Why is the front of the 49xx tram series so asymmetrical?

To have the front door aligned with the side of the tram, since it was supposed to become some sort of "metro-tram". However the project was never completed and, after some accidents, the back of the tram was made symmetrical and now the last door is not aligned anymore.

The front and the back were too large for the urban tracks. Those trams were designed for a light-rail ring, this is also why they look so huge and heavy.

Capisco il suo commento (fuori luogo sotto questo video comunque) se lei viene da Zurigo. Se no, Milano confrontata con le altre città italiane ha un trasporto pubblico eccellente a livello europeo. Probabilmente unica in Italia.
