    I've read a documentary story on YT about Carlos Yulo and his training in Japan with coach Munehiro Kugimiya. His coach instilled in him the discipline, confidence, and hard work. The Phil. gov't should also thank and reward this coach who acts as Carlos 2nd father.

      COACH KUGIYIMA, THANK YOU FOR MAKING A FILIPINO HERO OUT OF CARLOS YULO. I HOPE SOMEBODY WILL PETITION THAT YOU AT THE VERY LEAST BE AN HONORABLE CITIZEN OF THE PHILIPPINES! I ALSO HEARD THAT YOU SPENT YOUR OWN MONEY LETTING CARLOS LIVE WITH YOU AND PRACTICALLY FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING HIM ALTHOUGH TOU ARE NOT A RICH MAN, THROUGHOUT HIS YEARS OF STAY WITH YOU. I ALSO WISH THAT THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT WILL FINANCIALLY REWARD YOU JUST LIKE WHAT IT HAS DONE FOR CARLOS. THAT WAY THE JAPANESE PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENT WILL SEE THAT THE PHILIPPINES IS GRATEFUL FOR WHAT COACH KUGIYIMA HAS DONE.LONG LIVE AND MABUHAY SI COACH KUGIYIMA!

      Yes, the NHK documentary which was done before the Tokyo Olympics.
      Philippines should watch it. Coach Kugimiya is by no means wealthy. Just hard working bachelor who took on Carlos and thought him discipline and how to build confidence to be successful.
      Carlos had difficulty in the beginning because nobody had thought him discipline and perseverance. As in the Philippines, nobody thought him those things. And it was hard in the beginning to even wake up in the morning to learn routine..
      Tough love is also love. Perhaps in the long run the best love. As it’s the only love to be able to stand on your own feet and take life in your own hands.

    Without the dedication and sacrifice of Coach Kugimiya, Caloy wont be an Olympic champion now. Look for the UA-cam Japanese documentary made a few years ago about his training in Japan. He even lived in the Japanese coach's house. Thats how dedicated his coach was to his training. Caloy owes everything to that coach. Splitting with his coach was a big mistake (rumor is that he left his coach and his training in Japan because he wanted to be closer to his girlfriend).
    Yes, he still won in the Paris Olympics, but that is because his training from the Japanese coach is still fresh. In the coming 4 years before the next Olympics in Los Angeles, if he doesnt get the right training like the one he got in Japan, he might not be able to repeat his gold medal performances.

    As a Pilipina who grew up in America, ang talagang lacking sa mga Pilipino sa Pinas ay discipline.
    The Japanese culture is about discipline in addition to respect, integrity and that's why they are successful. I learned to be disciplined growing up here in the States at ang mga Pilipino back home ay talagang kailangan ng discipline in life. To be focused on a goal, hindi lang basta-basta. There's a saying that I still hear a lot of Pilipinos say, "bahala na", that won't work.
    Coach Kugimiya-san deserves to be recognized for his wisdom, his time, his sacrifice, his teaching that gave Carlos, Philippines' golden boy 2 gold Olympic medals.

      Hindi lahat ng tao pareho ang diwa at kaisipan. Kung meron man natutunan si Carlos Yulo dito ay yung pahabain ang kanyang pasensiya. Hindi mo rin makukuha sa kanya ang kanyang sariling pagsisikiap. Siya yung naghirap hindi yung coach. Kung naghirap man dito yung coach ay yung alagaan siya sa Japan. Huwag tayong nagmamarunong na kunyari alam nating lahat ang buong kwento. Ibigay niyo na kay Yulo yun kasi desisyon niya yun at wala na kayong pake doon. Hindi makakakuha ng ginto si Yulo kung siya mismo ay hindi naniwala sa kakayahan niya. Pwedeng pwede bumigay si Yulo at lumipat sa ibang bansa para doon na lang niya ipagpatuloy yung pag-gymnastics niya pero hindi niya ginawa. Doon pa lang meron ng sariling katapatan, disiplina at prinsipiyo ang binata.

      @@DamionAlexander Not true at all. Without a great teacher Yulo would not have gotten where he is today. I watched the documentary a few times about his life in Japan. He wanted to quit and go home. Yet it was his coach that took him into his own house, fed him, and taught him everything he knew. We are Filipinos and we all need to humble ourselves to those that help us get to where we are. Even though they may not be Filipinos that taught us the way. We need to sometimes put aside our ego and our pride and learn from other cultures like the Japanese. Because our culture surely lacks discipline, dedication, the ability to sacrifice short term pleasure for long term success and so forth. If I was the Philippine government I would hire Carlos's Japanese coach and have him coach the Philippines gymnastic team.

      @DamionAlexander Місяць тому

      @@easyislander I am not discrediting the efforts of the Japanese coach before. Don't get me wrong but let's give credit to Yulo also where it is due. We are giving too much credit to his Japanese coach when, in fact, Yulo was the one who worked hard to get that gold medal. Just like Pacquiao before. Roach was his coach and he made improvements to Manny's skill which transcend his career. It's just the same. We give credit to the athlete not the coach because that is what a coach does help train the athlete.

    • @easyislander
      @easyislander Місяць тому

      @@DamionAlexander Why not give full credit to his Japanese coach? There is nothing wrong with that. Pacquiao also gave credit to others and not himself. Yulo can either be arrogant champion and defy his coach, his family, etc. Or he can give full credit to where it's due which is his family, his coach, and his god-given talent. That would make him a hero not only in the Philippines, but around the world.
      I still think that Yulo would not have made it if it weren't for his coach. It was obvious during his training that he wanted to quit and go home to the Philippines. Many Filipinos have the talent. But they just don't understand the meaning of discipline, courage and sacrifice to take their skills to the next level. They could be world class competitors competing against the U.S. Japan, Korea, etc. But they aren't. That's because we as a people tend to sacrifice long term success for short term pleasures. Watch 4 years from now, Yulo will be married with kids and possibly no time to train anymore for the next Olympics. I hope it won't happen...but that is just how our culture is.

    Sounds like Caloy was trying to set boundaries with his Japanese coach. While it sounds like a painful split, i admire Caloys courage in choosing peace of mind. Had he stayed in Japan where the work ethic can be toxic, his mental health may have been compromised. Bravo, Carlos for making such a brave choice 💯✨️🙏🏻 your Olympic gold validated your decision.

      What a very poor take.
      Kaya nga sya nanalo dahil dun sa training nya sa Japan. Hindi toxic yun. Ganun dapat ang level ng training kung gusto mo mag-champion. Kaya sya naging ganyan kahusay ay dahil sa training nya dun. Panoorin mo yung documentary sa kanya at makikita mo nung nagsimula sya mag training sa Japan, hindi pa sya ganun kagaling. Pati nga mga muscle nya hindi pa ganyan kalaki. Dun sya na-develop ng husto at gumaling sa gymnastics.
      Tingnan natin kung mauulit pa nya ang performance nya sa Los Angeles sa 2028 kung hindi na sa Japan ang training nya.
      Tsaka, tama na yang Filipino mentality na takot sa hard work at disiplina. Kaya hindi umuunlad ang Pilipinas eh.

    Mama Yulo's other children are still with KG Mgmt (founded by Kugimiya). Meanwhile, the mother disowned Carlos, and she was even proud of it in her Facebook posts.
    That's why the mother wanted Carlos to fail. She mocked the loss of Carlos in the first event in the Olympics by cheering for Japan at the expense of Carlos, even using this emoji 🙄 just to prove a point. This shows that the mother wanted Carlos to lose just to prove that she was correct and Carlos was wrong in leaving KG Mgmt.
    Unfortunately for the mother, Carlos won two gold medals in the Olympics. Now the mother rained on her son's parade just to steal the limelight.
    Good thing Carlos is mature enough to decides for himself rather than be trapped by his horrible mother.
    It's unfortunate that some strangers have the audacity to tell Carlos what to do with his life.
