      Jamie Lyn How about a video on how you are utilizing physics in day to day life as a Sonographer?
      On a funny thought, have you ever had a baby wave at you when doing a sonogrogram on a pregnant mother in her 3rd trimester?

  • @veanne

    Thank you for this video! I thought it would be a negative one about sonography but it’s actually very encouraging! It shows that as long as you have dedication, you can do what you love. It also helped me understand that you can do different things with ultrasound!

     Is it more valuable to go into general diagnostic medical sonography or to specialize in a specific area of the body?
     Did you go to college to obtain your degree in sonography?
     Would you recommend checking out different schools vs. limiting yourself to one school for sonography?

    • @JamieLyn
      @JamieLyn  2 роки тому

      Hi! I did go to college and I obtained an associates of science. I personally say go into general first just so you know what to specialize in but there is more money in specialties. Hope that helps

    3 questions:
    As a recent grad with a few months gap what is the best way to approach the “how much training do you think you will need?” If you know you need a bit of training starting off & don’t want to lie that you’re good to go off the bat?
    how do you explain if you left your first job at a clinic after a month (having the supervisors on your side, leaving on a good note) but because you were not receiving the proper training from the lead tech who stated they don’t want to train and don’t like training, or have the patience to train a new grad. therefore the supervisor above them supported your decision to resign and even offered to be a reference for a new job else where?
    How do you elaborate if where you went to school CCI rules over ARDMS but the state you are job searching is all about ARDMS & the interviewers treat ARDMS as superior to CCI, even though they both say “adult echocardiography” on Both. It’s almost as if some employers in the ARDMS saturated area invalidate CCI credentials.

    This was very helpful thank you. I'm looking into this career. Is there any physical/health requirement to becoming a sonographer? I had a liver transplant about a year and a half ago, and completely healthy now.. I even have a job and am currently working but just concerned if having that history will hinder me from becoming one.

      Ultrasound can be very physically draining if you do not be careful and work on ergonomics/ how you scan. You have to sometimes help patients be moved around but if you can’t do it on your own you could always ask for help (so long as you work somewhere with others!) I’m glad to hear you’re healthy!! ✨ Stay PAWSitive!

    Hi .I love your videos. Need your suggestion, I have read a lot of stuff which states sonographers are treated really badly on indeed website and this just makes me a little wary,while I understand there are ups and down in every profession but need your views as well.

    These are great informative videos! Thx for taking the time to share! I love the fact you’ve brought up God’s timing and His blessings in previous comments, etc. Out of curiosity, how much are you utilizing knowledge of physics in your day to day work? This is one of the things that has intrigued me about sonography in general... the concepts of how we are able to get images out of sound waves. When God spoke “Let there be light” His sound waves not only created light but once light came images were able to be seen. Since there is a parallel between the spiritual realm and the natural realm it is intriguing to consider the advances in technology and how scientists have figured out to convert sound waves into light. Having said that, I would be so intrigued to study physics and sonography to come up with more spiritual parallels (for myself) but also wondering how much are you practically leaning upon your knowledge in physics in everyday day to day work?

    Hey Jamie!! So when I was in extern my lead UT Tech did duel screen for every single exam, and I asked her if that was because the radiologists preferred it that way? She said no I was just taught that way and now I always do it. I don't know if that is what you do too, but it DRIVES ME INSANE lol!! I will do dual for certain images/findings, but not for every single exam/picture. I would like to know your professional opinion about that??!! =)

    • @JamieLyn
      @JamieLyn  4 роки тому

      Hi!! Well I guess it depends on preference, if I need an image with and without color, femur & tib fib, humorous & radial/ ulna, I will dual screen but only to cut down on images (ALARA) but not it is not necessary. I’d say find your way that makes you feel good about your exams and stick with it. 😊

    Good to see your videos thanks for all videos...I wanna ask you a question, how about starting a mobile ultrasound business independently ? as RDMS are you allowed to do so in Canada?

    • @JamieLyn
      @JamieLyn  4 роки тому

      So the problem with that is you have to find someone (a doctor) who is willing to read your images so it can be difficult. However, you could have a 4d pregnancy ultrasound business and as far as Canada goes I am not sure. Sorry. Great question though thank you! 💕

    Thank you for using my comment! I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice on changing careers to sonography as an adult vs someone younger out of school. I'm currently in healthcare IT, and after months of decision making feel like sonography would be a good fit for me as a career. I understand everyone's comments about how lucrative IT is, but people don't take into account the severe burnout. So I'm really interested in your thoughts as you mentioned in this video you were in the USMC, were you a medic and did you do Sono while active duty or did you come to sonography later in life? Thank you so much, please keep making videos!

    • @JamieLyn
      @JamieLyn  5 років тому +1

      Of course and thank you for watching!! My husband went to school for IT (Bachelors degree) but hated it so i understand that good money or not if you don’t like what you do what is the point, right?! While I was in the Marine Corps I was in administration and did that but in dental for years afterwards it wasn’t until later that I knew I wanted to be in the medical field helping others and after my father passed away from cancer and having a conversation with my mom I decided to go back to school for Sonography and for me it was the best decision! There is nothing wrong with changing career field as someone older as long as you’ve done your research and know for sure it’s what you want to do! 😊💕
