Ocean State Theater ( now called Providence Performing Arts PPAC) I was 12 and just started getting into Randy Rhoads, his style so unique and different than anything I had heard , Randy was scheduled with Ozzy to play the Providence Civic Center in April 82’ and from what I’ve heard it was going to be video/audio recorded , I was going to this show and then that dreadful day March 19,1982 RIP Randy you were the best , my all time favorite...
I wish that I'd gotten to see him live in concert. I already had my Diary of a madman ticket when the plane crash happened. The concert went on and Randy's replacement was Brad Gillis.
A rare performance and a real pleasure to hear Randy in another concert with a few subtle differences from the "Tribute" version. Thank you for posting. Great photos.
GOOD STUFF TPAIN2345 I HAD BHSOUP IN HIGH SCHOOL AROUND '84 MY GIRLFRIEND SAW HIM LIVE AND MY BUD MAN SAW THE LAST SHOW.RANDY HIMSELF SAID HE IS PLAYING EVHALEN LICKS BUT HE WAS BEING A TRUE GENLEMAN THANK YOU !!!!!
I wish we had more versions of this that he played live, because they were all unique. He always did some different things. Then he completely morphed it into the band jam.
Right Now on My Birthday i Hear this Legendary Solo Of them All Too Get Inspired as i do LONG LIVE HEAVY METAL AND THE PEOPLE WHO BELIVES IN RANDY RHOADS And the Tribute Guitarists
Wow no way I Loved this guy,saw him every time I could I was a little younger he was a guitar god to us for sure, My guitar player Craig Vitola lived around the corner from him and was great himself and was only a student. Still breaks my heart he died so young gone but not forgotten. Now in Rock N Roll heaven is positive and thats where I wanna be with the Lord and rock n roll, Amen
randy never said he was playing van halen licks and he was doing his laughing gas solo bout the same time eruption came out. the only person that said randy was copying anything was evh cause randy was stealing his thunder up til the day he died. the only thing van halen did 1st was get a record deal and evh didn't invent tapping anyone can look up a guy that was finger tappin the hell out of his guitar 30yrs before evh it's on you tube.
Jason Philpot Yeah but they were in the clubs at the same time, and RR would go to VH shows that's why Eddie would turn his back to the crowd , Ace also had a tapping version in 77....it wasn't just to cover his tapping but his style all together, which no one had
+ToJo Audio Thanks for pointing that out! I've listened to many Randy bootlegs and have never heard that before. Very likely, he rocked a volume foot pedal back and forth during that measure. You can also achieve the same effect ala EVH (Cathedral, etc) by using your pick-hand pinkie to swell the volume knob on strats, but the Ozzy-era RR solos were played on the polka dot V so the knobs were too far behind the tremolo for the swell technique.
since i commented i found another way of doing it, it kinda sounds the same, randy loved flicking the pickup switch, if u hammer on a fret and flick the pick up selector switch in much the same way that is done during crazy train you get a similar sound :)
ah shucks, could you send the audio recording to me? :) ha i dont wanna bother you but im dying to hear that. is it a band jam or unaccompanied solo? im kind of a "collector" of his solos.
i meant just the audio recording. sorry dude. if i had it i would totaly upload it. no stopping me. id change the pitch of it or anything. (im a minor as well by the way) sorry dude :\
Any conspiracy theories out there about Randy's death? ie Don or Sharon Arden? Randy wanted to leave the band at the time of his passing. Maybe the thought was he was getting too much press over Ozzy. I wonder if anything on Bark at the Moon was written by Randy (BATM kind of sounds like a Randy riff with sus4 chords). It's all about publishing and royalties for Ozzy and Sharon. I read that Don Ardent didn't like Randy and had quite the reputation. Joe Lynn Turner said this driver scared him.
I read something that said that Don Airey was taking pictures and that upon zooming in, he said he saw what appeared to be a struggle in the cockpit, do you think Randy was trying to save the tour bus from being hit?
Usually Randy plays the Spotlight solo with the Sandoval polka dot . You can also listen in the end that After the solo the Guitar Is untuned... Randy himself complained of this defect . I think he was playing the Sandoval dot.
The album was sadly edited. Most of it came from Cleveland, Ohio on May 11th, 1981. It's available in its entirety on UA-cam. Sadly, his spotlight solo was edited, and spliced with the solo from Montreal Canada, July 28th, 1981. (No idea why?) This is definitely Providence, R.I.
is it at all possible you could email that to me and i could see it? how do you even have it?!?!? please if there is ANY way you could get that to me w/o me getting a jail sentence (im a minor) that would be awesome! if not, totally understandable.
UM I HAD B H STEW IN HIGH SCHOOL AROUND '84.MY GF SAW RANDY LIVE AND MY BUDMAN SAW THE LAST CONCERT! I HAVE THIS DOWNLOAD!MANY THANKS ! ALSO ...RANDY SAID HE IS PLAYING EVHALEN LICKS AND IT KILLS HIM!I I PERSONALLY NEED THIS STUFF MORE THAN YNGVIE!
Hearing Randy play always gives me chills. A truly gifted musician, and a beautiful person. God rest Randy Rhoads!

Randy Rhoads was just simply amazing!!!!!! I'm adding this as one of my favorites. Any rock collection should include RR!

He is best remembered by listening to his music
I did also. Saw this tour in Philly with Gillis. Saw him a dozen times on the Blizzard tour.
@@robchell9196 u saw Randy a dozen times??? damn ur lucky
@@ArronP - I did…..was lucky enough to get to an outdoor show early and stood 20 feet from him during sound check…..I Don’t Know, Crazy Train…
Hey give my man brad some credit for being able to play those songs really good on such short notice

This is spine chilling talent right here!

Switched from classical guitar to electric after listening to Blizzard in '81
I've always felt that Randy could do anything
Forever revered
The greatest! We miss you Randy.
A superhuman alien who traveled the universe on a mission to blow the minds of anyone who listened to his unduplicated guitar mastering.
Randy Rhoads. ..doesn't get any better. What a tragic loss to music.

Mr. Randy Rhoades !
The greatest to ever touch the guitar
okay Kayne West .. if you're the new "Rock & Roll", play this solo
Holy smokes this is spectacular solo.

EVH behaved like a dick towards Randy. Intimidating him etcetera. Randy's playing was too much to handle for Eddie I guess.
@1:17 love that!!
Man...this dude was hot.
Wow, unbelievable....
I was Lucky, I got to see this. With Tony Dias ! R.I.P. Guys💔
Bonnie
Fuckin metal baby!!!!!
@BloodyPaperclip screw the documentry that never coming out
theres gonna be a randy rhoads live dvd realesed this november!!!!!!
How the hell did he make that sound at 1:18 :D lol

+Ted Stanley he either used the volume pedal or the kill switch i think because yeah the V knobs are way too low
ToJo Audio it sounds like he is flipping his pickup selector and hitting different harmonics but idk
If it weren't for ozzy an sharon randy would still be here
There aren't any videos of this?
@RRMI6ironmaiden In no way would I ever compare them. I was using Eruption as an example because it is a short solo like this one.
@damnyancey lucky bastard, i wasnt even born yet.
ah shucks, could you send the audio recording to me? :) ha i dont wanna bother you but im dying to hear that. is it a band jam or unaccompanied solo? im kind of a "collector" of his solos.
@georgeoelsnik, dude, just think how epic metal will be in the after life though!!!!
i want this for my ring tone
Sharon doesn't wanna share it, sell it or even show it to pretty much anyone
@TANNERGRN Haha I want that on a shirt!
what would of he sounded like today???????
i meant just the audio recording. sorry dude. if i had it i would totaly upload it. no stopping me. id change the pitch of it or anything. (im a minor as well by the way)
sorry dude :\
there is! just not legal. actualy there is quiet riot versions when he was younger. which are simalar. but not as good.

3 thumbs down? Probably Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang...???? (: o
Biggest loss to music of all time...and so many people dont even know who he is...
i think John Lennon is the worst loss but randy is second and yes hes extremely underrated
@@eddiechandler4018 lol

.57 is brilliant why is there no video footage of this solo?
Just saying right now I am wearing a RR T-shirt and yes it is a cool story bro beacuse it HAS RANDY ON IT!!!!
I belive that randy is using his jackson
Usually Randy plays the Spotlight solo with the Sandoval polka dot . You can also listen in the end that After the solo the Guitar Is untuned... Randy himself complained of this defect . I think he was playing the Sandoval dot.
Imagine Randy shredding in that "guess you guys aren't ready for that yet" scene in Back to the Future
Good player, very talented, but, a total fraud. Either one’s ripping off the other, and there’s no doubt Edward is the original.
They sound nothing alike lol
I don't think this is the Providence solo. This is different than the one on the album. I believe this is the Cleveland solo
They should have put this through the studio and produced it as a song..similar to eruption..
