I agree with you. Not every class should have CC. Going back to the roots is a good idea with class skills being different. Not the modern "everyone can do everything" builds.

I, too, agree. A couple of archtypes should have a stun or two, and a couple more should have the option for breaks. But I believe both abilities should be options from the skill tree. You should have the option to live without it if you want.

My hot take , tanks should have the bulk of the CC .
They should be super toxic with CC in PvP , if left alone the tanks will disrupt large groups of opposing enemies.
That keeps tanks relevant in group PvP .

Its very fine line to walk for Intrepid. You dont want every class to have the same toolkit, but all classes have to be able to do the content. Lets say sieges are the main end game feature.. If theres a class that doesnt contribute much to sieges, then there wont be a lot of people playing that class.
Look at M+ right now in WoW, there are so many interrupts and poison dispels that are required for these dungeons and priests dont have the toolkit to deal with it. So people are just playing other classes. You cant give priests those abilities because then they will have everything. Thats a terrible end game loop design on Blizzard's part.
PvP is totally different ball game in WoW. So it could be fixed. In Ashes, PvP and PvE will be happening at the same time, so i'll be interested to see how they do it.
They are balancing groups and not individual classes, but if it's more beneficial to bring 2 clerics instead of bringing a bard then thats what players will do. Not saying that is what will happen but its just an example of how players will min/max group comp. Good luck Intrepid! 😂

I think it's fine if a class isn't that good for siege. Unbalanced games have more flavor

I'm 2:32 minutes in and It's a super hot take already, You're right, not everyone should be able to do everything every class should be the best at somethings and have "holes" in other areas. That's what's missing in MMO's today because it heightens the need for group play and enhances it. And I think that's what makes secondary classes so interesting because they may give You a little bit of what You lack.
For example, Fighter You want little more CC? Maybe You go for Ice mage augments. Want a little bit more sustain? Go Cleric. E.c.t So You can kind of "plug" one of Your weaknesses, or double down and be even better at what You're already good at. So it can definitely all come together once everything is released.

Having a cc break ability built into the stamina skill line that takes a purposeful investment could be a decent option. Much like the pvp trinket in early wow, you had to choose between more damage/utility from a trinket or the cc break from pvp trinket.

What made me leave DAoC was Hibernia had no CC and The other 2 realms had AE CC's. Made it damn near impossible to defend keep. Later on came CC breaking achievements, but I was in SWG by then.

this is why i said GW 2 combat still the best on the market, and problem is nobody is close to make that good combat!Right now AoC combat is still meh and slow, but about CC wee need to spend time to play this game + hit max lvl, gear and then talk about that :D!

Bad take on this one. Every class should have the option of specing in a CC break. If not the pvp in the game will push ppl away. Look at the CC in new world for example.

An MMO without CC combos becomes an MMO with extremely flawed combat, ruins the experience of all melee classes and deprives all players that enjoy spec into CC, being a DPS or a Support it's a widely played play style and adds dynamic/variety to the game, When both your opponents need to think about the order of skills, debuffs, stuns and cc breaks this makes the fight fun instead of a fight where it depends on who generates more damage faster.

If you want a game that is heavy pvp focused, everyone needs a cc and/or ways to get out of it. Other wise you have classes that are seen as absolutely worthless and pointless while other class are god-tier vs a bunch of B tiers. In pve on the other hand its about balance and how you need different people to do different things to accomplish a goal. It's why I burned out of PVP games and only care about what they say when it comes to PVE.
