I’m fine with DEI funding being stripped. But think about why this is happening now. When DEI & grievance studies ppl were sewing divisiveness at places like Evergreen College in Washington State (there’s a 3 or 4 part documentary that covers it really well) university leaders wouldn’t dare touch the funding. But now that college students are protesting what might be genocide in Gaza, a group is using its power & influence to request that funding be revoked & the firing of leaders at these universities where there’s protests. They’re desperate to stop these protests.

DEI has made communities UNSAFE. If people don’t believe that the law will be executed in a way that punishes the guilty, REGARDLESS of DEMOGRAPHICS after a fair trial using due process then they won’t believe that anyone cares about their concerns and will lose trust in not only people, but in institutions. I am all for seeing qualified, intelligent ethical people who rise on their own merit, regardless of melanin concentration, social, economic status, or place of birth. A co-worker once told me about how she taught remedial classes at her college to help pay for her tuition. She taught basic English grammar and charged the students the princely sum of $2.00 per private session or .50¢ for group workshops. That way, people had to commit to the class. She covered things like nouns (person, place or thing) and capitalization the first class. Verbs (action or state of being) the second class. By the end of 8 weeks, she had them ready to write simple essays. The professors were shocked that their students were clearly progressing. Some of them didn't make it to graduation, but when they left, they knew how to write simple, declarative sentences and paragraphs.
Absolutely based... on the real problems they're facing. All it took was a little quibble several thousand miles away to show them who the real problem on campus is. The tent cities on college quads was the beginning of the end. I hope the LARP was fun while it lasted.
