to realize they were the same character
Fun fact about Lucy, his design and name are a reference to Master Roshi from Dragon Ball (Lucy and Roshi are written and sound similar in Japanese) Sabo's return definitely felt more impactful as a weekly reader since it had been over 3 years since the flashback introduced him
Didn't Merphy accidentally call Luffy "Lucy" in one of the earlier OP videos. I think I remember seeing some commentators trying to keep their excitement in check to not spoil this arc?
The explanation is that it got nerfed hella hard. It should have just been that to take off a body part he has to be able to cut through it, and swap getting cancelled out by his observation haki just being nothing to people on a level far above him.
Finally someone that gets Sanji and Zoro's relationship. They're pure concentrated sibling love/hate. They will fight to no end and will never admit this, but they both deeply care for each other as siblings and crew mates and will protect each other with their lives. Sanji constantly watching an injured Zoro and Zoro knocking sanji out in thriller bark are good examples of this.
Sanji doesn’t just care about Zoro, he is always worried about everyone. Like in this arc he was worried about Nami group, in last arc he was worried about Samurai, and Marines. He is the kindest man, only his attitude is that he tries to act cool
Yes, this. And most people don't notice for hundreds of chapters. The fight in Arlong Park, the avalanche in drum island, Mr. Prince, "I needed a light", the Puffing Tom, Kuma... Just at the top of my head
hard agree reading cake island at the minute and its re-contextualised so many little things (always loved Sanji I agree that he is one of the kindest members of this crew) and it has made me love him that much more (one reason why I actually don't care that much about his over the top-ness regarding woman but my ability to listen to even mild Sanji hate has gone way down) - also I love how he pretends he only cares about Nami and Robin but his actions are different just with the thought and care he puts into looking after the wellbeing of his crew with their food and how he takes care of them so naturally so that he's got all their favourite foods down to muscle memory - I think I could pick any member of this crew and gush for ages but I love that he's a strong fighter and an idiot around girls but the thing that really stands out about him if you care to look beyond the other surface level stuff is that he's just such a kind guy - man though cake island hurt and I loved every minute and I think it has to be one of my favourite arcs
@@a.m.s6611 Yeah, if Sanji hadn't been so flanderized with the pervert humor he would probably be the best character in the series. Part of why I liked Whole Cake. Felt like Sanjifrom early in the series, where he was crazy about the ladies, but not nearly as creepy about it.
I love how you appreciate Zoro's and Sanji's friendship as much deeper than simple rivalry. In the fandom most people treat them as genuine nemesis and constantly try to powerscale the two when that's not the intent in which either character is written. They might greatly dislike each other but they still care, they're part of the same crew; they're nakama.
the way i see them is like siblings. its like, they argue, threaten to kill or maim each other, and so on, and the only thing i can think when i see it is "how sweet, they're like siblings"
Yeah i love both, but am def more of a sanji fan. I would say that zoro is stronger and u know what? Who the hell cares. Someone being stronger dsnt automatically make them better or more likable or is the only determining factor. Figuring out how Dressrosa's theme works with Dr Hirolik's "no one dies unless forgotten" is a good catch first time around. Took me a couple to see that. And yes, Bart is supposed to represent crazed OP Fandom. If you do watch the anime I hope you like Rebbecca in flashback. Like... a lot.
You also have to remember for a lot of people we saw Sabo's flash back years before he showed back up. I figured he was still alive but after a few years go by you start to forget about it. Him randomly showing up in Dressrosa was a lot more surprising and exciting.
Same with Koala being the girl from Fisher Tiger's flashback. It was like 3 years apart, it took me months to realize, and that's because after getting grown-up Koala as an established character in my head I re-read Fishman Island. Otherwise, it would've been way longer! All of a sudden, her knowing Fishman Karate and paling around with a Fishman made all the more sense
One thing that I've always had trouble with when trying to explain my love of Luffy is truly describing the complexity of this character. Like you were saying in the section with Rebecca, Luffy has an incredibly simple view of the world. He's an easily understood character who you can almost always read no matter how unpredictable he is, but there is so much complexity in that simplicity. He is a character with so many layers, but they're hidden behind a veneer of simplicity and stupidity and it is very hard to truly describe that and put it into words for me.
Luffy isn't a hero, but he's a good man. Luffy doesn't understand law or politics or things, but he knows what's right, what's wrong, who's being wronged, who's doing bad, and who needs to be punched in the face. He also knows when there's time you need to make hard decisions even if you don't want to. He's simple, but that simplicity basically allows him to see the truth of the world.
in a way, Doflamingo and Dresrossa in general is kind of like "what if Crocodile succeeded at taking over Alabasta." he made the Kingdom hate their ruler and made himself out to be the hero who saved the Kingdom kind of like what Crocodile was trying to do on some level. edit: oh you kind of mentioned it right after I typed this out lol
With Laws ability it’s a little strange to think about but essentially he needs to have stronger haki than the individual to manipulate their body in anyway. I think it’s just an unspoken rule Oda uses to keep the op op fruit from being too… OP
Think the soft rule is that if he can't cut them with his sword normally, he can't cut them with his fruit, either. So armament haki specifically, which might be why he was able to do it to Sanji, but maybe not Zorro, since it is stated that Sanji's armament is not as good as his observation, and Zorro is stated to be the opposite.
"Why do we even make plans at this point?" Law. Law makes the plans. And he's not yet fully aware of just how impossible it is for Luffy to follow any of them. :')
You have to understand from Law's perspective Luffy seems like a tactical genius. He somehow befriended 4 Warlords of the sea, Jimbei, Boa,Crocodile and Buggy. Created an escape plan no one would find him, Amazon Lily. Then Silver goddamn Rayleigh shows up. Luffy looks like he's created a masterful shadow alliance with huge players. And he's the son of Dragon and on good terms with 2 Yonkos? What a genius. Law also didn't talk to Luffy for more than 15 minutes by this point of forming the alliance. Law quickly realized... Oh no. The big thing with Sabo, having read week to week, wasn't the reveal that he's alive. The big emotions came from the fact that "Sabo's FINALLY here!!". Oda sure isn't shy about making his readers wait for pay-off, that's for sure.

The fact that there are small issues being presented way back here that literally all get addressed is so amazing. I don’t want to mention what things specifically because of spoilers, but damn it is wild! Oda’s set up skills are God-tier
as far as Law goes, i think shambles and the heart stuff requires him having haki strong enough for him to actually cut out their heart, otherwise he could have used it on Virgo too, and Doffy and Fujitora would not seem likely to be that easily cut but yeah, as far as super recent manga answers go, it is getting kinda crazy. we gotta be careful not to spoil that she's on to something. she may easily forget some of these questions since you can chalk some of these concerns as just "Oda being Oda", but maybe she could write some down to check over later. fr though, she could definitely hold on to some of these questions though. some of them have strong answers with shattering reveals. it'll be a while, but when she gets caught up, i hope to see more discussion and theory crafting

14:33 One really cute detail with this is that Usopp's name is a pun on Aesopp and the Japanese word "uso", meaning lie or untrue. So just to start off with his name basically is "lying Aesopp", but on top of that when they start calling him Usoland they are quite literally calling him a false Noland and they don't even realise it.
this has universally been one of the hardest things for the community to explain on a first watch. Like everyone gets luffy is not mature. but his emotional and understanding and battle sense are all like genius level but you cant say "luffy is smart or mature" in a sentence and not be like noooo thats not the right word
@@Zalied Luffy is really emotionally mature, kinda like how Merphy explained where he can read people really well. It’s present across the whole series and a key to his character, and it’s much more prevalent post timeskip with his interactions with characters like Law, Fujitora, Sanji, Big Mom, etc
I love that Merphy also notice that Sanji is the one that always is paying attention to Zoro and his antics lol. I love that Sanji even though he doesn't get along with Zoro, he still takes care of him like a friend.
I'm glad merphy appreciates the sanji-zoro dynamic I feel it's easy to miss, but sanji cares quite a lot about other male characters, specially strawhats. I am from Latin America, and the toy storyline reminds me of the "Detenidos Desaparecidos", from when our dictatorships killed and disappeared people. We always say that they were "trying to kill our memories". So we always sing "Neither Forgive nor forget". All the plot-line of political dissident in a country now ruled by an evil dictatorship backed by the world government reminds me heavily to the USA backed coups and dictatorships in my continent... I think it speaks to the grow of Oda, tackling themes as deep as racism and political violence in these kinds of manners.
Your segway into the introduction of Lucy may be my favourite thing on this entire platform. You baited me good, and I burst out laughing at the 'reveal' XD
The Sabo reveal was such a huge moment, it was insane. It's unfortunate that you didn't have to wait a few years for it, becos the wait created doubt, uncertainty & unbelievers. So when it happened, it broke the community.
Probably the major difference between Weekly and Binge Reading, the impact of so many moments were elevated because of the insanely long wait, even years for that matter.
And even then, a lot of fans weren't really happy with Sabo being Ace 2.0. It was kinda sloppy, and lots of people weren't fans of it because of the same reason Merphy wasn't... aaaaaaand the community theories of X is actually Sabo was just really annoying, to the point that I really wished Sabo was dead and when he was revealed I was personally extremely disappointed. Plus there's the explanation as to why he wasn't in the war... and that "explanation" being used again in another future arc... let's just say, there are people out there who really don't think that Sabo was one of Oda's best moves.

Same as how Ace is our connection to the whitebeard pirates. There's more to it but I'll it at that. ***spoilers*** As for the amnesia, for me it's not a problem if the trigger/catalyst fits with real life. If X just woke up with amnesia, without anything to trigger it, that would be bad. Even the recent example, you have Y who has a history of that behaviour & after googling it I saw that the recent trigger can cause amnesia episode. If on both cases it wasn't explored further, fair enough, but we know that isn't the case, it's a part of there story's that Oda has exploring. Especially for the recent character. Recently I learned that Sakazuki (the act of sharing sake cups) was probably named that way becos he was gonna kill Ace, and in return, tie together Ace & Sabo's story. E.g. Sabo remembers becos of the key words written in the article: Ace killed by Akainu(Sakazuki) protecting brother luffy. We'll have to wait and see how that develops but I love that, it makes it even better for me.
And as a side note, Doflamingo is my all-time favorite anime villain. He’s so unbelievably twisted. And he seems to be the only villain to this point who doesn’t greatly underestimate the Straw Hats. He had a great plan in place and took them seriously. He just got outplayed. But he didn’t make the cardinal sin of thinking he was too good to bring out the big guns to fight the Straw Hats.

One of the things I love about Dressrosa is the setting. The whole Spain aesthetic is colorful, vibrant, and refreshing. The Roman style Coliseum, the Picasso Sunflowers, the flamenco dancing, and the fairy tale like toys and Dwarves really create a one of a kind island. Plus Donquijote Doflamingo is named after the most famous story of Spanish origin, Miguel de Cervante's Don Quijote.
Apparently the Donquixote name wasn't actually from THE Don Quixote, but Don Quixote the Japanese convenience store chain. The Oda ran with the literary Don Quixote theme and gave Doffy anime Spain as his kingdom
@@FM-cp6kc Yeah, I kinda expected for it to be reverse engineered from his name. Instead of him being named because of the island. Cool tidbit nonetheless.
@@FM-cp6kc Oda also took something from Miguel de Cervante's Don Quijote: Doflamingos brother was named after Don Quijote's horse Rocinante and Don Quijote was known for his impossible fight against the windmills and Luffy is from the Fuusha Village standing for windmill. Also a fun fact: When Doflamingo cut Fujitora's meteorite it was a reference to NASA's first meteor cutting operation called operation Don Quijote.
One of the reasons Dressrosa is SO long is because mid-arc Oda realized that he was dragging the story out a little too much. So he reorganized and decided to cram more story elements into each arc moving forward. That's why SO MUCH happens in each arc moving forward. It's kinda awesome actually. I genuinely love Dressrosa. It's my 2nd favorite post-time skip arc. Luffy seeing Ace made my weeb heart swell so big. :D

Wonderful foreshadowing right there!! Edit: 31:01 is another Usopp's lie comes true. Back in Thriller Bark he mentioned that.
16:51 The reason Law isn't able to "body swap" the likes of Fujitora and Doffy is because they're just that much stronger than him. Law was able to do so to the straw hats, partly because he was stronger than them, his abilities were unknown to the straw hats, and because the straw hats sort of consider Law a friend, what with him saving their captain! If Law managed to successfully attack Fujitora and Doflamingo (at the same time no less!) it would be a feat worthy of being on the same page as those of the best in the world. Short answer? no one in their right mind would dare!
The tournament arc is a manga staple. The fact that it took one piece this long to do one and the unique way it pays off in the end is a great take on something that can be standard and predictable.
To me it felt forced and unnecessary. Maybe Oda just felt like it? But I didn't think it was that good. In hindsight, because of what happened at the end of the arc: with the cups, the tournament arc became better.
@@apoptosisduellinks109 Actually it was more of a narrative tool than a trope in this case. How can you introduce lots of characters at once(for the future Strawhat Grand Fleet)? A tournament arc

I absolutely love watching your One Piece videos. Seeing you go from "ok, this is OK..." to "I would die for Luffy" is so great. I definitely did the same thing. The excitement you display when talking about One Piece is exactly how I feel even upon re-reading/rewatching every time. Thank you for doing these videos
One of the great aspect of Dressrosa is that its represent the whole world of One Piece in smaller scale. When we first start the series the world seem like a happy and cheerful fantasy world. But as we continue we find out that underneath this world have dark secrets. Same thing is with the toys in Dressrosa. And it also make sense cause the ruler of Dressorsa os a Celestial Dragon, one of the people who rule the whole world.
"he's the most relatable character of One Piece" Ahhhh, I see that you are also a person of culture. Lmao, I love Bartolomeo and I am extremely glad that you understand his character so well!
Barto is the first of Oda's "I'll introduce a new character the fandom will go absolutely nuts over" streak. There's at least one of those in each arc from now on.
About the thing related to why Law didn't used his powers to swap Doflamingo and Fujitora's body. The reason of it might be because of what Smoker said to Tashigi in chapter 661, he said "Your Haki can't handle this" during the scene when she was going to attack Law, and later confirming her Haki couldn't handled it, which can imply that someone with a powerful (Armament) Haki can endure or stop a Devil Fruit user's attacks from affecting the person's body, in this case being Law's technique related to his supernatural abilities. And in chapter 690, Doflamingo said to Law: "Even your severing powers can do nothing to the strength of his Haki"; indicating that a strong Armament Haki can stop a Devil Fruit user's attack from doing effect.
The reason Momonosuke is so important, is mentioned in one of the panels that you've showed, the one at 4:53. It's not a spoiler since you've seen it but I'm letting you look at it for yourself.
Murffy keeps mentioning the most wholesome and most devastating backstories ever and all I can think is "so far." Just waiting for that backstory to drop to see Murffy's reaction to that because its coming and when it hits, it hits hard than a truck isekaing me into a new world.
17:30 I believe this part was explained in either a databook or and SBS and quite recently. Essentially strong enough Haki (especially Conquerors) can disturb some of his abilities, mainly the remote ones such as moving/swapping unwiling creatures, body swap, remote dismemberment. He can still use his powers, but needs to be more direct with them. Seems a bit of a cop-out but at the same time it brings a bit of balance.

@@PhantomGreyfire Wow! Anyone gets turned on when people do this?
@@PhantomGreyfire don't apologize mate. You're doing God's work.
So our boy Bartolomeo is called "The Cannibal". Thats because cannibal is the Japanese word for internet troll. So basically he's "Barto the Troll". Makes more sense thinking about him like that.
as a character said, paraphrasing, "he laps their hatred with his insults and drives them into such a frenzy, its like he's eating them"
Aaaaaa so that's why he is called that
Ohh~ I didn't know that. Thanks.
That makes so much sense. TIL sth. new about OP!

I never noticed that connection between the "When does a man die?" Speech and the "death" of the toys in Dressrosa.
Thats actually pretty wild.
Like... a lot.
That should be Dr. Hirurk. Oda was clearly using the Russian word for surgeon there.
Rebecca flashbacks are super annoying in anime since it shows that every episodes at least one or two times.

With Laws ability it’s a little strange to think about but essentially he needs to have stronger haki than the individual to manipulate their body in anyway. I think it’s just an unspoken rule Oda uses to keep the op op fruit from being too… OP

The big thing with Sabo, having read week to week, wasn't the reveal that he's alive. The big emotions came from the fact that "Sabo's FINALLY here!!". I don't remember how long the gap between this moment and the post-war arc was, but I think it was close to 3 years of publication since we last saw Sabo. Oda sure isn't shy about making his readers wait for pay-off, that's for sure.

Another odd thing she did… “I don’t think I’ll ever say Dressro… right. So anyway in Dressrosa…” i feel like some of it is just her being quirky, if you’re an avid reader and can’t pronounce words properly… I find that kind of thing hard to believe.
@@the5thgeneral She has dyslexia plus she doesnt watch the anime
@@the5thgeneral it's my experience that someone can read the same word, many times over many years, without once using it in conversation. Since the words are fairly specific to One Piece, I think it's reasonable these recordings capture her still getting used to them.
It amazes me how many things she brings up that are being answered only recently in the manga. The fact that there are small issues being presented way back here that literally all get addressed is so amazing. I don’t want to mention what things specifically because of spoilers, but damn it is wild! Oda’s set up skills are God-tier
Like the judge stuff
Also why law doesnt use all his abilities sometimes
as far as Law goes, i think shambles and the heart stuff requires him having haki strong enough for him to actually cut out their heart, otherwise he could have used it on Virgo too, and Doffy and Fujitora would not seem likely to be that easily cut
but yeah, as far as super recent manga answers go, it is getting kinda crazy. we gotta be careful not to spoil that she's on to something. she may easily forget some of these questions since you can chalk some of these concerns as just "Oda being Oda", but maybe she could write some down to check over later.

people literally watch full reactions to every episode. and we all know how slow the episodes can be later on. thats a 1:1 ration on sections watched though. one piece fans just want to see more one piece. WHICH is funny because the biggest complaint against one piece is the length but all the fans just want more length and more story
Doflamingo in Dressrosa is what Crocodile would've been in Alabasta if Luffy hadn't stopped him.
"Luffy is very immature. But he is very mature." --- Merphy Napier 2021

It’s present across the whole series and a key to his character, and it’s much more prevalent post timeskip with his interactions with characters like Law, Fujitora, Sanji, Big Mom, etc
luffy'snot smart...but he knows and understand people (mostly, except when they lie to him).
Your reaction to Sabo is how I felt as well in the beginning, Luffy's emotion is what carried the moment for me.
I'm quite fond of both the Luffy-Sanji and the Usopp-Sanji dynamics. ahhh I'm obsessed with how much foreshadowing and build up you've paid attention to, good luck with the rest of dressrosa!!

Glad someone said it! It's easy to misunderstand.
about bart: his power is a wall that no character can break. you know, the 4th wall.
@@joelsantos662 Sabo still made it in the top 10 of the popularity poll of 2021. So i don't know who this "many" is but it seems they are not that many poeple disliking Sabo compared to the poeple linking him.

@@joelsantos662 that's fine, to each his own. For me, Sabo wasn't a random add on, it didn't take away from Ace, it added depth to luffy's story & his pain. Like, wow, this is the past we didn't know of and this is why he is how he is etc.
Also, I appreciate that Sabo is our personal attachment to the revs, our way into the organisation. Same as how Ace is our connection to the whitebeard pirates. There's more to it but I'll it at that.
***spoilers***
As for the amnesia, for me it's not a problem if the trigger/catalyst fits with real life.
One thing I think goes underappreciated is Franky being the one to spearhead helping the soldier and the Tontattas with their plan, I thought it was a great moment for him
And she hasn't even met Senor Pink, yet...
Very glad you copped on to the fact the Bartolomeo is Oda's special dedication to us, the readers. When I try to imagine the fan mail that man has probably had to endure...

There is also spains hitory with faschist regims that fit very much.
Only one correction: The Sunflowers are from Van Gogh, not Picasso.

"He's just a caterpie". Oof. The disrespect.
One Piece is literally a giant tournament arc. The final arc is dubbed as "Throne Wars".
To me it felt forced and unnecessary. Maybe Oda just felt like it? But I didn't think it was that good. In hindsight, because of what happened at the end of the arc:
with the cups, the tournament arc became better.

I wouldn't call it a cop out, given that we already knew stuff like arnament haki can allow the users to bypass devil fruit immunities. It only makes sense that it works as, well, defense as well if it can help on offense.
