I’ve been following your channel for quite a while and this is gonna be my first comment, which I was actually writing with grief for all those heartbreaking experiences you’ve been through, as well as with gratitude to God that you’re finally in the State and having a fairly good time, being with your beloved wife and enjoying your campus life. Truth be told, I totally understand every single word you spoke, a boy of innocence with both a good heart and a good brain whispering into my ears, and every time I was touched. As a native of Wuhan, I’ve gone through all that shit worse than being in hell as one could imagine two years ago during the unprecedented lockdown in human history. The only one good thing that happened to me during those dark days was that I got to meet online this amazing lady from Taiwan, who is now my girlfriend, although we actually haven’t yet met each other for real since we fell in love in the first place. I really hope our romance would eventually work out just as it did in your case. All my best wishes for you and your wife, as well as your family members, in spite of them being bewitched by China’s propaganda for the moment. As follows is what I wrote to my girlfriend back then to explain why I pretended to be a Taiwanese when I met her. Sorry to hear that. The censorship is really frustrating. The central government just has so much power now. Dissent is needed for change and they squash any sign of dissent so quickly now. Even in your tiny family group.
Freedom of speech doesn't cause instability. Usually it only cause debate or sometime a little bit uproar. I'm from Indonesia. We have 700 ethnic groups and languages and none is dominant. The most numerous ethnic group is only 40 percent. None reach 51 percent. But, Indonesia is a stable country. I hope leadership in China finally realize it.
I got an exactly experience. Shared a pic about something they don't like, and they won't see any message from me in the group anymore. I still have my WeChat account though cuz I guess I'm using a foreign number under WeChat policy rather than Weixin Policy.

If i may offer some thoughts in reference to your comment about not giving a sh*t and leaving if things in a country you may be residing in goes badly. I would say, you should care. If you have consciously chosen a place to live, especially given your home country of China does not offer you a "freeing" life, then you should in some sense be obligated or at least strongly incentivized to care and fight for what you believe in. Without a sense of care for your society, it will degrade and decay - guaranteed. I believe you know this to be true given your comment about CGTN and CCTV not covering the poorest of people and only covering the positive aspects of China. Otherwise, why would you care to mention it or even risk your wechat account by saying you disagree with the leadership in China? You know it is a lie through omission and it does not help those who genuinely need it. I say this knowing that your thoughts and comments about losing your wechat account are probably still negatively impacting you. In your videos, you typically have a positive attitude and you may not be in the best mood at the moment so i only offer you some thoughts to consider that may prove to be a positive outlook on this whole situation. On a practical level, where do you go if your surroundings went to poorly? There are only so many places on this earth that will offer you the life you want and you had left in China for. "Eacaping" back to China, without any change in your motherland will leave you right back in square one and there, you have no hope of changing things. At least in the USA, there is a hope and chance to make a difference.

I have a very strong masculine friend, and most people see him that way, but he has told me that he has 3 boys, and if the boys decide to take dancing lessons, or other non-male traditions...he will support them for whatever it is that makes them who they are. Glad you’re enjoying your life in the US. Glad you are doing well. Yeah the regime is feeling incredibly vulnerable right now. I heard many different theories like power struggle between the Xi (princelings) and Jiang faction (business), etc. hence all the crazy crackdowns and censorship. I totally understand how you feel as it is very hard to talk about politics with the elderly generation as they have been conditioned to believe the government and state works for the interest of the people when in reality the regime works for its own interests in preserving power.

Sorry to hear that. The censorship is really frustrating. The central government just has so much power now. Dissent is needed for change and they squash any sign of dissent so quickly now. Even in your tiny family group.
Freedom of speech doesn't cause instability. Usually it only cause debate or sometime a little bit uproar. I'm from Indonesia. We have 700 ethnic groups and languages and none is dominant. The most numerous ethnic group is only 40 percent. None reach 51 percent. But, Indonesia is a stable country. I hope leadership in China finally realize it.

Good to hear from you again Simon. Its unfortunate news regarding your wechat account. However, on the bright side, at least you can disassociate further from the abusive relationship the CCP has with their citizens.
If i may offer some thoughts in reference to your comment about not giving a sh*t and leaving if things in a country you may be residing in goes badly. I would say, you should care. If you have consciously chosen a place to live, especially given your home country of China does not offer you a "freeing" life, then you should in some sense be obligated or at least strongly incentivized to care and fight for what you believe in. Without a sense of care for your society, it will degrade and decay - guaranteed. I believe you know this to be true given your comment about CGTN and CCTV not covering the poorest of people and only covering the positive aspects of China. Otherwise, why would you care to mention it or even risk your wechat account by saying you disagree with the leadership in China? You know it is a lie through omission and it does not help those who genuinely need it.
I say this knowing that your thoughts and comments about losing your wechat account are probably still negatively impacting you. In your videos, you typically have a positive attitude and you may not be in the best mood at the moment so i only offer you some thoughts to consider that may prove to be a positive outlook on this whole situation.
On a practical level, where do you go if your surroundings went to poorly? There are only so many places on this earth that will offer you the life you want and you had left in China for. "Eacaping" back to China, without any change in your motherland will leave you right back in square one and there, you have no hope of changing things. At least in the USA, there is a hope and chance to make a difference.
Look., the Government got to grow up & not be a baby. I criticise my PM but nothing happened so surely It looks like the Government are not adult enough to accept criticism.

For an individual to express himself or herself, Simon, is more about identity. Here, people respect individualism, even if they don't agree. I have a very strong masculine friend, and most people see him that way, but he has told me that he has 3 boys, and if the boys decide to take dancing lessons, or other non-male traditions...he will support them for whatever it is that makes them who they are. So, yes, stick to what your mind tells you to say, that is who you are, Simon, you are Simon...no one else.
This is our motherland, with a government that is so hard to love and live with.
