  • Join us this week as we start day one af three along the Gibb River Road.
We had heard a lot of mixed reviews of the Gibb this year. There had been a really bad wet season for a few wets in a row so the road was apparently in horrible condition and no waterfalls were flowing. Have a watch to find out what we thought of it

You are right, people see what they want to see. I like to spend time in the remote regions, lots of people wonder why, saying there is nothing out there other than flies. I don't mind, keeps it free from to many people for longer.
    Keep up the good work.

JJ's Adventures when we got to the more remote areas were some of our favorite times.

Great camera work, guys. I'm looking forward to taking the Prado on the Gibb probably mid-2020, so your footage is inspiring. I'll look forward to following your journey. Cheers.

Hey guys, rewatching your Gibb Rd trek, do you remember how far from free camp to Winjana Gorge?

Thanks a lot for the video . We'll be venturing through that road in a couple of months. Just wondering in what months did you film this? I'm not sure about whether they'll regulate the tunnel walk though. WA parks is quite wild in that sense compared to say Queensland. Have you guys seen the Gloucester tree? That would be so regulated and full of hazard and risk of death signs in any other state! Cheers!

When I went to Tunnel Creek a few years ago I did not see any crocs but did see 2 big snakes. One was curled up blocking the path so we had to quietly go around it through the water. Some of the coldest water I have ever been in but an amazing experience....oh plenty of bats too.

The Gibb is a great part of the world !.. as you said too many people just blasting through beating their chest to say they've done it without actually doing it or seeing any of its treasures..
I do think it is being spoilt by the road upgrades and the mass of people driving it these days.
I am looking forward to your next video with enthusiasm ...some of greatest holiday memories along the Gibb River Road...

We would love to go back and do the Gibb just after a good wet season, it would be slow going with all the water crossings but would also be so much fun! Glad we were able to bring back some great memories :)

Love your video guys, Great inspiration for our "Lap" this year, starting at the end of January. Watching keenly on the wet season, to decide whether we go up the middle and across the Top End and Kimberley first, then down the West Coast..... time will tell. What time of year were you on the Gibb? I find myself wondering what time of year the videos were shot . Good luck with the troopy and hope you are safe from the fires. Thanks again for your Videos.

you'll have the best time on your lap! We were in the Gibb in August. We would really like to do the top end again after a good wet season before the big hub of the tourist season starts up

Oh, first 10 seconds - let the tyre pressure down. If you're not running 50psi, you'll get side wall punctures. Ask any of the crews who live and drive on the Gibb.
If you take a run down to WCC you'll need to be up to 55. That road is shrapnel hell.

It might be a good idea if you don’t grizzle about the wingers. It will put viewers off including me. Just tell and show all the good and happy stuff. Happy travels.

Deane Hill I think you’ll find people prefer to hear how it is. If we only ever show the best of the best people will accuse us of portraying a false reality. And the point I made is don’t let people put you off of going somewhere, some of the best times we had last year were places people told us not to do.

If someone complains about a place / says they didn't enjoy it without any real reason to back it up, that tells me they simply didn't enjoy it and there's a good chance I will.
Those freshwater parts though, I'd jump right on in if it weren't for the locals haha 😅

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  4 роки тому

exactly! we were very tempted to swim in a lot of spots but didn't because of the number of local there haha
