Episode 4.
In this episode, I am preparing the soil for planting by turning it over with a spade shovel. Lots of worms, BIG worms.
This is a simple video but so valuable to me, a garden newbie. I escaped the city last Fall and moved to the country. I have no idea how to begin a garden. New tillers are so expensive and look awkward to operate. Can I at 70 till a large garden by myself, by hand? I bought all these seeds this week and a large bag of seed potatoes and a shovel. The rains have stopped for a while and the ground is soft like yours. I just came in from digging my first ten rows of earth! I am so proud. I am so happy. I am so excited to have my first garden! Thank you for this video which gave me the courage to try. The soil was so cooperative, almost like it is excited too!!
This is fantastic!
You did it.
I am proud of you for taking this action. It is good exercise and a lot of work but can be rewarding.
Now you can grow your own food. Yes!
Thanks for sharing this with me.
Best of luck and keep gardening,
Allan

Thank you. I wish it was easier then it is. :)
Wow that soil is super soft
Hehe, thanks for watching. Check out my new series: Lawn to Garden. I am uploading part 3 tonight.
Really nice job.
Thank you.
Exactly what I needed to see, thanks so much for this. Every time I look up how to till soil it's always a guide on using an electric tiller.
Glad it was helpful. 😁
I am so glad to hear. This is a popular video. My garden is now 4 years old. I have so much to learn still. Thanks for watching. Subscribe to the channel.
That's a nice way to start a garden. How to break the soil into smaller pieces (more flat), to plant small seeds (like arugula) ?
I have new video series "Lawn to garden by hand with a shovel". In a upcoming episode I will try to talk about what I do to break up the soil.
I was looking for how does it work actually in physics there was a topic lever according to that this spade comes in under class 1 leve where fulcrum is in between
Diging is hard work but the right tools can make it easier. Thanks for watching and good luck!
